Setup & Installation / Re: Problem with Win 7 and ArcaOS 5.3 installation
« on: November 15, 2019, 02:38:10 pm »
You have to start the ArcaOS- Installation again until you have the choice to do a service on your partitions. There you have to activate the Bootmanager and start your machine again.

Hello Greggory,

Wolfie did the ssh-presentation in Cologne (have a look here: http://www.os2.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=482&start=25). You might send him a pm asking for his presentation. Or, if you want me to I could ask him for the presentation.

Mail-News / PMMail 3.11.30.1767 and PGP (PGPTools 1.01)
« on: December 01, 2015, 08:59:32 pm »
I wonder if there is somebody who managed to install PGPTools 1.01 to run successfull with PMMail 3.11.30.1767.
I did the install and PMMail is showing a tab called "Security" under the setting of an acount. PMMail is running properly so far but under "Available Security Agents " PGP is not recognized as an available agent although PGP can be started from a command line. No need to tell that neither PGP nor PGPTools are running successfull.
Has anybody had the same problem and managed to solve it? Or might that be a bug of PMMail?
Any comments are welcome.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Events / Call for presenters - User meeting Colgne 2014
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:24:31 pm »
As already announced a user meeting will be held in Cologne on the 29th of November 2014.
The last meeting was somekind of surprise concerning the topics, as we did not know who and how many users would take part.

This time we know that quite a lot people are interested in this meeting and different users already declared that they very much would like to come. So for this time we would like to do a little organization in advance.
Some of the participants of the meeting in 2013 declared last time, they would like to do a presentation of something they are working on. We very much appreciated this announcement and do now ask to renew this commitment.

So Sigurd's and my (Thomas) questions are:

- who is willing to do a presentation and on what kind of topic?
- what kind of topics are the visitors / users interested in?
- who intends to visit the meeting?
- do you have any suggestions to be considered by us?
- ...

The meeting will be held in

http://koeln-riehl.jugendherberge.de/en/Portrait

Please consider to do your booking in time.

So far for now.
We are curious for your suggestions, comments, ...

Cheers

Thomas and Sigurd

Great! Thanks a lot.
Looking up that directory offers a lot DLLs. How can I find out which one I need? Or would you suggest to take them all?

I would be very interested in giving it a try under Warp 4.52.
Do you think this could be possible?

Thomas

This shouldn't be a problem. I don't remember if I had good results (maybe not, but then again, I had a clumsy OOo install).
If you're trying the Yuri Dario build, just follow his instructions regarding the needed DLLs.

Mentore

Getting the needed DLLs is a  problem to me.
I found a link to an italian ecomstation site. In the readme it says:

the following packages must be installed (dll only)
   libc 0.6.5
   gcc 4.4.6
   gcc 4.4.4
   ssl
   curl
   jpeg
   xslt
   libicu
   z
   xml2
   stdcpp
   mmap
   pthread
   urpo

These files can be installed with the following command:

yum install libc gcc-4.4.4 gcc-4.4.6 openssl curl libjpeg libxslt libicu zlib libxml2 stdcpp mmap pthread urpo gcc-stdc++-shared-library

if you have a valid rpm/yum installation.
Otherwise you can grab the corresponding zip files from

   http://rpm.netlabs.org/release/00/zip/

As I do not have a rpm/yum installation I intended to grab the zip-folders. But for example there is no gcc-4.4.4 folder. Others are missing also from what I understand.
Can somebody give me a hint?

Thanks a lot.

General Discussion / Re: Sources of DBExpert?
« on: January 18, 2014, 01:30:34 pm »
Hello Martin,

here is another message of Wolfgang, who would like to work on the sources of DBExpert:

Quote:

As I know UnixODBC is open Source.
If it is not possible to put DBExpert to OpenSource, may be it is possible to buy the sources. It depends on the money she asks for.
Then I can handle DBExpert as Close-Source and may be fix errors and publish compiled versions of DBExpert.
(As I do with WDSibyl-Pascal-Compiler)

End of quote

Hi.

Carla contacted me back, we talked a little bit. We are not sure if DBExpert can be released as open source yet, it will take some time to check for the files.

But she told me that DBExpert shipped with ODBC drivers licensed from InterSolve. Do you know of a free ODBC driver for OS/2 that could be used instead?

I just asked on the german forum  if Wolfgang will be interested on removing the dependencies on InterSolve ODBC drivers?

Hello Martin,

this is great news.
As you are in contact with Carla please ask her if it is possible to open source the other Sundial Software. Especially Mesa was asked by another user (Frank).

Thank you VERY much for your continuously working for us.

« on: January 08, 2014, 12:41:47 pm »
Here

http://de.os2.org/forum/diskussion/?id=138463&order=2

Wolfgang is asking for a way to make DBExpert work with mySQL. He gave unixODBC a try without success.
Wolfgang is interested in the sources of DBExpert. As he knows that Randell S. Flint has died, he is looking for an E-Mail address of his wife to ask if she is interested in selling the sources.
Is anybody here who might be helpfull?

Thanks a lot for your participation.

Hello,

>The developers of the Team work in their spare time so its welcome to get donations from the people to support the projects and the current developments.

Although I already did not test the OS/4 Kernel I really would like to dp in the near future. Where can I get more information on installation and configuration and how can donations be made?

Cheers

Hello Martin,

any kind of documentation was and will be up to me.
Last time I did not have time enough to work on video solutions. Therefor the last meeting we only had a text based documentation.
I think for the next time I will have time enough to work on a better (video) based solution.
As you mentioned "source code" or any kind of these things I am not sure if somebody will prepare some stuff which could (or should) be put online. We decided to keep the work of preparation low for anybody who intends to do a presentation. So it is up to the presenter how much work he will invest. But if there will be something to be put online we will of course do so.

Have a nice Christmas and a happy New Year.

Cheers

Thomas
