Hi Mark

I just created this wiki page for the keyboard.

Maybe the same technique can work for the "Corsair K55 RGB Gaming Keyboard" that was reported as not working, but I don't remember who report it to ask him to try it out.

Thanks for sharing Mark. Welcome back.

Is this the keyboard? Looks nice.

Can it be possible for you to post the Hardware USB ID of the keyboard so I can add it to the OS2World wiki?
Also if you can post the hardware report of the USB device using lsusb (I have an article on how to generate that report here)

Is this the manual of you keyboard?

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: Hobbes (Files) Reoganization
« on: October 17, 2021, 06:58:00 pm »
Hi

I'm starting to reorganize the "/pub/os2/apps/internet" structure that I already told that I don't like, since "internet" is no longer a conceptual kind of network like it was on the mid 90's. Also there are many things on "/apps/internet/" that are really utilities, so I'm reorganizing some things. I prefer to re-think that category and move the applications according to what they do, independently if they are online (internet aware or internet requiered) or not.

Ex; Doom is under the game category, even if it can connect to the internet.

So, here are the questions I was avoiding:

1) Where should I put the web browsers? I was thinking to get out of the /internet/ and create a "/pub/os2/apps/webbrowser" or maybe if we still want to use that path put it on  "/pub/os2/apps/internet/webbrowser", but definitely stop using the "www" path (/pub/os2/apps/internet/www).

2) Which versions of Firefox and SeaMonkey should we keep in hobbes?

Hi Wendy.
I think Ian Manner's site has subdirectories where older versions are bunted into.
I'm still evaluating that. On hobbes I'm just locating the newer stuff. Once I'm done with the hobbes reorg (if I'm ever done), I will talk further to Ian to see what can we do with the full repository with new and old versions.

I was thinking about using a pattern like os2 itself, at least for some of it, eg /os2/mdos/winos2 or whatever, for bits to replace os/2's dos and windows stuff.
I'm sticking with hobbes organization for the moment. Remember we also have Java and Win32 software to organize no the structure.

You can add WPSac (Workplace Shell Access Control) and WPSam to your list - I think you cover both of these in the os2wiki... found them
 https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/WPSac
 https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/WPSam

Thanks Pete, I forgot about those. Let's add those to the list.

Hi

I just wanted to list the applications that we have available that in someway may cover this necessity.

- Security/2 0.4.5 (2005-11-17) - Freeware for Personal Use
- MultiDesk 0.2.0 (2001) - Open source GNU GPL.
- The Secure Workplace - 4.72 Professional Edition - Commercial Software.
- Login 0.4 (Mar 1994)  - Open source GNU GPL

Any other software I may be missing on this list?

Hi

I have been doing some progress reorganizing and trying to simplify "/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/".

I have a doubt on where to put the "WebCam" tools to view video that are on "/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/video" and "/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/video/capture". Or maybe I just consolidate all on "/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/video/capture" to make it easy and stop thinking of a better place to locate it.

Setup & Installation / Re: ArcaOS USB installation - Rufus?
« on: October 10, 2021, 06:50:39 pm »
Hi Mentore

I used AOSBoot for the ArcaOS beta versions without any major problems. I used a 16GB flash memory. Maybe using the 4GB can be an issue, do you want to try it a with a bigger flash drive?
For what I know AOSBoot is not yet release (right?), so maybe it is not complete finished. But I can not complain from my side.

Rufus never worked for the on some eCS and the first ArcaOS ISO. but I haven't tried Rufus in some years.

Hardware / Re: Virtual PC
« on: October 10, 2021, 06:45:43 pm »
Hi Wendy

My issue with VirtualPC is that it got bought by Microsoft, they removed the easy access to the floppy drive and also got discontinued. I switched to VirtualBox because it is open source and OS/2 also works fine with it. We also have the guest addons to make it easy to switch the mouse from guest to host and file sharing between guest and host.

Hi Wendy

I haven't used Virtual PC in years, I use VirtualBox today for running ArcaOS as a Guest.
What do you mean with "identified support"? Is it like the guest add-ons functionality?

Hi Wendy. Welcome to the forum.

What are you using to slipstream software to the eCS installer? We used to have UpdCD. Are you using it?, by hand? or created something else?

Applications / Re: xWorplace - xCenter issue(s)
« on: October 06, 2021, 07:44:54 pm »
Hi Doug.
2)  The Netlabs page for xWorplace says "Rich [Walsh] compiles special versions for ArcaOS and the current official version"   Are those "special versions" just  eWorkplace, or is there an AOS specific version of xWorkplace?
For what I know, the "special version" is mostly the xWorkplace lite version with the ArcaOS logo, not sure if there is something else included. But if Rick is around he is more than welcome to answer that.

I also took my ArcaOS 5.0.6 test VM and installed "xwp-1-0-13-full-en.exe" over it.
There are some files that changes, here are the list of some.
Code: [Select]
treesize.exe  (existing 02/25/2020 - 134,847 bytes, new  01/13/2020 - 136,321 bytes)
xfix.exe (existing 02/25/2020 - 166,607 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 168,401 bytes)
xfldr.dll (existing 02/25/2020 - 932,395 butes, new 01/13/2020 - 1,022,030 bytes)
xfldr.sym (existing 02/25/2020 - 39,508 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 44,660 bytes)
xwpdaemn.exe (existing 02/25/2020 - 150,103 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 153,278 bytes)
xwpdaemn.sym (existing 02/25/2020 - 6,004 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 6,100 bytes)
xwphook.dll (existing 02/25/2020 - 31,911 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 33,569 bytes)
xwphook.sym (existing 02/25/2020 - 1,988 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 2,132 bytes)
xwpres.dll (existing 02/25/2020 - 76,817 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 113,889 bytes)
freshini.cmd (existing 02/25/2020 - 7,155 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 4,233 bytes)
xfldr001.dll (existing 02/25/2020 - 51,489 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 54,183 bytes)
xfldr001.hlp (existing 02/25/2020 - 457,088 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 552,095 bytes)
xfldr001.tmf (existing 02/25/2020 - 27,760 bytes, new 01/13/2020 - 69,509 bytes)
Maybe this is only the size difference between the lite and full version of xworkplace.

I overwritten every file the ones on the installer. I rebooted and the "AN Removable Media Monitor" was still on the xcenter.
