Hi Renee,

Hey All,

Updated to 3.16.85 - http://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-3.16.85-20200812.zip

More one sound interface tested:

Detected UNIAUD version 2.02.05
Detected 1 audio adapter(s)
Card info for adapter 0:
  num: 0
  id: ICH5
  driver: ICH4
  name: Intel ICH5
longname: Intel ICH5 with CMI9739 at irq 17
  mixer: C-Media Electronics CMI9739
  componenets: AC97a:434d4961

Tests were done with Package 20200506, uniaud32-linux-3.12.74, uniaud32-linux-3.14.79 and the last uniaud32-linux-3.16.85.
In all tests sound hardware is not identified by os/2 (ArcaOS 5.0.5), although uniaud32.sys is normally loading at boot.
Seems that are not any sound hardware. Applications like Klondike Solitaire, Mahjongg Solitaire, with sound enabled by default, show messages of "No device driver found" .

To know if was not an ALSA problem, I boot a live cd of linux Ubuntu 12.10 with ALSA version 1.0.24. All sound works as expected, without problems.

unimix -list resulted from uniaud32-linux-3.16.85 and pci.exe are attached.

An alsa log would be interesting.
copy alsahlp$ alsa-cmi9739.log

Hi, alsa-cmi9739log.txt is attached.

What are your driver parameters in the config.sys ?
Did you try with /A:1 ?

With uniaud32.sys /A:1 in config.sys I get the error messages below:

Applications / Re: CUPS - foo2hbpl2

Hi Rene

If you create a ticket about the missing backend you then have a chance that the people involved with porting cups will be able to look into porting that backend.

Just label it an enhancement rather then a defect.

Thanks to all! But does not matter anymore. All Xerox Workcentre 6015 series are out of line now and is impossible to find parts for replacement. My MFP goes went to waste!

Hardware / Re: VM Parallel support inside OS/2
« on: August 11, 2020, 09:38:04 pm »
I'm about to take the plunge and get AcraOS for my old ThinkPad T40. The only thing I use it for right now is connecting to an old fax/scanner (HP LJ 3100). I still want to use the fax machine going forward, but understand OS/2 will not have drivers. So I'm wondering if I ran a VM inside OS/2, is the parallel port support good enough to interface to the printer from the VM? If so, which one? I'll probably run NT 4.0 or 2000 in the VM.

Hi, you didn't say what VM application you intend to use inside ArcaOS (Virtual PC, SVista or VirtualBox) but enabling and configuring a parallel port is not the better idea ( if really possible with the versions available of this applications for OS/2). You should share the printer (fax) on the virtual network.

I think the better solution is forget the VM and send/receive faxes from ArcaOS with PMFax or with the complete FaxWorks Pro for OS/2. If there are no drivers for your internal modem, try an external serial or usb.

Multimedia / Multi-Channel Surround Sound Systems
« on: August 11, 2020, 08:56:15 pm »
Uniaud32.sys (as ALSA) has controls related to multi-channel surround systems. I have already tested with  ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/uniaud/old/multtest.zip some real (hardware) multichannel sound cards (4.1, 5.1) like Sound Blaster Live 5.1, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and onboard interfaces like Realtek HD Audio in Asus M3A78-EM motherboard.

My question here is about these "pseudo" multi-channel onboard audio interfaces, like Realtek HD Audio, VIA Tech HD Audio, etc., announced to be 4.1,5.1, etc. surround channels capable, where software is used to redirect back panel microphone and line-in connectors as the additional audio channels output.

Are there any application or means to use this feature in OS/2 or it is completelly useless?

Yes, the new player doesn't support digital transfer and the classic needs it set under the View menu.

Thanks Dave. Setting "Digital transfer" in the View menu of CD Player (Classic) works with this player.

Anybody know why CD Audio player ( new and classic too) go crazy, jumping from track to track and playing nothing at all. This happens with ArcaOS and with eCS 2.1. Drive (hardware) is working ok in Windows and Linux. My pc has IDE and SATA ports and I tested with an IDE drive and a SATA drive. Same result!

I am with ArcaOS 5.0.5 and Uniaud package 20200506. As usual, after installation (and reboot) "Master Front Playback Volume" and "Front Playback Volume" is switched ON but level setted to zero. Volume.exe has no effect. All sound level is controlled only by Unimix settings. I saw that unimix -save <file> not works anymore (always file missing message output). Motherboard interface is High Definition Audio NVidia.

Thanks Pete, but I think it's not a case to open a ticket. It's not a defect. It requires the  addition of a cups backend.

Asking all people here again. Any chance to get foo2hbpl2 in OS/2 CUPS? Any chance to have  Xerox Workcentre 6015NI printing from OS/2? Even Minolta Magicolor was included. Why not HBPL printers supported by foo2hbpl2?

Hi,unfortunately only foo2hbpl supports Workcentre 6015. I have tried the others without success. I ask Smedley (Paul) some time ago but I think He didn't had time until now.

Google Cloud Print Klipp, I have used with FF ESR 24.8.1 in eCS. As I have my printer registered a week ago in GCP (I thing I did with an Ubuntu box with Chrome or Chromium, where I have the printer installed as a wifi network printer) I have only to access https://www.google.com/cloudprint?user=0#printers logged im my Google account and click in PRINT to select the file to print. It only accepts pdf, ps, jpeg, png and gif, so I have used to convert my jobs tp pdf with Open office. No problems until now. In Ubuntu I can use the option to covert directly to pdf to Google Drive but not works in eCS.

The description of my printer in GCP is:

Applications / eCups - foo2hbpl
« on: June 12, 2015, 02:06:19 am »
Have we any news on the port of this package -  http://foo2hbpl.rkkda.com/ ? My Xerox WorkCentre 6015 NI printer and others printers will be supported by eCups  someday? Sometime ago Paul  (Smedley) said to me that this port should not be too difficult to do.  I am sure that many of us will be happy with this port and even would like to collaborate  :)

Anyway for now my solution for printing is Google Cloud Printer via FF. My print job goes a long way to my 6015 at my side, but prints  :)
