Hello JTA

Thanks for the reminder. I created a new category on the forums, and moved your post on this categor. Let me know if it works; Otherwise, I will have to work on the access settings.

Also, thanks for going to Warpstock this year.

Applications / Re: XWP v1.0.16

Hello.

It seems that the Doodle Screen Saver settings page does not respect the XWP font size.
I was thinking to open a ticket. Any suggestions about it?

Hi Martin, go to Tools-->Downloads, which opens the downloads page. At the top of the page you can set the Download Path.
Thanks Dave, that was so easy and counter-intuitive at the same time  ;D ;D ;D

On the last tab in the "Workplace Shell" object ('Icon size'), there's a checkbox labelled "Use custom icons". That must be on.

Yes, that was what I was missing. It did the trick.

I understand that "DGicons.ZIP" is not complete yet, that's why I have some non-matching icons, but the concept worked here.

Hello

I wanted to try to see if I can use "DGicons.ZIP" to change the icons.

Here I'm using ArcaOS 5.1.0. Icons are set on "Dynamic - 64x64"
- Downloaded DGicons.ZIP , unzip it and put it on C:\sys\icons\DGIcons
- Changed Config.sys to "SET BIGICONSPATH=C:\sys\icons\DGIcons"

On the next reboot I did not see any change to the icons.
- I tried going back to "Icons - Normal" and back "Dynamic - 64x64" but I still see the icons included in ArcaOS.
- David's bigicons.txt is located on "C:\sys\icons\DGIcons"

Are the icons supposedly to be automatically changed on the next reboot, or I missed up something on the thread?

Thanks Dave

Here it seems to working as the latter version ported. For the moment no new issues here.

Just a question, does someone know how to change the download folder of Dooble? I can not find it on the options.

Hello christech

Even that I have two USB to Serial adapters, I no longer have an Serial device to try it out  :'(

I wrote a little thing on the wiki under "Testing the Device" : https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Prolifc_PL2303_USB_2.0_to_COM

If you succeed your testing, I will apreciate if you can post back the HardwareID of your USB to Serial device, and with which serial device did you make it work.

I have attached some of the icons including an update bigicons.txt which corrects a lot of the mistakes I made.

I tried this and everything worked OK - except for SET BIGICONS=<path>. The reason is simple: it's WRONG! It should be SET BIGICONSPATH=<path>. Give that a try...

Hello Rich

ArcaOS 5.1.0 installed here shows me by default "SET BIGICONS=C:\sys\icons\BIGICONS" on the config.sys.

Does it means that  "SET BIGICONS=" is always wrong, or that it is also possible to use "SET BIGICONSPATH=" ?
Is there a difference between both that you know about?

Hi Ivan

I just tried to look up the ThinkCentre M900 Tiny and Lenovo has it as 'Withdrawn' which usually means there have been problems with manufacture which could explain the problems you are having.

For  what I had seen "'Withdrawn" means that is not longer for sale or since it was released long ago it no longer has support (parts, warranty, newer drivers, firmware updates, etc). It does not means it had problems or defects.

General Discussion / Re: Os2.kr

Hi christech.

What is the issue? I can not pass the phone number validation when registering, it says it is not valid.

What is the good stuff you are looking for. If it is freeware/open source/shareware/publicdomain/demo, I would like to have it at hobbes too.

What is this HWP (Hangul 3.0b) ? It looks like a korean word processor.

Interesting.

Hi Andrew,

About WordStar, this is just a suggestion, I would migrate away from it and start using a modern word processor. But it is up to you to see if you feel comfortable with a modern word processor.

1) Get OpenOffice for ArcaOS. Start first using OpenOffice Writer and write something else, get used to it, play it around and check if you see yourself using that word processor tool.  Don't think about the migration yet when you are learning it.

2) About the migration, if you can post a non-confidential, but some kind of complex or big WS file here, I can try to see the migration path from a WS file to a .ODT  (OpenDocument Text ) file format, which is the one native on OpenOffice. But it is up to you if you can share that file here on the forum. You can upload .zip files here.

These are just suggestions.

Hello

I was also trying Quattro Pro. With a little trick, I was able to run Quattro Pro 6 in WinOS2. It installs fine, but it copies some DLLs to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, and in Win-OS2 we need to move those files to C:\OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\SYSTEM.

It seems to be able to save the Quattro Pro files to XLS, which will be good to migrate to OpenOffice Calc eventually. But again, depending on the complexity of the spreedsheet, migration will not be perfect, some calculation may break.

Andrew, I hope this can give you some ideas of the path you want to choose.

Hello

I was reading about WordStar.
- Migration:
If the goal to is to migrate to a modern word processor, for what I had read online, it seems that people suggest to save the WS file as RTF, so it can be opened on OpenOffice Writer. Some other recommend the "WordStar (for DOS) converter for Word" and from there OpenOffice can open the word format.

- Testing The Software:
I tried WordStar 7c for DOS in ArcaOS 5.1, it runs but I get an error that a file is missing, while the file is there on the folder. Maybe it is some copy protection.

But I also tried WordStar 2.0 for Windows (Newer than 7c according Wikipedia). It seems to runs fine on Win-OS/2, but what needs to be test is that it can open the WS files created with the DOS version. I remember that on those times, even if the software is called the same and created by the same company, sometime the file were not compatible between different OSes.

Regards
