Hi Andreas,

Perhaps How I installed SANE and TAME for the first time on my ArcaOS system. I used a two step approach. helps you in getting your CanoScan LiDE 210 scanner working.

The sane-find-scanner.exe (size 81.044) works and shows:found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x190a [CanoScan], chip=GL124) at libusb:001:005

Speaking about backends. The scanimage.exe that works (size 4.817.128) has the sane scanner specific backends linked in.

Wim

thanks so much for your message. and sorry for the late response.
still i have my problem. but at least now i know that there should be a solution since in your case it works.

i just found out, that i have sane-backends, sane-backends-daemon and sane-backends-libs installed, but not
sane-backends-drivers.scanners, though my try trial to install it leads to the information that i have all packages
installed...

Hi andreas

Which version of libusb10.dll is installed? - the current release of libusb1 is 1.0.21-2 plus the libusb1-legacy-0 release 1.0.16-2

Some debugging tips from the 1.0.27 readme.os2 :-

requires the following environment variable set so that Sane can find it's configuration files:
set sane_config_dir=?:\sane\etc\sane.d
where ? = drive letter involved

set SANE_DEBUG_SANEI_USB=255 - turns on debug information for the USB interface

I suggest you create a simple cmd file to set variables and test scanner eg:-

rem scan.cmd
set sane_config_dir=j:\programs\sane\etc\sane.d
set beginlibpath=j:\programs\sane\lib;
set SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255
scanimage -L 2> debugL.log

(change drive letters to suit your system)

Hopefully when run in the scanimage directory will create debugL.log which can be examined in the editor to try and spot where things go wrong.

Regards

Pete

hi pete,
thanks for the script.
i had to change the location for beginlibpath to usr\lib\sane.

the debug log says: No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

unfortunatelly that's all i get...

hi lars,
unfortunatelly this is not the problem. my usbcalls.dell is brandnew (04.01.21).
still pl-dll tells me: "dll initialization routine failled" (same with usb100.dll)
not using RPM here. ps/2 pc is not connected to the net.

i have a canon Lide 210 scanner.
i read it is supported by sane, still here it is not mentioned: http://www.fbakan.de/sane-os2-configuration.htm
also not listed within tame..

guess it is not supported by os/2? hope i am wrong..

when i start sane-find-scanner.exe all i see is black..

pm-dll shows red for usb100.dll and usbcalls.dll
my usb100.dll's date is 23.12.19
usbcalls.dll from 29.10.20

not sure if it helps in your case. i'm still using version 4.111.
found out that the progran didn't start with newer versions of libc066.dll.
i copied a version from 10/26/2014 into the program folder to get the program running...

wrote you already a mail. but mane also others might have the same problem. so i repeat it here:
problem was a missing SSP0.dll, that you can find in the gcc-9_2_0-5_oc00.zip - package.

thanks very much for your quick reply. i will send you the requested files.
i use version 1.5.1.4 and the rxu.dll from 12.08.2017.
I replaced it with the version from 2.05.96 but that didn't help (i'll send you the logfile also. it's FCA66103.tmp, ffmpeh-file had same content as with the newer rxu-dll-version).

also tried a version from 13.05.1996, but that lead to an error 43 when i started AVxCat. i also couldn't start print2ps.cmd for ePDF any more - strange, cause the dll-version is from that program - anyway epf stopped working since a few days for some unknown reason though i did't change anything (only thing i did was triying out some java-programs). Just telling this, cause there might be some connection with my problem with AVxCat.
I also used ffmoeghigh as suggested. unfortunatelly it didn't help. used it on ffmpegca-ecs.dll, ffmpqggca.dll and rxu.dll.

you write that there will be a new version of the program. when will it be available?
i really like your program. before i updated to AN5.05 it worked fine with AN5.01

Couldn't find the link for uploading the log-files. Will send you here...

i have a problem with AVxCAT :
trying to convert mp3-files to wav format always leads to an error "12" with no files appearing in the destination folder. trying to convert a while folder leads to only getting an empty folder.
tried also to convert into other formats with the same result.
i have all the newest modules installed...
