In a definite YMMV - https://smedley.id.au/tmp/qt6-6.4.3-os2-20230325.zip

I couldn't get Dooble to start with this build either...

Paul,

If I try running the 20230326 version of qt6webee 6.2.4 with the 20230325 version of qt6 6.3.2, I get the same error that Andy mentioned on starting Dooble. Looks like Roberto can get it to work with the 20230228 qt6 6.3.2 version though...

 Paul,

Tried qt6webee-6.2.4-20230326 with the last QT6 6.2.4 package and I can play AV1 files without the video hanging, but I get frequent system hangs requiring a hard reboot (although usually after many minutes of playing, which is a big improvement from before where the AV1 video would hang after a few seconds). In fairness, I also get system hangs with QT5 playing videos, but that seems to go longer than this test did... need to check the video test site posted a while back...

OK, I opened an issue for this (#182) at the Dooble github site....

I quite like Dooble, it's nice and light... my only complaint now is if I open a link from a Web Folder, it opens a new instance of Dooble rather than open a new tab in the existing instance (and sucks up a bunch of memory). Any of you programmers know if this is something that can be corrected within Dooble, or is it in the nature of OS/2? I could raise an issue on the Dooble github if it is possible to correct there...

 Hi Paul,

The new QT6 6.3.2 20230325 version works here the same as you show - I can now display OS2World and HTML5TEST in Dooble without exiting, so good progress! Still get an exit attempting to view YouTube and various news sites though - thanks!

Paul,

6.2.4 doesn't give that error any more, but at one time early on it did. Not sure what you did to get rid of it - might have to review early parts of the thread...

 Hi Eugene,

Yeah... aren't we all? At Warpstock (in early November) it was alleged that ArcaOS 5.1 would be released by the end of the year and here we are at the end of March. I wish Arca Noae would at least have made an announcement about any delay after that, but... crickets. Anyone know why there has been this delay?

 Hi Paul,

Tried the new complete 6.3.2 20230318 version and it has the same behaviors and limitations as before with one exception I see so far: I can now print a web page! At least ones that will display, many cause the browser to crash (including OS2World). Other apps seem to work as well as before and examples have the same limitations (QML and Quick don't work). I'll give 6.4.3 a shot next...thanks!

Thanks Paul! This build of QT6.4.2 seems to work as well as 6.2 and 6.3, and has the same quirks. Everything I have tried (including Dooble with the 6.2 webengine) works as well as it did with previous versions. The biggest issue I see with the examples is the 'Workerscript plugin not found' error on QML and Quick examples (and a few others).

@Martin - I just extracted Scribus to the root of my C: drive and it works well here (do get a python error on one of the plugins at start though).

 Paul,

This latest 20230306 qt6webee does seem somewhat better here - AV1 files stop playing after a couple of seconds (VP9 are fine), but I have not had a single system hang after about an hour of trying videos on YouTube. It appears the video keeps streaming even after it stops showing (using the 'Stats for Nerds' display) and I have found that AV1 files that show a static image and play music continue to work to the end. Occasionally, I have even had the image briefly change after a freeze if I wait long enough. More progress!

Utilities / Re: DUMPFS setup

 Lars,

... and on third thought, maybe most or all NVMe manufacturers finally decided to drop legacy BIOS support for their controllers (maybe that is what AN means when they are saying: dumping to NVMe managed disk only works sometimes). In that case, there is nothing that can be done or to write an OS2DUMP module that uses UEFI functionality to perform this job.

And that might be why I can't boot ArcaOS from an NVMe drive on this machine using the CSM...
