Title: Any Interest in a Hardware Database?
Post by: Dano on March 15, 2018, 01:33:12 pm
I've used this site before:
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=361236&s=50c2b591d32b8ba7b6c68a9a7bb02546

It has been helpful several time, when trying to install ubuntu on hardware that is unfamiliar to me.

Recently, I was able to install ArcaOS 5.0.2 on an HP Pavilion s3720y with an Evo 850 SSD.
There were several steps to be made in the installer to make this happen. It would be helpful to have a place to document this, so as to cut down on time to install for someone installing on the same hardware.

Does such a place exist?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan.

In my case I had been using the OS2World Wiki to document working hardware for OS/2, eComStation and ArcaOS.
https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Hardware (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Hardware)

I know that a wiki it is not a database, but it is something very easy to update and collaborative.

It can be interesting if you post the PCI.exe report of the HP Pavilion s3720y to also document it.

There are some other place, but I prefer the OS2World wiki because it is more collaborative and I use a license where the information can be shared.
There is also:
- OS2Warp.be (http://os2warp.be/index2.php)
- eComStation RU Hardware Database (http://en.ecomstation.ru/hardware.php).

Hi again Dan.

It can be something like this:
https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/HP_Pavilion_Slimline_s3720y (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/HP_Pavilion_Slimline_s3720y)

You can put your installation tips/tricks on the wiki page (Same user and password of this forum).

If you provide the pci.exe report  (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Extracting_Hardware_Information_from_ArcaOS_and_OS/2)we can give more details of the components that are working.
