General Discussion / Re: OS/2 - ArcaOS Santa's List for 2025
« on: December 04, 2024, 04:25:58 pm »
Hello

I think that the "ArcaOS Developer Kit" was covered this year with AN's update the website - "Information for Developers".
With their list of tools and the release of David's OpenWatcom and IBM Toolkit bundles I think this subject got more clarity.

I would suggest to use the 86Box Manager, there are all different VMs listed and you can configure them there a bit easier.
https://github.com/86Box/86BoxManager

Thanks Sigurd. 86BoxManager really made it easier.

Hello

I slipped the topic, just because it was going away from UniAud.

Tamas, the "Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus (wi-fi)" was reported by Eugene Tucker here:

Eugene, did you disabled hyperthreading on the UEFI BIOS ? Tamas, did you?

Setup & Installation / Article: Booting to ArcaOS Desktop on a USB Stick
« on: December 01, 2024, 01:38:48 pm »
Hello

Peter Rehfisch shared his article with me and gave me permission to republish it on the OS2World Wiki.

You can read it at:

I still need to get some time to give it a try. This is something that it is on my TODO list. Feedback about the article is welcome.

Hardware / Re: Mouse, Trackpoint, Trackpad, Touchpad - I2C Question
« on: November 29, 2024, 05:10:38 pm »
Hello

On my T14s I have an ELAN trackpoint. Windows recognize the device as "04F3" which is the ELAN's Vendor ID.
The Testlog PCI report does not show anything with "04F3".

I guess Windows has something to query the I2C bus. But looking around everyone refers to linux's I2C Tools.

I also try to find more information, but I guess it is getting out my technical skills and getting more into the hardware world.

Hello

By checking 86box, I think this can be my only opportunity to run Quake 3 under OS/2 with an emulated 3DFX card. (since I don't have the real hardware).

Thanks Sigurd for this topic

I had also check out some other information about 86Box, Jamie Honnaker gave me permission to include also his configuration on the wiki:
- https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php?title=Install_and_Run_IBM_OS/2_Warp_3_Connect_in_86Box

I didn't get it first, but the trick was to run the machine and got to "Tools-Settings" to customize it (Picture attached), I will be trying to learn more about it.

Hello Mentore

Just one extra thing. can you put your ported version of RetroArch in some repository (like Github - https://github.com/MentoreSiesto?tab=repositories)
If possible I want to learn from your makefile, and I think it will be nice for everyone to check it out.

Programming / Re: Bigicons

Hello David.

Just curious here. What is your technique to generate each of the "device list" styles of the icons ? (Sorry If I'm limited for my English and there is a better wording for it). I'm attaching an image to try to explain what I'm talking about.

Do you do it on a different tool that can save each icon size/style inside the .ico?
Do you create the image on a different tool and paste it to IconEdit to save the icon?
Do you create those in IconEdit and edit each image one by one?

Regards
