Programming / Re: Source Code Text Editor Suggestions

FeatherPad works just fine as a editor and has your desired specs.
Beware CMD/REXX and config.sys: FP will save them with incorrect file endings, if you simply save. "Save as" and selecting the correct encoding and file ending works. But I tend to forget that (being ctrl+s trigger happy), so I choose EPM or FC/2 for this kind of files.

Hi Martin.

Thanks for the hints, but I know them, because I made some fixes on them and use them for debugging.

Hi Jochen

You may already know about this, we have two distros of SDL and SDL2.
One on Netlabs rpm (I guess from BitWise Works) and the other from Digi (

Maybe you would like to test a release with Digi's SDL and see if there is any improvement.  Is that what you did to don't have the issue?

No, I didn't test Digi's SDL.
Also I don't get what you mean by your last sentence.

Hi Martin,

thanks for the feedback. At least, I'm not alone.
My working copy has SDL Mixer linked, that doesn't seem to be the issue.
My current hunch is, that something in SDL2 in conjunction with PrBoom goes wrong.

Programming / Strange behaviour in SDL2

So, I'm working on PrBoom again and I noticed a strange behaviour:
Sometimes when I start the program, there is sound. Sometimes, when I use the volume program, the sound become audible, even if I press the plus sign only once, so that the volume is going down or up one point. The direction doesn't matter.
I'm running a T480 with the newest ArcaNoae Uniaud (I also tried Paul's newer version, no change there). SDL2 is locally build copy of the most recent repo.

The question is, whether somebody knows this phenomenom and point me to some solution.

I'm a little hazy about how to associate a program with type in WPS. Can you bring me up to speed?
If there is some tool or shell command to do the association, I guess, I can add that to the RPM.

I just installed ArcaOS on a T480 and I had to remove /VW AND leave /MAXCPU=1. With SMP there seems to be problems while installing.

Programming / Re: Building a Dooble RPM

Well, I think I have it setup, using Dmiks setup for now.
Dies with,
Code: [Select]
error: line 13: Unknown tag: %scm_source github 2022.10.15-os2

So right back to where I was at the beginning except now it tries to build an i686 version first. One problem is that the goal of RPM is to produce billable consultant hours rather then ease of use.
I think, you have to install the BWW rpm tools.

The .ini file has some explanations.

I am of the opinion that Secure Boot should be off because is serves little purpose other than enabling M to ban software.
I'm pretty sure, they can do that without secure boot. Is there any proof for your assertion?

Programming / Re: Qt6

I did a debug build of Qt6 - so I'm going to step through a simple testcase that is giving me the "Broken filename passed to function" error and try and work out what's happening...

uggh local variables aren't showing for me, and it's asking for paths for every source file :(
How do you debug?

Hi Paul.

I created an issue report.

I just tested QtCreator. I have the following issue:
I can't open any projects, because OS/2's drive style paths will be recognized as relative path.
So QtCreator prepends the working directory (where it was started) to the selected path.

@Paul: Should I create issue on your Github?
