General Discussion / Re: eCoSoft software availability
« on: September 30, 2022, 08:17:50 am »
What ever transactions anyone wishes to make with Eugene and friends is not the issue, that is between two entities and it is up to the entities to keep in mind any restrictions etc, and what they do about them. I do not have any issues with Russian or Ukrainian citizens as a whole, it is unfortunate that people are caught up in the actions of governments.

os2world.com is a public forum for those in the OS/2, eCS, Arca, communities, it accepts people from all countries that wish to take part, including in off topic areas but politics, religion, government issues, and anything that could be deemed as illegal (no matter personal opinion), should be left outside these forums.

My point is to leave politics out of it - as much as I too would like to comment on some aspects, I leave it outside os2world.com.

Hi Eugene,

Your post comes across as political, and illegal. I have reworded it.

Hi Paul,

Drove to Melbourne from Perth mid January, drove back to Perth with a week in Kalgoorlie early August with my dog in the back seat, due to ageing family members I think I will be staying in Perth for a couple more years.

Looking forward to getting my server out of storage and back on the internet, never did get SFTP/wget etc working to update the public website, will look at networking my server to Linux and update it that way. Maybe even put the server on VirtualBox and use the shared directory option. I stopped updating my servers version of os2site.com late last november when I sold my house but have kept a basic structure on my Linux laptop to put updates in that can be transfered to os2site.com later.

Glad os2site.com is helpful to others :)

I'm hoping that I will have a house to move into in the coming months, then I can unpack my stuff in storage and start using OS/2 again and be a bit more helpful :)
Either that or I'm going to start driving around Australia again!

Going to be my dogs turn soon I think. He's 17, reasonably blind and deaf now but still enjoys his walks though arthritis is creeping in now.
They are worth it, giving more companionship and joy than the sadness at the end, I would never be without them.

Hi Chris,
I have a vague memory of some Desktop background BMP's etc causing problems. You might want to move them all out of the way and see if OS2OOOC.DLL still crashes.

Remember that OS/2 and Windows BMP files have differences. Cant remember what they are at present as most of my stuff, including my OS/2 computers are packed up. PMView from memory can save a graphics file to either format, I had to save some Windows BMP files to OS/2 format to use as background images.

Sorry Ibrahim, only took in one picture.

Re the other IBM Enhanced Keyboard, and Multimedia KB's, I also several left over from computer sales, and the Multimedia ones from kerbside. I've never been able to get those extra keys working but never tried with anything earlier than about Win7, did not even try to see if there were drivers. The Multimedia USB one is good for using with a laptop while traveling.

May I ask what keyboard you've got in IMG_6067? I have the sudden itch to add one to my legacy workbench.

Looks like its same one I'm typing this on, an IBM Model M :)

Applications / Re: RDP Server for OS/2?
« on: June 10, 2022, 01:03:29 pm »
Hi Chris,

Nothing to drive anything nuts outside of normal OS/2 users doing the standard nutty things :)
ok, I see why you are doing it that way.

Your options?
Finding a RDP Server that can be compiled under OS/2,
I had a quick look at Xrdp server a couple of years ago but it looks like a wrapper for a X Window Server.
I put it in the to hard basket and stuck with VNC.

Hi Chris,

Long time no see/hear.
If you can, I would recommend VNC, thats what I use for my headless OS/2 server.
Can we assume you want RDP as that is what you are already using for everything else?
