Tried today Datacrow, it installed okay. Running is an other matter. Got once sys1808 005. Suspect that it has to do with setup program. After that no sys errors, but the program hangs as soon as the gui pops up. Nothing works there, you can click on everything, but nobody home.

Multimedia / Re: Screen Recording with eComStation
« on: September 04, 2013, 01:44:54 pm »
Tried the record and playprogram on my system. I still have a P4 at 2.8 and then this program takes too much computer power. I'm using a Bamboo pen, this is the one and only pointing device I have on the system. So no mouse of some sort. I also have a pen on screen instead of the much seen arrow. And my pen is for left handed because it doesn't feel right if it is right handed (don't know if this is something between the ears). But in the recorded screen I see the classic arrow instead of my pen. So the question is what your going to record? I thought to make a nice video with how well the Bamboo pen works with the driver from Wim Brul, but I can't show how it is on my system unfortunately.

It works well with Java 1.6ga5, bugtracker file stays empty.

Cheers,
Joop

I am using PDFSam 2.2.2 with java 1.6.0ga5 without any problems.  I start it from a program object with the Parameters -Duser.home=h:\java-apps\pdfsam -Xmx256m -jar pdfsam-2.2.2.jar
Thanks, I hadn't -Duser, inserted that option but it didn't help. Error stays and you have to reboot the computer.

Applications / Pdfsam and JAVA1.6.0ga5
« on: August 28, 2013, 04:09:47 am »
I tried to run pdfsam version 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 under Java 1.6.0ga5. All is installed, other programs just runs fine with my Java 1.6.0ga5 setup.
But with pdfsam and Java 1.6.0ga5 I get libc panics.
I did get this with both pdfsam versions;

LIBC PANIC!!
_um_free_maybe_lock: Tried to free block twice - block=7d61de94 lock=0x1
pid=0x0047 ppid=0x0046 tid=0x0010 slot=0x00a5 pri=0x0200 mc=0x0000
I:\JAVA\JAVA160GA5\BIN\JAVA.EXE
Process dumping was disabled, use DUMPPROC / PROCDUMP to enable it.

I edited my cmd file back to Java 1.6.0ga1 and I have no problems with pdfsam 2.2.1. Pdfsam starts.
Can other users verify this behavior?

regards,
Joop

Not sure, may be its helps. Found that the mb has lots of options.

Found this at the net, may be...

"I searched my BIOS using the search tool and browsed through all the sub menus but could not find a setting named "IGD Minimum memory" but I found what I was looking for by switching my BIOS to classic mode. There was the exact option I was searching and it was named just like what I expected. It is called "IGD DVMT memory" under the configuration>video>IGD DVMT memory. Though the issue got solved for now as I changed the setting from "maximum DVMT" to "512 MB". But I wonder why it behaves strange when I put the setting as "Maximum DVMT" it shows only 64MB as dedicated minimum memory in the OS and when I change it to 512MB it shows 512MB dedicated memory. I found ASUS and others having an additional choice offering upto 1024MB to use as dedicated minimum memory."

Applications / Re: Java applications Jedit 5.1.0

I just tried JAlbum latest (11.4) with same setup of Odin/Java with which I tested jEdit 5.1.0 and I didn't have any trouble.
Sorry, JAlbum latest is 11.4.1. Installed it and it just runs. Did open and close a few things. The only annoying thing is a popup for registering the stuff.

A little bit short on information. Sounds to me that parts can't be found. So go through your config.sys on path statements and see if that matches where the programs really are.

The latest Jalbum zip does work but now I need to find a new skin, as my previous skin doesn't like the new Jalbum. Thats a skin version check thing though, so at least the lastest JAlbum works ok. Back to Jedit - nothing to see here with JAlbum now.
I have the same problem, but as soon as you go to use it, JAlbum comes up with a question if you want to download a new version, just agree. Its all going automatic from there, of course you need to be connected.
After that you need to restart the program so the new plugin is effective. Goes very smooth.

I just downloaded the ZIP file, for everything (last one in the list), unzipped it, replaced my old install (which was ancient), and it seems to work okay with the latest JAVA from the eCS Software Subscription site.
For all who are struggling with JAlbum;

Don't download the installer file, do download the zip file, for more info please visit

Version is not latest, for the rest of it, this is what I use and I have JAlbum up and running within 5 minutes, probably less  ;)

Hi all,

I created a ticket about this problem: http://svn.netlabs.org/java/ticket/223

If it is really common to latest jEdit and jAlbum, it is not application related, IMHO.

Bye
Gabriele
I just tried JAlbum latest (11.4) with same setup of Odin/Java with which I tested jEdit 5.1.0 and I didn't have any trouble. To me its very application related and the problems with jEdit did start as soon as they kicked out all OS/2 code because someone believed that OS/2 was dead and not in use anymore. They made a test version, 5.whatever beta's and all failed. So its not a real surprise that 5.1.0 failed too. I did put in lots of documentation, but it seems of no help. It seems that the branch for reading drives, directories and files gets into some kind of loop because they probably nested it in the wrong way. The read data gets a 1 and the next time they add another 1 to it, so it reads next directory or something. I'm just guessing...

Cheers,
Joop

Hi Pete,

What I do not see on the jedit sourceforge site is an obvious way to report the problem. Where have you reported this problem? - I'll add my bug report to yours.
Try this one http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3595308&group_id=588&atid=100588

Applications / Java applications Jedit 5.1.0
« on: August 11, 2013, 05:04:08 pm »
I installed Jedit 5.1.0, did go with one error message. Today it seems it needs the internet. But as the message at the bottom says, don't worry.
After installation I update my startup script and Jedit does start up. In English, no Dutch (I'm Dutch). Can't be choosen too, its just not there.
After that lets load a file....

And here we have an old bug which was introduced after they kicked out the OS/2 code because no one uses OS/2 anymore.
That poor fellow never did a real search on the internet. After my complaint that we aren't dead but alive and kicking they put the code back in they said, but it seems not all of it. The fellow who took it all out never had the idea to note down what he had done. So they don't know whats missing. They took out some "old days dos stuff" and with it probably the way how to manage directories and files. Today with this latest edition Jedit can't read directories properly in OS/2. It comes up with totally nonsence.

I got this in my bug tracker file;
16:40:13 [jEdit Worker #2] [error] ErrorListDialog$ErrorEntry: i:\programs\Jedit_510\i:\programs\Jedit_510\i:\programs\Jedit_51_
2212\i:\programs\Jedit_501_1212\i:\programs\Jedit_501_1212\I:\CAD\Fidocad\Manual\i:\programs\Jedit_500\I:\CAD\Fidocad\Manual\i:\
programs\Jedit_51_2212\i:\programs\Jedit_501_1212\i:\programs\Jedit_501_1212\I:\CAD\Fidocad\Manual\i:\programs\Jedit_500\I:\CAD\
Fidocad\Manual\:
16:40:13 [jEdit Worker #2] [error] ErrorListDialog$ErrorEntry: Cannot list directory.

Its all almost one line, I do have all those directories, but not in this insane way. I still use Java 160 first edition because most programs do work well with this version. Later versions do give some trouble with some programs in not having a menu on top, its there, but not displayed. I did put the bug in the bug tracker, but it seems not important enough. That's why I'm a bit down about eCS and how it all goes today, in case you ask yourself if my website is still maintained.

May be there is a trick too fool OS/2 or Jedit. Anyone?

Cheers
Joop

So,  java7 is required - which probably explains why it is not installing for you.
No, its not that simple. It seems that some parts are hard coded in order to make it as easy as possible in the three main streams.  The good news is that all parts can be override with proper switches. The bad news is that there is not a file with even near a setup string. So there is some puzzling to do.

Joeffice is not on that list.
Sorry, thought you referred to that other program. I haven't test Joeffice yet, seems it needs some parts from netbeans, but I'm not sure. At the time that I was testing this program was not ready for public.
