Applications / Re: ssh - sshd
« on: November 22, 2023, 11:31:42 pm »
sshd -D starts after the host keys are created (not sure what's the different between the above and ssh-keygen -A); but I can't login via password or by adding my private key to authorized_keys in my homedir). I'm using openssh-server from bitwise/netlabs; the latest to date.

I have the same problem. Has anyone managed to log in?

Storage / Re: JFS failing in a disastrous way - without the user knowing
« on: December 04, 2022, 11:28:25 pm »
it would be good if the original CPUTEMP warpin package would have been tested better

This issue was fixed a long time ago, right after the first reported problem. I recommend using the latest CPUTemp from the SystemLoad package: http://os2.snc.ru/product-SystemLoad.html

Not sure if you are still frequenting the forum or not, but for what it's worth (in case anyone else has encountered the same issue): plugging in my Samsung S9 phone to the display monitor's HUB immediately causes a trap in WPS...or to be more precise the HWEXP.DLL throws a trap which takes WPS down.
Download and unpack archive http://ftp.os2.snc.ru/in/hwexp-dbg.zip

Any news?

Not sure if you are still frequenting the forum or not,

Hi.
Download and unpack archive http://ftp.os2.snc.ru/in/hwexp-dbg.zip into a separate directory. Install the debug version with
>install.cmd I
command. Then reproduce the problem, uninstall with
>install.cmd D
and email me the file G:\hwexp.dbg .
My email address can be found at http://os2.snc.ru/

Applications / Re: Creating some apps RPM packages
« on: June 22, 2021, 11:49:37 pm »
But I still haven't full started with the RPM installers. On my last attempts I got stuck with the WPS integration to create icons and set the properties of WPS objects (Path, working directory, etc). I usually get the answer that it works, but I'm doing it wrong, but nobody tells me how to do it right.

I do this using REXX scripts. This is called from the %post section of the .spec file for installation and from the %postun section for uninstallation. My restartwps.exe utility is also used to restart the desktop correctly.

My .spec:
ftp://os2.snc.ru/pub/freerdp/RPM/ofreerdp.spec

REXX scripts and restartwps.exe:
ftp://os2.snc.ru/pub/freerdp/RPM/spec-tools/

(see "restartwps.exe -?" for help)

Applications / Re: OS/4 (non technical issues)
« on: June 17, 2020, 02:38:18 pm »
It is very stupid to wage this war. OS/4 developers do not have any material benefit from their activities. OS/4 is a wonderful project, a huge number of problems have been fixed, the system has accelerated significantly. It has been repeatedly said that no IBM source codes are used.

The senseless confrontation only spends the strength of developers and distracts from useful work, for a small group of users of OS/2 the harm from this is enormous.

Let’s make efforts to develop the system, and not engage in dirty politics. This will benefit everyone - and Arca Noae whose system is improved through such third-party projects, and users get new opportunities.

Programming / Re: how to stay a window on top
« on: May 09, 2020, 05:21:58 pm »
And I still did not manage to float on top only between my program windows and windows of other programs can hide my top window. WS_TOPMOST is system wide.

As far as I remember, WXP / XPager uses a hook for these purposes ("Stay on top" option). Probably, standard methods for this are not provided.

It looks like there was a mistake in the signature when building the previous version.
In reality, there are no changes in cputemp, it is only recompiled.

You might be interested in the results I get from my AMD Ryzen box.  Sorry it is split but I only have a 1920x1200 monitor.

Thanks! It’s a little strange for me that at least the manufacturer has not determined on a USB mouse and keyboard. Check if the usb.ids file is in the %etc% directory?

It would be interesting to see the results under OS/4. There, the picture with your PCI bridges will be much clearer and more logical.

See ticket 0002740 at the Arca Noae bug tracker.

Solved. Thanks.

There are also no problems with drivers from Lars, can be found on Hobbes. I even have one device (USB microscope) that works well with these drivers, but doesn’t work with Arca drivers.

One obswrvation:
The port and memory ranges are too big by one, that is,the highest port/memory address should be one less as it is now.

Indeed. Thank you! What a stupid mistake.  :)

Networking / Re: VNC/FTP Asus RT-AC1750U
« on: February 16, 2020, 03:26:34 pm »
Need to set up a new Asus RT-AC1750U for accepting incoming VNC and FTP connections.

Here is what I use:
  http://os2.snc.ru/product-VNC.html
  http://www.pmoylan.org/pages/os2/FtpServer.html

For VNC, you need to forward port 5900 (or another non-standard one that can be specified in the VNC server settings) forward on your router.

Peter's FTP server allows you to specify a range of ports for external connections. This range must be forwarded on your router.
