Applications / Absolute path?
« on: February 11, 2021, 03:50:37 am »
Greetings,

When trying to run a new try at ssh I get the following error when starting sshd

Sshd re-exec requires execution with an absolute path

I have not a clue what that means, anyone?

Applications / Cron or cron like?
« on: February 05, 2021, 12:42:35 am »
Greetings,

Now that I am getting things dialed in ( thank you to all for your help) I am wondering if there is a task scheduler or cron like utility in os2? Seems I remember something from the warp days but for the life of me can’t remember it..

Greetings everyone,

All great suggestions, I’m just calling it with the path to config each time... doesn’t seem I should have to but it works.  Another question, can arca run services or daemons? I want to run say binkd in the background but don’t want it to have a “window” in fact lots of things I auto start I wish didn’t take up the task bar is there a way to correct that or is it just have to be?

Hope you are all well...

Check this page out, it may be of help:
https://ecsoft2.org/object-desktop

Thankyou I did find that page previously, however what it offers is fixes and patches not the actual base program..

Hi Rick, try "set HPT=c:\\config" or "set HPT=c:/config".

Doesn’t seem to fix it.. logically it should work? And I’m not sure about how to make a desktop object and suggested above..

Applications / Hpt path statement
« on: February 01, 2021, 08:52:53 am »
Greetings again,

I am setting up hpt husky (fidonet mail tosser) and all works fine.. except that I do not know how to put the config for husky one the path... I put all the executables in \usr\bin so can call husky from anywhere no problem. Husky requires a config file which is in C:\config\ in Linux I would just create a symlink to the config no problem, how do I get it to see the config file, I’ve put it on the path, I’ve tried set hpt=c:\config none of it works.  I can run it hpt -C c:\config\config but that’s not ideal... any suggestions?

Hope you are all well

Utilities / Terminal scrolling
« on: January 30, 2021, 11:25:38 pm »
Greetings,

This may be a dumb ? But is there a way so that I can scroll in a terminal when I want to see previous parts? Like binkd is always running but I may want to scroll back and have a look at something?

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: SIO2K Ray Gwinn
« on: January 29, 2021, 09:19:41 am »
Hi

I will like to get the registered versions of SIO and SIO2K to make it available at hobbes for free.  Like a told before Ray Gwinn authorized to share the registered versions of this software.

I have knowledge of these latest version:
- SIO version 1.60d, released March 17, 1997
- SIO2K version 2.03, released June 6, 2002.

I would like to get the registered versions of those latest releases, but for the moment any registered version is good for me.

For what I know there is no registration key, the registered version was a different compiled version. If someone can confirm I will appreciate it.

Regards

There is an authorized hack/reg for 160d it’s called SIOREG.ZIP when I track it down I’ll upload it to you

Applications / Frontdoor
« on: January 29, 2021, 04:16:56 am »
Greetings

I’m hoping to find someone familiar with frontdoor mailer.  I’ve not run it in 30 years well before we used anything besides dialup modems for our BBS. So where I’m at, I have sio running , vmodem loads and appears normal. Frontdoor loads and is able to initialize the modem with the “ok” message the init string I’m using is simply ATZ|. The problem is when I go to poll or deliver a test mail packet front door attempts to dial, the dial dialogue box pops up with the correct destination, vmodem shows no activity and frontdoor shows no error, just tries three times before quitting and resetting modem.  I know the two see each other I can connect to fd through the vmodem.  I’m guessing maybe wrong modem strings, I need something additional in fdnode.ctl? I’m kinda stuck, so if you have experience with frontdoor and or have a fdnode.ctl I can look at chime on in..

I have the SIO2K version 11-14-00 - Beta 014 with beta tester key (256 ports). If there is a need and permission from Ray, I am ready to post it.
I found that one as well, but when installed it claimed to be expired.  So not sure if I got ahold of a bad one?

Greetings,

Ok so I got front door to initialize. I deleted command string from modem init string and it connects to vmodem... I do have a couple function questions.  So vmodem has 4 com ports, fd tho only lets me set one com port for modem ie. Com 4, will it accept calls on other coms? Or can that be set to 0 or something so it answers on any? Can fd be set to faster than 38400?

Thankyou everyone for all your help with this!

Regards,

Rick
