Mark various DLL's to load high. Start with "highmem -c \usr\lib\Qt5*dll"

Was already done but idn't change the low shared storage utilization

Here's the thread, https://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php/topic,3174.0.html
Guess someone should raise an issue and get Gregg to rebuild them with Paul's changes.

Right, i forgot this thread.
Thanks

FYI: AVxCAT V2.1.0 is under test and very close to be GA ...
For those interested to test it, in addition with bug corrections, several new minor functions where added (download album-art by Discid, add EA's album-art icon nice to see the album cover instead of a generic music icon under WPS etc... FLAC, ALAC, AIFF etc...) and more, please send me a private message if interested to.

The official home is at https://trac.netlabs.org/mmcodecs/wiki where a ticket could be filed.
I seem to have alternate mmioFLAC.dll labeled Paul, I'll attach for testing purposes. I can't remember anything about it.

Hi Dave !
You are the best.
This mmioFlac only uses 1Mb ans storage is get back at stop time like when playing wav (from under WPS folder). Good
I didn't notice error during the test and will continue testing it.
Thanks

It all depends on how the IOProc is written.
You can load the whole FLAC file and convert into a WAV file and hold the result in memory. That makes it easy to implement seeks, reads and writes on the converted file (which is necessary as the MMOS2 can really only play/record WAV files). But it comes at a high cost in memory as WAV needs a lot of memory.
The alternative is to work blockwise, if the source format (FLAC in this case) is organized in this way because then, only a block of input data has to be converted but not the whole file. This is more memory friendly but also more difficult to implement (think about a seek half way into the WAV converted file: what would that location match in the FLAC source file?)
I suspect that the FLAC IOProc makes use of a library that is meant to convert a complete FLAC file into a WAV file and therefore that would match the first approach.

Storage should be released at stop play than but I suppose this is an old WPS issue... (due WPS restart releases the storage)
I plaied wav too but I didn't notice any abnormal storage use compared to flac. Next, I created a M3U list of flac and start playing this list from WPS. No extra storage used by this way !

I did more tests.
In fact, there is a problem with flac mmio ! only playing this type of codec makes WPS use 33Mb shared low storage.
flac is today the best option between lower files size without losing quality.

Is there someone which could have a look on this MMIO issue ?

It seems that Dooble is unable to pass cloudflare security !

DeepL is giving better translations than Google translate in my opinion.

In most cases, I agree

Multimedia / MMIO high storage utilization !

Hi,

I just saw something strange.
Playing an audio file directly under WPS uses nearly 30Mb of private low storage.
Playing the same audio file using PM123, no reduced free storage

In my case, the audio file is a FLAC file with include albumart + EA's album art icon

To get back the storage, I do WPS restart.

Did any see this symptom ?

Programming / Re: Bigicons
« on: January 04, 2024, 10:59:59 am »
Don't download anymore of the themes.  There will be one more update for all.  Found a few more things I missed.  I also found answers to some major problems that have alluded me.  In the next releases, all the old OS/2 icons should be replaced.  If there are some that don't update, reset the program object for those.  It should no longer be a mix of old and new icons.  I am slowly going through all the themes.   It may be a few days before I upload.  Guys, I am thrilled.  These few remaining problems have eluded me for months.  I think you will like all the major corrections.

I want a little input.  I am thinking about changing the network drive icon.  I uploaded a  pic of the another that can be used.  Which icon do you prefer. the old or the new?

I can add some of the samba icons to the packages if you want.  If so, I need the *.exe for the restart samba, start samba, and stop samba to assign icons to.

Hi David,

I would say that 80a is very nice for local network drives while 80 for remote network drives (e.g. in cloud)

Looking for an application that can record audio and possibly edit it similar to Audacity for OS/2 or ArcaOS. Not finding much.

You can use your webcam microphone to record an audio stream or look for other tools on author page.
https://home.hccnet.nl/w.m.brul/webcam10/index.html
AVxCAT with webcam10 is able to record your webcam (or stream on the network (limited function)).
Then, you can use it to cut/extract parts of the recorded file or if video file (any audio file can to xfert into video), you can create a diaporama like ouput but using selected time range from videos

you can output a pic of the waveform
ffmpeg -i input -filter_complex "showwavespic=s=640x240:split_channels=1" -frames:v 1 output.png
Why not set the pic length to the audio length size in seconds or 10th of seconds !
e.g. audio length 10 minutes -> 600 (1 pix = 1 s) or 6000 (1 pix = 0.1s)

But, you can send ffmpeg output into gnuplot which may provide a better and more like audacity view.
https://ecsoft2.org/gnuplot

more information here:
https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Waveform#AdditionalHints

Audacity has a lot of functions and plugins you will not find under OS/2 or ArcaOS

Ok, I build the dictionaries and set one dictionary to use.
I tried again to loging to os2world, first form (userid) was ok but as soon I click in the psw field, the page failes ! (replaced by a full grey page and have to reload it to get back)

Try, with Dooble closed, renaming %HOME%\.dooble and retry. Logging into OS2World works fine for me, just doesn't stay logged in after closing the browser, a cookie problem I assume.

Action resolved the problem
