Hardware / Re: Post 2010 Laptops running ArcaOS

Hi, Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately neither Unimix nor pmUnimix are solving the problem. I have tried in the past as well with the latest AN drivers.

Most of these are pre-2010. Only The T540p is newer.

My Thinkpad X250 is newer than 2010 and I can boot it from AOS5-DVD. No installation so far, because I have a running eCS2.1 with latest ArcaNoae drivers. Never touch a running system  :). Even sound is comming to live with the latest AN driver (A1- switch). But only after a warm boot if W7 was running before. Booting from cold - no sound, but at least no error messages of missing sound driver any longer in some applications.

David Azarewicz send me a test built of acpi 3.23.04. Now my TP X250 boots again, also with QSInit  ;D.
Thanks again for the very fast solution to David and the whole AN team.

Yes, I am using QSInit otherwise I have only less than 1MB RAM available. But I tried also booting using the original IBM loader. Same hang.

I just tried to use the new Arca Noae ACPI driver (acpi-3.23.03.exe). With this package my Thinkpad X250 hangs on the boot logo. Back to acpi-3.23.02.exe it starts normal.
I make several tests. Every time same hang on boot logo.

Not sure if this is true in your case. However on my X250 I had to correct the geometry of the partitions using DFSee before I got the system running. You might check the messages from DFSee (even under Windows running) to find out if there are adjustments to the geometry recommended.

Applications / Re: Firefox 38.8.0 for OS/2 Beta 7
« on: May 30, 2016, 05:55:37 pm »
I will point out that it took a couple of minutes, using Arca Noae Package Manager, to get this right, and I used my latest WarpIn installer (at Netlabs, and Hobbes) to get Firefox 38.8.0 properly installed. The WarpIn installer no longer makes any attempt to verify that the user has the proper DLLs (and other things) installed. ANPM (recommended), or the YUM command line, will do that properly. Trying to do it yourself is probably possible, but I suspect that it will turn into an exercise in frustration, before you figure it out. It seems that even the developers don't know what you need.

FWIW, I installed FF 38.8.0 last night, and it seems to be working well. The only anomaly, that I have noticed, is that it insists that I haven't used FF for a while, it welcomes me back, and it offers to clean up Firefox. I haven't let it do that, yet.

Also for me it was fine installing with ANPM and the wpi-file I found at Hobbes. It took also only a few minutes.
To get rid of the annoying statement just delete the parent.lock file in your profile once the program is closed.

I use the VGA port on the docking station. I have the  Lenovo ThinkPad Pro Dock - 90W, EU (FRU: 40A10090EU).
Just tested now the VGA port on the device. It is working there as well.
I haven't tested the Mini-Display port, because of now hardware with such an interface.

With the new Mulitmac package (Multimac-20160201.exe) from Arca Noae comes an e1000b.os2 driver for my LAN chip. So my patch of the older e1000b.os2 is no longer needed to use the LAN function of the X250.
Thanks to AN for the great support.

Hi Wim,
I have now tested both programs uvcscope & uvcview with the latest USB drivers from Lars (v10.202) and from AN (v11.13).
In both environments both programs starts but  the video freezes after some seconds with the already posted error message.
I couldn't repeat the three minutes run time for uvcview.
I guess I shall try a clean environment, but that is a little bit tricky for the X250 because I have to clone the OS using DFSee.
If I have time I will give it another try and will stop for now testing the camera.
Hartelijk dank voor uw hulp.

Dear Wim,
I haven't used the usbecd.sys so far.
I will give uvcscope.exe a try and will report.

Hallo Wim,

ACPI.PSD with MAXCPU=1 and MAXCPU=2 brings the error message camrea not found (see picture).
Running uvcview.exe as the only program it was now stable for about 3 minutes before crashing (with all4 kernels).
