Hi,
I tried the recommended adjustments recommended, but still no job in Mudville.

Maybe someone could point the way from these screen captures?

Setup & Installation / BonusPak installation, fail.

Using the installation notes here:
   https://www.arcanoae.com/wiki/arcaos/post-install-tips-hints/installing-ibm-works-on-arcaos/

Took OS/2 4 CD, and copied /bonuspak directory to:
   d:\fi\bonuspak\ibmworks

Modified source and media drives set to d: in bpbase.rsp

Ran ibmworks.cmd from the command line.

Very quickly, I get a line that says ibmworks...
                      another                    checking ...
             and yet another                    checking ...

Then the window closes.

Looking at the log file, I see this:

I don't think I have a bonuspakbase.rsp here, just: bpbase.rsp

Good day today, first I went down a wrong path, I found some websites, that lead me down a road of copying a bunch of files from /os2 to /os2additions.
I guess that was for old versions of virtualbox, I'm using 7.0 release something or other.

Then I found ReadmeArcaos in c:\os2additions directory, lots of good information in the readme on vboxcontrol and the vboxservice

At first I was going to do like windows and map under c, but then I found, I could map a whole new drive letter (d:) which I did and it worked great.

I copied the watcom installer (from 88watts) to the shared folder and ran it.

Then I was able to compile and run mthread.c from the os/2 sample directory.

Neil,
  > GL.iNet family of travel routers

Thanks, and yes, I have a GL.iNet travel router, also my home router is a GL-MT6000 - and I couldn't agree with you more.

I was looking at something smaller to throw in with a traveling laptop.  I know Lewis wrote up docs on the GWU627, but the GWU627 is no longer available, and appears to have been replaced with the GWU637.

Thanks, I've done that windows emulation (7/xp) on Win11 - but didn't know if it worked with AOS.

I will try it and report back.

I would like an easy way to make files available on a Windows11 machine (running virtualbox) available to Arca OS 5.1.1 running as a VM under vitualbox.
What is the easiest way to make files available?

> System Setup

That came up today, in my play.

I couldn't figure out how to find that in PM, or start it on the command line.

Can I buy a vowel?

Setup & Installation / Re: Reading a usb thumb drive on arcaos 5.1.1

Looking at my comment again, my recommendation to anyone would probably be, after using diskinit, reboot.

Maybe you shouldn't have to, but I think something somewhere wasn't getting cleared or refreshed.

Dave,
I followed the docs and it works fine moving between Win11 and ArcaOS.

  A few notes:
    1) Booted with drive in.
    2) I first started miniLVM and it said the partition table was corrupt.
         Closed miniLVM.
    3) Used initdisk to erase and partition with mbr
    4) unplugged and replugged
    5) "notification area" (not sure what that's properly called in presentation manager, said drive unuseable.
    6) Shutdown, restarted.
    7) Green light on usb drive, was able to follow the rest of the directions in this document.

The document just says 'format the drive' - I would suggest, adding the example:
      format x: /fs:fat32

Setup & Installation / Re: pscom.sys proper way to pass args

I think it was Neil that asked if this T43 had a physical COM1.

I thought it did, but I went and double checked. The BIO's has enable / disable but I guess that's for some sort of external device.

The T43 in question has:
VGA Out
PS2
Modem
Ethernet
Audio in/out
2 USB
2 PC Card Slots.
and a Parallel port - but no Serial - it's there in the BIO presumably for a dock station.

I have two other (older model thinkpads) - that DO have physical COM ports. Also oddly the older thinkpads have blue colored VGA out ports, the T43's VGA out is black.

I will have to try my FTDI USB > RS232 adapter.

Ok Doug, I love to play with ThinkPads, $50 is an ok impulse buy.

Spec's say it can take 16GB, with ArcaOS be unhappy if it finds more than 4GB, or would it just ignore?

75
>BTW do you have an SSD in the T43 ? Or a disc with revolving platters ? You can install an SSD I think in T43 if you have not done so.

No workey for me. Per Thinkpad Forums.
Some people have luck with using m2>ide sleds. Maybe it depends on model of ThinkPad, maybe it's the m2 adapter, tends to be in the air.
I also tried a real transcend solid state ide drive.

Also, if you very electronically talented, you can convert a T43 to run SATA, but that's above my pay grade and no one does that thing commercially.
