General Discussion / Re: Resource Compiler - Joke

There are too few coders for OS/2 for this situation to be real.  :) And standardizing the resource compiler is a good idea.

Sooo...what are our choices besides the Apache stuff?

You can take part in testing Manjary: http://os2.snc.ru/product-Manjary.html  ;)

The netlabs repository and its mirror now work without problems on my systems.

I see what you and David are talking about now - in ANPM your referring to the "available" files that you don't have installed - I also get 12 files listed - I was looking at the "installed" files, of which I have roughly 250 installed, and as of last week I could update them.

Once again, arcanoae-rel lacks many packages that are on netlabs-rel.

Try disabling https://www.2rosenthals.com/rpm.netlabs.org/release/$releasever/$basearch/

All my Arca related entries are repos.arcanoae.com based

Yes, it works without 2rosenthals. But there are not enough packages on repos.arcanoae.com.

Are you sure that the Netlabs-Rel repository is really disabled?

It doesn't help me. Enabled repositories in my list:
https://repos.arcanoae.com/release/$releasever/
https://www.2rosenthals.com/rpm.netlabs.org/release/$releasever/$basearch/

Even the 2Rosenthals repo doesn't work for me - same 'disk image is malformed' error as with the netlabs-rel repo - even after a yum cleaning. So the bit rot seems to be spreading. The ArcaNoae-rel repo Dave suggests only has about a dozen or so files listed (which was already installed here).

I have the same situation on my two boxes. I've been waiting for a several days for the problem to be fixed.

Does anyone else have an issue when Ctrl clicking the desktop icon that barely a small highlight shows up and now list of processes to kill?

Yes, I have the same problem. The list of processes is not displayed.

The latest version does not save the fonts for the widget that I drop from the Font Paletter. I have to set the font again after every reboot.

PS: I tried to register for a user mailing list (specified in Readme) and received a confirmation email. But the letter sent to the mailing list was never returned to me.
I then tried to register at http://trac.netlabs.org/ to create a ticket, but the registration did not work.

Networking / Re: RDP Client that has send-key functionality
« on: March 20, 2024, 10:43:44 pm »
I installed version 3.4.0 and with this version I can no longer connect to Windows or ArcaOS VM but I can connect to Ubuntu Linix on my Raspberry PI.

Strange. I have no problems connecting to my servers and workstations.

I have attached the connection logs for the windows 10 VirtualBox.

Try adding the /relax-order-checks switch as this entry in your log suggests:

[17:17:46:873] [88:206d9e00] [ERROR][com.freerdp.core.update] - [check_order_activated]: [0x0a] OpaqueRect - SERVER BUG: The support for this feature was not announced! Use /relax-order-checks to ignore

Sending the Ctrl-Alt-Del combination when pressing Ctrl-Alt-End is implemented in the latest FreeRDP OS/2 port. Please check:
http://os2.snc.ru/product-freerdp.html

12
But when I connect from my OS/2 system a Linux host via FreeRDP they get the English keys instead the German ones.

Please try playing with the /kbd: switch in the latest version ( see http://os2.snc.ru/product-freerdp.html ). Something like this: /kbd:layout:0x00000407,lang:0x0407
All previous OS/2 ports were missing some function calls associated with this switch to configure the keyboard.

Note that lists of keyboards and languages can be obtained with the /list: switch.

Hardware / Re: The last nail in OS/2's coffin

The crazy/drunk idea will be to grab a 64bits open source multi-kernel and make OS/2 run interpreted (not emulated) from it.

http://osfree.org/ - The beginning has already been made. As I understand it, most of the Dos* functions have already been implemented.

Time to pay attention to the project http://osfree.org/  :)

In my opinion, it is a very bad idea to use varargs in exported functions.

It might be useful for you to see how a similar task is solved in libxml2:

File xmlwriter.c
/*
 * The following VA_COPY was coded following an example in
 * the Samba project.  It may not be sufficient for some
 * esoteric implementations of va_list but (hopefully) will
 * be sufficient for libxml2.
 */
#ifndef VA_COPY
  #ifdef HAVE_VA_COPY
    #define VA_COPY(dest, src) va_copy(dest, src)
  #else
    #ifdef HAVE___VA_COPY
      #define VA_COPY(dest,src) __va_copy(dest, src)
    #else
      #ifndef VA_LIST_IS_ARRAY
        #define VA_COPY(dest,src) (dest) = (src)
      #else
        #include <string.h>
        #define VA_COPY(dest,src) memcpy((char *)(dest),(char *)(src),sizeof(va_list))
      #endif
    #endif
  #endif
#endif

And SDL2. File SDL_vacopy.h
/* Do our best to make sure va_copy is working */
#if defined(__NGAGE__)
#undef va_copy
#define va_copy(dst, src) dst = src

#elif defined(_MSC_VER) && _MSC_VER <= 1800
/* Visual Studio 2013 tries to link with _vacopy in the C runtime. Newer versions do an inline assignment */
#undef va_copy
#define va_copy(dst, src) dst = src

#elif defined(__GNUC__) && (__GNUC__ < 3)
#define va_copy(dst, src) __va_copy(dst, src)
#endif

And use in your xPmPrintf something like that:
va_copy(local_va_list, given_va_list);
vsnprintf(..., ..., fmt, local_va_list);
va_end(local_va_list);
