Thanks! I downloaded and followed Martin's instructions and I have dooble-QT6 running.

Interesting observation: I wondered if I was missing some depenencies, so I ran PMDLL Qt6WebEn.dll

PMDLL does not do anything useful after that. Maybe it was never intended to work on such a complex DLL.

I tend to use chkdll32.exe rather than pmdll - for no real reason :)

Hello Sigurd

Great video.

Just to push the test a little bit further.

1)  Does the machine has Audio input? Maybe on the same speaker jack?
Maybe you can try it with "Digital Tape Recorder" to see if it record from an mic.  (Non USB).
1.1) If you have audio input, why don't test this Win32 (Odin) app (Spectrogram) to see if the Audio input works. I got this video playing with the app, but on a VM.

2) Do you want to try the Win-OS/2 Audio? Do you have access to the Arca Noae test site to try DTAudio? But this is experimental and maybe will make your system unstable.

I installed it and quickly created a package that mostly goes into /@unixroot/usr/local with one file, perllocal.pod in /@unixroot/usr/lib/perl5. If that already exists, add the contents of the mine to the end of the file.
I also include exiftool.cmd so that you can simply run exiftool instead of doing perl exiftool.
Feedback and suggestions welcome. can also be the basis for a new WPI

Hi David

WPIView 1.1.0 is not found on hobbesarchive.

Can be found on FilePile https://www.os2site.com/sw/util/installers/wpiview110.zip

As announced in the UNIAUD thread I created a video about Paul Smedleys great success so far with bringing Sound on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 2024 alive.

Thanks Paul!

YOu can watch it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGrzGjOJPdI

Subtitles in different languages are available as this video is produced in German.

Hope you enjoy! All the best,

Sigurd

Critics and suggestions welcome!!

Hi,

thanks for all your suggestions so far.
I also guess, that the WPI tool only cares for other WPI installations, but not for RPM packages.
There are some Perl RPMs on my system, the one named "Perl" is on version 5.16.1-9.
Dave's suggestion to install Paul's Perl 5.8.8 WPI package was my first idea but it is not available (for me) anywhere.

So there seems no other way as to inspect the WPI package in its details, as Lars already suggested in the German OS/2 forum.
I'm not familiar with this and I will try to follow Steven's advice. This will take some time and whenever I succeed I will report it here.

Hansi

There is a way to inspect wpi packages.  Works great.  The wpi is below.

There is an update  to the exe at Hobbes. With the latest exe file, you can also view wpi in their exe form also.

As you can see from the pic below, you can view the files in the wpi, install or extract the files, view the script, the setting found in the script, and info about the wpi.

Hello,

Quote
Because "EXIFtool_2-2.zip" (2005) is from Marcel Mueller and it is a .exe binary with it's source code.
ExifTool Perl Module (ExifTool_Perl_9-46.wpi) (2014) I have no idea how to use it.
Martin, according to its description this version from Marcel Mueller doesn't handle mp4 videos which is my basic intention.

I downloaded https://exiftool.org/Image-ExifTool-13.27.tar.gz, it doesn't even need installed. You should install some other Perl packages, see the README, then open ANPM, go to the available packages, scroll down to perl and you should be able to guess which packages supply stuff, eg the 1st 2 requirements,
Dave, thank you very much for this possibility.
I alread made a quickcheck and could successfully read the recording date of one of my mp4 videos. So it does what I want by using an up to date Perl installation :) :) :) and I don't need to worry further about the 9-46 WPI package any longer.

Background of my question is to treat the videos of my camera in a similar way as my jpg photos.
I have a REXX procedure which renames my photos in a sequence which follows the shooting timestamp of them.
PMView can easily set the file timestamp to the shooting timestamp in the EXIF data. So I don't have to care about the timestamps when the jpgs are written to my PC or when I have worked on them. Of course, PMView doesn't care for videos.
That is where the EXIFTool comes in. I now can read out the recording dates of my mp4s and I'm planning to use touch.exe to set the file date(s) accordingly.

Thanks Dave as well for your Dooble translations and all of you for your responses in this matter.

Hansi.

Hi Jan-Erik
Would he agree to that someone sign a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement)
and either let that person remove the code or himself if we'd scramble money to do it?

At a later stage it would be interesting if Gpf Rexx could work with ooRexx 5.x

I think I contacted the author long time ago. If memory serves me correctly, the issue was that the source code of GpfRexx contains the scramble procedure of any work created with that tool. That will mean that you can de-compile any software created GpfRexx if the author releases the source code. I think he does not want to have any kind of problems with that.

Maybe with a NDA, if someone gets the source code, to open source it will be required not to include that scramble procedure and maybe change the software in a way that the scramble code is customized by any software author.

Regards

During our mail exchange, Mr. Clerin was thinking about releasing the source code to the public, after removing all the cryptographic parts that might allow someone to decompile GPF REXX built programs. Afterwards, he decided to just lend me a personal license to replace my original lost one and a generic OS/2 license, so that there was no need for him to get up and running an OS/2 environment which he didn't have anymore.

This is what I was able to get, and I don't think he really wants to go deeper that way. But if someone is willing to ask him, maybe we could write him a petition with an NDA to continue GPF REXX development and maybe change the REXX core used, removing the registration code, or something similar. I'm thinking a mixed style license could do the job (of course no GPL, and this means that no open source software would be attached to the software or we'd have to disclose all the source code).
