Utilities / Highmem.exe and Pmwp.dll - it will not work!
« on: August 30, 2015, 11:23:20 am »
Yesterday I patched "Pmwp.dll" using "Highmem.exe" to make it load above 512 MB.
Not only PM doesn't start after that patch...
DMT immediately broke WPS INI files.  :o
I used WPS Backup to restore them (DMT also has backup/restore capabilites).
Don't try to repeat this experience.

Of course, FireFox 31+ works well.

Version 31.8.0 works correctly.
Moreover, it works above 512 MB, after markup by highmem.exe.

Developers' salary around those "user-friendly" languages is a nightmare.
And performance isn't fine too...

By the way, Alex, would you like to remove global variables from the language?
And add "out" and "ref" keywords to procedure arguments?
Here are two examples with recursion and no globals:

Both PHP and Drupal are completely useless.

Yes, it looks good.
And language too  :)

OS/4 has its own screen and clock drivers.

Never understood why almost everyone has links/programs on the desktop, as soon as you start a program they are under the program and you can't see them, unless you have real estate to spare.
It's from Classic Mac OS, with its top-level menu bar and box-style windows. Mac users rarely maximized them.

Both "ACPI.PSD" and "OS4APIC.PSD" works with OS/4 kernel, both debug and release versions of the kernel.

I also had some troubles with network connectivity: my local service provider ("SmileNet" a.k.a. "InfoLine") uses too small MRU packets... the only SafeFire can work with it, using 1480 byte MRU.

Kolibri is a project maintained by Russian developers to keep their CVs up to date. I know them and I know that there's no forces to sponsor them. Moreover, there is no demand in Russia for such software developers at all, because in oil- and gas-driven economy very few people needs software; it is easier to hire two specially trained monkeys. The OS itself is a mess of assembly code with jump operators and global variables, it is obviously a demo project to sell some services (for example, to police or military forces - they would like to harness them, promising "career growth" in the "future"... and maybe, even air conditioner in the office).

FireBee could be another example. And AROS too.
