Pete,

I checked my install and it is definitely all updated (I always delete the old before installing the new CUPS). It turns out I lucked out in how I installed. I first unzipped CUPS 2.0.3, them unzipped Cups-filters-1.0.71. CUPS has the testprint you show, but CUPS-filters has the one I show. Since I installed CUPS-filters second, I ended up with the one that works. No idea why they both have a testprint and they are different...

Edit: The CUPS 2.0.0 and CUPS-filters 1.0.61 packages both have different 'testprint' files as well (the same 2). I wonder how many people tried out CUPS 2 and failed to get a test print because of the order they unzipped the files....

 Pete,

It works fine here.... maybe the archive got corrupted during download? Testprint is a text file... what does the contents of your 2.0.3 version look like? Mine says this:

#PDF-BANNER
Template default-testpage.pdf
Show printer-name printer-info printer-location printer-make-and-model printer-driver-name printer-driver-version paper-size imageable-area job-id options time-at-creation time-at-processing

It also has 351 bytes of EA's. Maybe yours were lost during unzip?

General Network Utilities http://en.ecomstation.ru/projects/gnu/ has an ARPScan function that does what you describe.

If you have Netdrive you can assign a folder to be a drive. So you could assign drive U: to C:\Programs\FHS. Then add UNIXROOT=U: to CONFIG.SYS and you are good to go.

Neil,

Hmmm... that sounds like what I was getting before the fix. I assume you added X:\vlc2\usr\local\lib to the LIBPATH per the README? If so, maybe there is a missing dll dependency or a codec? You can get info for the disc at Tools-> Codec Information. Might get a clue from that...

Thanks for the links Andreas! Didn't know about yum-utils....

Martin,

Try 'yum clean rpmdb', then 'yum check' again. The 'altered outside of yum' is a known cosmetic problem (that I wish they would fix soon - it looks very bad and is confusing). Also check for duplicate dll's in your libpath (Local System -> System Setup -> OS/2 Kernel -> System Paths -> choose 'Libpath' and click on the 'duplicates' button). If you find dll's in both your /usr/lib directory and in others, move the others out of your libpath. Reboot and try 'yum check' again.

Martin,

I would start by doing 'yum reinstall coreutils', then try yum check again (after rebooting) and see if the error for coreutils goes away. If it does, try doing that for each package listed with an error. If it does not, report this on the Netlabs Yum bugtracker.

Yes, I can play commercial DVD's with the new VLC and the fix. Using the DVD menu is definitely flakey. Try opening by Open File... and navigating to the drive and video file and playing directly, skipping the menu. That has worked for me on several occasions. I do have one video set (Lord of the Rings) that I can play but not watchable because it is out of sync and pixellated... maybe there are issues with our port of libdvdcss.

This: http://www.os2site.com/sw/upgrades/upgrades.html is also a great page for updating Warp 4. The 14.104a kernel is there. Get the one 'safe for Pentium Pro' and SMP (in order to be able to use ACPI).

 Erich,

As Andi B. notes, maybe you are using up all your shared memory? If you have the version 14.106 OS/2 kernel, you can try loading all the OpenOffice dll's into high memory using the script in the 'Extras' folder.

Erich,

EDITENG.dll and XO.dll are both part of the OpenOffice package and should be located in your OpenOffice.4\program directory. If they are missing then something went wrong with your install. They are also dependent on gcc1.dll, gcc473.dll and libc066.dll. There is a great little app called PMDLL (at hobbes.nmsu.edu) that you can use to figure out these kind of things...

Erich,

You could try Henk Kelder's Association Editor (Hobbes.nmsu.edu file assoed212.zip). From that you can add associations like *.*.*.zip or *.*.*.wpi etc. to your favorite Unzip program or WPI viewer.

I've seen that problem using the 2.2 beta versions of ndpsmb.dll. Also happens with MP3 and WAV files. The 2.1 GA version works fine here. I'm attaching to an OS/2 Samba server.
