I understand well that we need too many solutions: for developing, for
uptodate hardware, for everydayuse, based on resources available. We
need solutions at hand, not dreams.

In my opinion, if no news about is coming on, I should pay attention to find out a
way  for wireless support.

Notebook in my use (lenovo E320):

Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
Intel WiFi Link 1000 BNG


Because of that  I was compelled to leave/postpone os/2.

I miss it. I want to came back home!

Why not to address some effort to solve the actual lack of internet wireless connection (drivers to begin with etc) as gen mac is not longer updated? possibly with a long lasting solution? Is there any linux solution portable? otherwise?

Hi,
I found in a russian site a new driver for etehrnet Atheros card. It is referred only to os/4.
Any further news about?
Anybody tried with os/2 or ecomstation?
Which problems to use it or rethinking the driver?

ps: Herewith the entire readme file:

UniMac v1.0

  Installations:

  1. Add basedev = LinMac.sys to config.sys
  2. Run MPTS, get UniMac.nif and install

  Support PCI ID:

  Atheros gigabit
  0x1969:0x1062
        :0x1063 - testing
        :0x1073
        :0x1083 - testing
        :0x2060
        :0x2062

  Current version for OS/4 kernel only!!!!

  Example:

  You have 2 card, Atheros 0x1961:0x1063 and RTL8168

  1. Copy LinMac.sys to \os2\boot of boot disk
  2. Add basedev=linmac.sys to any line positions in config.sys
  3. Copy UniMac.os2 and UniMac.nif to \ibmcom\macs
  4. Run MPTS and 2 card UniMac
  5. For rtl868 change field "Card number" to 1

Frankly: I don't care if APM or ACPI versus suspend/resume works. I don't care that the lame Panorama now is faster than before (and still slower than my crappy Android phone while we're at it). I don't care about these incredibly improved, groundshakingly different desktop icons. And heck, I don't even care about USB improvements if I could trade all this for an OOTB WIFI support.
