I wonder how many other operating systems can one install on this? It indicates Linux and Windows 10.

I think it is neat and compact. It is like a tablet computer with a keyboard.

I wonder if one could install OS/2 Warp, eComStation or ArcaOS onto it?

I think it is a neat little computer.

Hardware / Re: ArcaOS 5.00 on an Lenovo IdeaPad?
« on: October 12, 2018, 05:11:00 am »
Thank you for the link. When I bought it, the box had the laptop and the power chord. It had nothing else. I will try to get the updated versions of the ArcaOS; 5.03? I believe there is one that can install from an USB drive? Perhaps it would work better than using an optical disc in an USB optical drive?

I will try again.

It does not have an internal optical drive. I connected it to an USB optical drive.

Hardware / ArcaOS 5.00 on an Lenovo IdeaPad?
« on: October 12, 2018, 03:20:58 am »
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad that I am trying to install ArcaOS 5.0 on. It gets to 'internal revision 14.200_SMP' and stops. It goes no farther. It was on sale at Best Buy store (said it did not have a power adapter but it was in the box).

Lenovo IdeaPad 120S_14IAP
BIOS 6GCN20WW
MIM 81A5001UUS
Lenovo SN F82819E1-E701-0818-062808000000
CPU Intel Celeron CPU N3350 @ 1.10GHZ
SYSTEM MEMORY 2048 MB
eMMC CARD SANDISK iNAND 32GB
PREINSTALLED OS LICENSE SDKOJ91216 WIN
OA3 KEY ID 3259110085699
OA2 N

BOOT MODE LEGACY  - OPTION UEFI
BOOK PRIORITY - LEGACY OPITON UEFI

SATA SSD
eMMC CARD SANDISH iNAND 32GB

This is the information I copied from the bios. I will check the box to see if there is any more information there.

I had tried it on another computer. It installed but with limitations. This IdeaPad is bigger and newer.

I tried to change the settings on the installation of the ArcaOS but the keys did not seem to function - the tab did for a short time but it froze up.

Any help would be appreciated.

It indicates it is a 'pocket pc' since it has an X86 processor. Perhaps this means it could run different operating systems?

I was able to connect to the internet and OS/2 World by using a network cable directly to my cable modem. Now I can surf the internet and download files directly to my computer.

My computer is an Acer Aspire One. The CPU is an Intel Atom N455, 166 ghz andd 512 KB cache. The memory is 1 gigabyte DDR3. The battery is a 6-cell Li-On. Storage is 250 gigabyte HDD. It has a 10.1 LED LCD. It indicates multi-gesture for the touch pad. It has 'signal up' but I don't know what that is. It is wifi certified.

I am looking for the file I created before with system information. I will try to post it here. I want to use the wifi but a direct connection to the cable box works for now.

General Discussion / OS/2 at WinWorld Libary?
« on: January 09, 2018, 05:37:45 am »
I was at another forum and found this link. It is WinWorld Libary. They have an OS/2 section.
https://winworldpc.com/library/operating-systems
They also have a section for DOS / CP/M, Windows and Apple/MAC, *nix and 'other OS and Shells'. They have files for these operating systems that one can download. Has anyone tried any of them?

Polls / Re: Compatibility with OS/2

After IBM had won that lawsuit against Microsoft for stopping OS/2 Warp from being pre-installed on computers, I had hoped they would continue developing their operating system to compete with Windows. Alas, they did not. I am glad there was eComStation and now Arca Noae to continue.

It would be neat if there was some backward compatibility but I don't see it as being critical.
