Utilities / Re: K File Wizard
« on: May 18, 2024, 03:18:54 pm »
Hello Neil

I tried K File Wizard with openssl-0.9.8zh-os2knix-20151207-runtime.zip.
I just put KCRYPTO.DLL i nthe same folder with kfw.exe

The software runs, but I tried a test SFTP. I get an error I can not connect to a directory with "System" encoding
I try it with UTF-8, it hangs here. The CPU spikes to 100% and I can only kill it with CAD and TOP.
On my Windows machine with Filezilla, I can connect to the test site.

Virtualization / Re: ArcaOS 5.1 on Apple Silicone
« on: May 17, 2024, 04:43:41 pm »
Hello Jean-Yves

I was checking the alternatives for a Mac with Apple Silicon to run ArcaOS. I don't know much about it since I don't have Macs.

If we go with the VirtualBox way to run ArcaOS as a guest, I found that there is an specific version of VirtualBox made for Apple Silicon. It is not on the main download page, but in the older releases pages:
It is listed on the 7.0.8 release as "Deloper preview for macOS / Arm64 (M1/M2) hosts"

Will it work on the M3 Apple Silicon? I guess I would need your help Jean-Yves to confirm if it works and if you can run ArcaOS there. But maybe it is only a virtualizer and does not emulate Intel.

I read yesterday that Broadcom has released Workstation Pro as freeware for non commercial use.
Thanks for sharing that. I found this post from may 13 that confirms that. I think it was a good move to try don't annoy the non-commercial/home users of it, and also maybe to try to get some space from VirtualBox.

Hi

HobbesArchive is up here:

I'm wondering, does KCRYPTO.DLL belongs to OpenSSL ??

The latest OpenSSL (OpensSSL_1-1-1lr1.zip - 2021-08-31) I found has "crypto11.dll".
Will it be good to ask KO Myung-Hun to try to recompile "K File Wizard" with a newer DLL link? or I'm wrong here?

https://roos.com/software.html

Thanks for the link.  It has a good screenshot of the OS/2 software running.

It says:
Quote
Accurate measurements are made not only by using the right equipment, but also employing the right practices. The software environment dynamically builds VNA, spectrum analyzer, and power meter functionality from the instrument configuration and resource interconnections. Combined with a code base of over 30 years of microwave test and measurement experience, Cassini delivers streamlined multi-instrument test in a simple, more powerful test work flow. This expert system software enables a user to design and execute sophisticated microwave measurements accurately and reliably every time.

And there is a link to the Cassini 16 device brochure: https://roos.com/parts/CASSINI/$file/CASSINI.pdf

I don't know if I'm over simplifying it, but I think this device is to test wireless devices, I don't know if chipsets or full devices. Looks that is tests frequencies from 0 to 90Ghz.

Maybe this is out of my league to understand. I want to know if the Cassini 16 device can be managed/administrated with OS/2. Or the Cassini device is a stand alone device and the "RI System Software - Desktop (Cassini Virtual Workstation & OS License)" (that comes in a OVA with ArcaOS) it is to interpret the testing data.

Regards

PD: By the way, this is only for fun to add more things to the Wiki page. I don't know about wireless frequencies, I don't work on that field.

Hello

Just today a community member sent me a link about a different industrial device that uses ArcaOS.
But I don't understand right if it is a device for wireless testing and what exactly it does.

It sell a product that bundles ArcaOS on a VirtualBox OVA and I guess with their software:
- Cassini Virtual Workstation & OS License
- https://roos.com/parts/RIK0126A
It is used for "offline development" but I have no idea what is that for.

The site has good tutorials to support their product with ArcaOS, like:
- Configuring TCP/IP Settings on Cassini EPC (OS/2, eCS, ArcOS)
- Update to the latest Firefox web browser (ArcaOS)

Any ideas to explain me better what are they selling?

Programming / Development Help with INF2Html
« on: May 12, 2024, 06:46:48 pm »
Hello

I need some help with Inf2Html. There is an issue while transforming to HTML some borderless tables (I guess).
I have the issue documented here: https://github.com/OS2World/UTIL-CONV-Inf2HTML/issues/1

Since this is an open source command line tool, I don't know if someone with development skills can please help with this issue, if it is easy to find out.

AN will answer you that it is not their SW.
The author is Sergey (glassman). The best you can do is find his email address or contact Eugene Gorbunoff who would know how to contact Sergey.
Hello Lars.

FOC is being included in ArcaOS, I think that opening a ticket will make they forward the issue to Glassman and Eugene. Both parties (Arca Noae and eCo Software) should be aware of this.

Hello

If it was demonstrated that a piece of code running with the eCo Runtimes FOC (included in ArcaOS) installed crashes, and the same works if eCo Runtimes are uninstalled, I think it will be good to create a ticket on the Arca Noae mantis. (https://mantis.arcanoae.com/).

I would be desirable to post the piece of code and executable if possible for the developer to try out.

General Discussion / Re: smp.inf - Adendum
« on: May 09, 2024, 09:19:52 pm »
Thank you guys.

I understand now that we have three version of the "SMP Programming Addendum". I guess I will name those release 1 to 3.

Release 1: (1996-08-29) The Warp Server 4 SMP toolkit version of the file.

Release 2: (1996-11-XX) Missing some topics from the Warp Server 4 version. Included in "DEvCon12 , CD2 and CD3" and DEvCon R2V2 CD1.

Release 3: (1997-03-12) Missing some topics from the Warp Server 4 version but including the "CVK_CMD_SCANPCB " documentation.

Any correction to my appreciation is welcome.

General Discussion / smp.inf - Adendum
« on: May 08, 2024, 02:13:46 pm »
Hello

Just checking a little bit on the EDM/2 for dead links, I found there is a "SMP Programming Addendum" (smp.inf) (Nov 1996), that I can not find the file.
Any idea where was it shipped? or any link to it?

I guess this should not be confused with "OS/2 for SMP V2.11 Reference" (also SMP.INF - First Edition (June 1994) ). Those are different files with the same name, right?

General Discussion / Re: OS/2 History Newsletters
« on: May 03, 2024, 04:27:51 pm »
Hello

Checking the crazy old stuff I found the os2tools_br files by @Macarlo. Those are Win32 exe programs that runs under Win-OS2 with Win32s for what I can see.

Are similar to an INF file describing in Portuguese some OS/2 software available.
I installed Win32s_1-25.zip

- os2tools_br16a.zip Runs fine.
- os2tools_br.zip traps OS/2 in VW32S. If i run it with Odin it says I'm missing Internet Explorer 4.

I don't expect much since it is not a relevant content for me, but just in case someone has an idea to fix this or have the same issue just let me know.
