I would think that this HW has long gone out of business.

Yes and misleading..
I've tried this driver with a current D-Link USB ethernet "card", which of course didn't work, EVEN THOUGH I've entered the correct hardware and vendor ID.
I thought when the driver is called "D-Link Corp. USB Ethernet Adapter", then it could work with mostly all of them, which wasn't the case. ; )

Hi Lars and Pete, exactly as you say.

I've installed the missing USB drivers from the official ArcaNoae USB stack. (simply all)
Then included them in config.sys (together with the already existing entry), and... IT WORKS like  charm. *___*

USBOHCD.SYS --> FOUND in config.sys
USBEHCD.SYS --> NOT in config.sys

Running linux commands on the Toughbook is rather tough... as this notebook suffers any boot methods than A:/C:, it's got only 192 MB of RAM (max), a single core 300 MHz.
ArcaOS went onto that notebook via cloning a virtual machine.

So the above lsusb output is from another notebook that can run the usb network card.
And: What is usbres?

Lars, the driver is called USBMOS.OS2, first included in the last USB-12_07.exe DL'ed from ArcaNoae subscription website.

The driver works fine on all my USB2 notebooks.
I will need to run the measures you have suggested on the target notebook and report back.

Networking / [SOLVED] Moschip USB to Ethernet for OS/2 not workingon USB1 port

I do have tested multiple notebooks with the USB network card and the "Moschip USB to Ethernet for OS/2". They all were working like a charm with that network "card".

I now tested with a Panasonic Toughbook CF-M34 MK1, which comes with a USB1 port.
ArcaOS runs fine, USB is enabled in BIOS, but the Moschip USB network card does not work, nor do its' lights turn on, just the USB power LED on the network connector, but not the LINK or TRAFFIC LED.
So I assume, the driver just cannot handle USB1?

Thanks in advance, I wonder what the reason is..

Not sure if Haiku OS will work in a triple setup, but I did a setup with ArcaOS, Linux Mint and Windows 8.1 a while ago.

Using the ArcaOS utilities to partition the hard drive went well for ArcaOS and Windows, but the Linux Mint installer (installed last) didn't want to let me use the previously made partition for Linux because "it is not properly aligned to HDD boundaries".
So I let it re-create the partition, installed Linux Mint, and then went back to ArcaOS maintenance mode and "corrected" the partition errors.
Everything works, everything boots.

And yes.. if your Linux distribution lets you install no boot manager at all, it would be for the best.
This is because installing grub onto the linux partition, you will see two boot managers at start:
1) start the machine
2) first AirBoot wants to know what to boot
3) if you select "Linux Mint", AirBoot boots directly into GRUB, where you can choose again. (makes little to less sense)

So.. would be best if Air Boot boots Linux directly without using GRUB at all.

Why? OS/2 IS great already!

Question is: If you ask 100 people in your town: "What is OS/2?", I guarantee 90% won't know.
The typical thing like back in the days, when OS/2 was still maintained by IBM: People don't know the product, and/or don't know what it is for.. and why they should give it a try, even though they have Windows running. :>

As for ArcaOS: As soon as the typical problems are gone (browser, usb, uefi, gpt, localisation), merchandise should start, so more people actually know the product. - Perhaps even a demo live CD. (Perhaps not like AOL-CDs which were EVERYWHERE xD). - I often see people interested, but they are not willing to spend 117 EUR just to try out a product.

Anyway.. getting offtopic a little bit, I think I could prove OS/2 is not well known enough to be compared with brands like Mc Donalds or KFC.

But still, as Guzzi said, there still is Copyright. And since IBM and Microsoft have their hands on that stuff, this might be a thread for these two (and their lawyers). I suspect goodwill is required to officially abandon the brand and hand it over to somebody else. You might not be able to fight for this at court, as these companies have the ressources and also the best lawsuits in the world..

And even though the brand is gone, world wide, it's still "glowing hot iron".. better not touch it. ; )

Potentially newly made merchandise should better not include the IBM brand.. like on these T-Shirts ; )
Just OS/2 (and/or Warp) would need to do.

And indeed.. a lawyer should maybe have a look into this, before anybody should use OS/2 (and/or Warp) on any selfmade products. Just to be on the safe side.

Don't tell IBM and Microsoft. It might be like with that guy back then, who realised the google.com domain had expired. So, he went and bought it... and google had to buy it back, after they found out. :>

Maybe ArcaOS can be renamed to OS/2 5 :p (just kidding)

As for German:
Programming commands are all in English. Havn't seen any exception but Excel 2000 VBA, which all of sudden had german commands, rendering all english sources useless as they weren't understood all of sudden anymore. Microsoft had learned from that disaster.. and so even for Excel: English commands everywhere (besides the possibility of using German ones).

As your example covers SQL: Yes, all in English, but as already said, international numbering might differ... like for instance the one-thousand divider in DE is . while in US and UK it is , --> 1.000 (EN would be 1,000)
In DE the numbers behind a full number are separated by , --> like 12,3 (EN would be 12.3)

Besides that, there should be no difference in programming.

I suppose this has nothing to do with the graphics card; At this early phase grahpics are either 80x25 text mode or 640x480 graphics mode, which all VGA cards (and BIOSes) can do.

I've faced a similar error display, when installing OS/2 Warp 4 on a very old notebook. I suppsed hardware is being scouted at the start, which fails in an error.

Let's wait for other opinions and for people who can actually read numbers on the error details.
