Applications / Re: How to modify the border width of win-os2 seamless window?
« Last post by Lars on November 04, 2025, 08:41:10 am »
What happens if you maximize and then restore a window while in seamless mode ?

Another idea: open Windows in full screen mode, go to ProgramManager->ControlPanel->Desktop and set "Border Width" to say 3. Maybe you need to change back and forth between two values. The default value seems to be 3. Note that this will not be possible if you are in seamless mode !

If that still does not help: there are entries in OS2.INI like "WIN_RES_x". In each of these there are 4 keys that reference what windows display driver is in use for fullscreen and seamless, respectively. Maybe you will have to manually update each of these to match your settings in system.ini.

Hello Mentore

Can you reply asking if they agreed to turn it "as is freeware", if they agree, we can get at least the binaries to be available for free at hobbes.

Regards.

Actually I did ask again to state it as public domain - they just answered they don't have the source code anymore. Going to write them again, being more specific.

BTW I'm back porting software and I'm trying to do something interesting in emulation, electronic and music. Keep fingers crossed 'cause I'm experiencing some problems with CMake.

Martin

I don't have a vector program.  I am not too good handling fonts. Others probably have better ideals on creating a better logo.

After much trial and error to see if I could do anything, I made one test.

I've sent an email at support @ slickedit. Let's see how this goes.
Thanks for giving it a try.

XAct showed up on a different thread, I had sent an email to "Arnd Beissner".

Bad news:

Hi,

We don't still have the OS/2 source code. Too many transitions since then. Might have had it prior to 2023 when we still had our CVS repository (switched to git). We don't even have any OS/2 installers any more.

Sorry we can't help more

I switched the request asking for VSE latest OS/2 incarnation to be considered as open source. It seems they don't even have the installation package.

I have the CD for Xact version 7.0 and the unlock code.  How do I archive the files from the CD?  P.S. the CD also contains the files for the Windoze version.

If you're able to split the contents of the CD (OS/2 only) you can give it a shot at sending a ZIP package on the Internet Archive or other sources like that. I don't think Hobbes archive is a suitable solution, since we're still talking about a commmercial software with all that regards licensing and rights.

Programming / Re: [Classic Rexx] Translation database

Related topic: [Classic Rexx] How can one pipe data to application?

I've been bussy to rewrite the script.
It take ISO files with OS/2-eCS-ArcaOS, source language and target language, extract and interpret various file formats/resoruces and add translations to a database (SQLite), but also use online resources (database and google) when possible to translate text.
This version is more capable, but I still need your help.

I need your help to find more translation sources and add how to parse and add them.

This script is currently available in English and Swedish... and with your help soon also in your language ;)
It is built as a menu system that use .msg files to output text, thus need your time to translate it. (See files in the folder TRN_MSG_TXT)

It is intended to be able to translate itself, but it is unlikely right now since the word-to-word translations available, focus on other phrases and words.

The current sources for translations are:
https://download.wikdict.com/dictionaries/sqlite/
http://translate.googleapis.com/translate_a/
saldo.xml or swesaurus.xml specifically for Swedish
and the OS/2 centric ftp://ftp.zx.net.nz/pub/archive/service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/fixes/

Someone may want to create a function that can parse either the 19Gb large jsonl within https://kaikki.org/dictionary/raw-wiktextract-data.jsonl.gz or the smaller kaikki.org-dictionary-<Language>.jsonl and help me here! and/or perhaps mare the related python scripts available... whatever it can be used for.

What is lacking that also need your assistance to solve:
Caseless comparison of phrases/words within the sqlite database when used with national characters.
Code to use additional online and offline translation sources.
SQL views within the database that can be useful to output translations into various useful file formats.
Graphical software to add and use translations!

Hello KO Myung-Hun

I'm speechless because I don't know how did you pull that. I can not find any information about BorderWidth in WIN.INI for Windows 3.1
