Title: Agena programming language
Post by: muffetta on August 23, 2014, 06:14:57 pm
Hi, seem that the Agena programming language is not more developed for our community, i asked to the author for an update. I think that for study is a great software. Waiting for an answer.
Agena is now at 2.2.6 version, and we are at 1.1.3, does we need also the gdi and the agenaeditor?

Hi,

with respect to Barbara's posting:

Thank you very much for your interest. I will try to compile a new OS/2 version of agena and may need
some help especially on the g2 binding (graphics).

Thanks Alexander for joining.

I have one question, is there any repository, or place to seek for programs developed in Agena language? Is there a community for this language that shares resources?

Regards.
Martin

If there are programs and resources available for productivity shared on the net I do not know, but for a math teacher is an excellent tool for introducing students to math and programming: they learn math apparently playing and with fun and at the same time learn how to convert an algorithm into lines of code immediately visible step by step, they will be great programmers using this teaching method, believe me  :D !

Hello,

I do not know of any `external` repository of Agena programmes - primarily since there is almost
no interest in such an exotic language, and surely the donwload rates have always been very low.

For some math programmes, you might have a look into the /lib folder of the source file distribution available at

http://sourceforge.net/projects/agena/files/Sources/

See files calc.agn (Calculus), linalg.agn (Linear Algebra), stats.agn (Statistics), and fractals.agn (Fractal computing).

Cheers,

Alex

Hello,

due to Dave Yeo's very kind help, I may publish a stable eCS version of Agena next week at Sourceforge.

Hello,

I have just uploaded a WarpIN installer of Agena 2.3.0 RC 1 for eComStation:

   http://sourceforge.net/projects/agena/files/Binaries/Agena%202.3.0%20RC%201/agena-2.3.0RC1-ecs.os2.wpi/download

Although `RC 1` may sound like `beta`, it is a stable version of Agena. The eCS version currently does not feature the `net`,
`gdi`,  `fractals`, and `xml` packages. I also did not have time to update the manual, yet.

You may find the sources at:

   http://sourceforge.net/projects/agena/files/Sources/agena-2.3.0RC1-ecs.os2.src.tar.gz/download

A crash course on the language is available here:

   http://sourceforge.net/projects/agena/files/Manuals/agena-crashcourse.pdf/download

Any feedback would be nice.

Alex
