Programming / Re: Qt6 Application Testing

Paul,

The no-avx build was the most stable one yet for me at the time, except AV1 videos still would hang (but not the whole system) and I could hit the 'back' button and keep browsing. I'll pay closer attention to the video format in future, but I'm almost positive they are AV1 (because most use that these days if they are new). It doesn't always happen when playing videos though...sometimes when browsing YouTube. But that may be because if you hover over a video, it shows scenes from it.

My processor supports both AVX and AVX2 (and SSE up to 4.2). Don't know if that matters, but could be the difference from other people who don't see the system hangs?

Thanks Paul... attached is the first exit from Youtube after loading this libcn0.dll - it was found in C:\qt6\bin.

Re: hangs - back in the March time frame, you created a QT 6.2 build that I never got any hangs from after you updated libvpx to not use AVX. The next build you started using dav1d6.dll and the hangs came back (although that made AV1 videos work properly). Is AVX disabled in dav1d6.dll - or is that just a coincidence?

Thanks again, Paul! This one seems to work as well as the last - not sure I see any benefits yet, but definitely not worse. Most websites seem to work as well as when using QT5 (using Dooble), except YouTube either silently exits or hangs the system, usually in about 2 or 3 minutes, sometimes immediately. Rarely get a crash with an exceptq report. This goes for the simplebrowser too. YouTube with QT5 will hang the system, but it takes longer - maybe 15 minutes - and never silently exits.

Thanks Paul! Yes, the new QT6.3.2 QT6WebEE allows all tests to play now (except h263 and h265) so it is the same as QT5. The new Dooble also seems to work well.

YouTube still has trouble like before, but one time I tried YouTube, Dooble window disappeared and it got into an endless loop of exceptq report creation (beeping all the way). I couldn't kill the console window, so hit <ctrl><alt><del> and rebooted. I'll attach the first report created (out of about 20).

Curious if https://smedley.id.au/tmp/dooble-2023.04.10-os2-qt6.3.x-20230516.zip works any better with the latest 6.3.x Qt code.

Hey Paul,

This one does seem a little better here... I can use YouTube for awhile, and most recent videos work (except a few want h264 - even html5test.com shows h264 is not supported). Eventually (maybe 10-15 minutes) I get either a silent exit or system hang. Am running with --ignore-certificate-errors and now am able to play the audio tests on 'https://tools.woolyss.com/audio-video-tests' (for some reason I do not get the 'Certificate Expired' error on QT6.3.2 - even with a new profile).

BTW - there is a newer version of Dooble available: 2023.4.20.

Paul,

Yep, Opus now works. I also can't get h264 stuff to work on the https://tools.woolyss.com website - that website also detects that h264 is not supported (doesn't show as green).

Also, none of the audio tests there from source 'dogphilosophpy.net' work, even though they are shown as supported. These ones give the 'ssl_client_socket' error and this one:

[102:30:0516/060632.356000:ERROR:cert_verify_proc_builtin.cc(678)] CertVerifyProcBuiltin for hpr.dogphilosophy.net failed:
----- Certificate i=0 (CN=hpr.dogphilosophy.net) -----
ERROR: Time is after notAfter

Don't know if this is caused by QT or something at the source...

Regards,

EDIT: Tried the 'dogphilosophy.net' stuff with QT5 and I get a 'Certificate Expired' warning, then allow an exception and they work. Is it QT or Dooble who handles the 'Certificate Expired' notification?

Paul,

Dooble immediately exits silently on YouTube, but it appears SimpleBrowser works for a little while, then the system locks up...

 Hi Paul,

I tested using this new qt6webee-6.3.2-20230514 with the qt6-6.3.2-20230318 package and I can't load any web page without crashing. I can give you an exceptq report if you want, but I have a newer version qt6-6.3.2-20230422 that it does work (somewhat) with, so I tested with that.

I always go to https://tools.woolyss.com/html5-audio-video-tester/ to test video and audio in the Dooble browser. WebM and ogv stuff mostly works with both video and audio (except if it uses OPUS, then no audio), MP4 doesn't work at all. Some audio formats don't work either, like flac, ogg, opus and some others.

Can't open YouTube here - Dooble silently exits. Also see this in the console a lot : [120:40:0514/081531.955000:ERROR:cert_verify_proc_builtin.cc(600)] No net_fetcher for performing AIA chasing. No problem here with https:// though...

Regards,

EDIT: on some of the non-working tests at the test website I see this error in the console: [120:17:0514/083735.151000:ERROR:ssl_client_socket_impl.cc(981)] handshake failed; returned -1, SSL error code 1, net_error -201

Hey Paul,

When I try to start Dooble with this new QT6 6.3.2 and QT6Webee, I get a message that says it can't find SWRESA4. I have swresa1.dll and swresa3.dll on my system, but no swresa4.dll. Know where I can get this?

Hi Paul,

I finally got some time to test your latest ODIN build (odin32-20230411.zip) and it is a mixed bag. I tested a bunch of Java apps - some work and some don't (all of which work with the Bitwise build):

Works:
NightVision
Cademia
GeneologyJ
jPhotoBrush
jEdit
ImageJ (with the exception it cannot update because no 'OK' or 'Cancel' buttons - works with Bitwise)

Doesn't Work:
FreePlane - won't start, get a POPUPLOG
ProjectLibre - won't start, get a POPUPLOG
Art of Illusion - won't start, get a POPUPLOG
jAlbum - won't start, get a POPUPLOG

I didn't test all functions, just basic ones. Unfortunately, there are no exceptq reports generated. I'll attach a sampling of the POPUPLOG...

 Paul,

Testing the 6.5 build now... Scribus works, but Dooble doesn't, going thru the examples everything that used to work in previous versions still does (so far) and same with everything that didn't work before.

  Good luck with your surgery!

Hi Tellie,

I didn't log in, just opened QTTube, typed in 'Cats' in the search bar, clicked on one of the videos offered (might need to do it twice) and it starts playing. I have not had QTTube crash yet, but have had system hangs...

Regards.

Using QT6 6.2.4 with Paul's latest 6.2.4 QT6WEBEE build (with working AV1) both the latest Dooble and Tellie's QTTube work great. Thanks! Still get occasional system hangs, but so does the QT5 version of Dooble.

The previous version of 6.2.4 QT6WEBEE did not give any system hangs here (but AV1 videos would freeze). Would be great if the last 2 could somehow be combined...

 Paul,

Here, Dooble exits silently, but Simplebrowser traps just like Mike shows and the trap file shows the exact trap you show too.
