Hi
About: tuxfootball-0.3.1-os2.zip (https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/games/tuxfootball-0.3.1-os2.zip)
Tux Football is not running at all for me. I try to run it on OS/2 windows and full screen session and I see like a quick command prompt window that disappears and I can not get any error. Nothing in POPUPLOG.
It uses SDL as I can see. I have:
- LIBC066.DLL - 3-28-20 - 316,502
- STDCPP6.DLL - 7-22-20 - 1,182,921
- GCC473.DLL - 7-22-20 - 4,119
- SDL12.DLL - 10-05-20 - 278,457
- SDLMIXER.DLL - 10-05-20 - 954,603
- SDLIMAGE.DLL - 10-05-20 - 733,447
If the game is running for someone, please let me know.

I would try an older build of sdl12.dll - unfortunately there are multiple builds floating around that aren't compatible with each other....

Hi Martin
The current SDL12 RPM package does not contain most of the required sdl*.dll files
I unzipped the dll files from the sdl package recommended in the readme.os2 file into the same directory as tuxfootball.exe
The game now almost starts by double clicking tuxfootball.exe; the window appears onscreen with 2 lines of text, 2nd line being something about "rendering pitch" and then locks the system requiring a reboot.

Hi Paul
Almost... Based on your suggestions I tried this versions that I got on some other game.
11-05-08 - 106,574 --- FSLIB.DLL
11-05-08 - 188,402 --- SDL12.DLL
1-21-07 - 554,915 --- SDLIMAGE.dll
1-21-07 - 412,322 --- SDLMIXER.dll
Now it tries to show something on the black screen... like .. "Starting Renderer ... Loading Pitch" and it disappears again.

Hi
I had go back to "SDL-1.2.15-20140930.zip" Tux Football now freeze the VM and Top does not want to kill the app.
I'm thinking it may be also a problem with the libc, gcc or STDCPP libraries, like something broke with newer libc libs.

Hi Martin,
I just recompile it, using latest rpm stuff
Just copy to /usr
I can play the game now with sound.
But i have only trouble to quit the game, it gives ..
C:\usr\bin>tuxfootball.exe

Thanks Tellie.
Its good that you compiled it on SDL2. It is running here now.
Sound is not yet working on my side. I'm not sure what is missing.
If I select "Redefine Keys" on the game menu it quits the tame (faster than the quit option).
I'm experiencing the same issue on quit.
General Notes: I had installed with ANPM SDL2, SDL2_image and SDL2_mixer (from Netlabs-exp (http://rpm.netlabs.org/experimental/00/zip/))

SDL2_mixer is missing mod support, which when I compiled Rocks'nDiamonds recently resulted in no sound. Might be the same with Tux Football.

Hi.
Just some progress on the sound. I tried it on real hardware (Thinkpad L420) and sound is working. I don't know what is happening on the VirtualBox VM.

Hi Tellie
If it is not much to ask, can it be possible for you to share the makefile you use on ArcaOS to compile this? I may learn something from it. What else did you changed on the original source code to compile it?

Hi Martin,
I did not change any, i just run my cmake script as i use cmake to get it build..
Make in the dir a subdir named like you wish f.e os2-build
cd to that dir and just run sh c:/usr/bin/conf-soccer.txt
This i have inside the txt file:
export LDFLAGS="-Zhigh-mem -Zomf -lcx -lintl_dll"
export CFLAGS="-O2 -g -march=i686"
export CXXFLAGS="-O2 -g -march=i686"
export FFLAGS="-O2 -g -march=i686"
export FCFLAGS="-O2 -g -march=i686"
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH=/@unixroot/usr \
-DOS2_USE_CXX_EMXEXP=ON \
-DCMAKE_SKIP_RPATH:BOOL=YES \
-DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=release \
-Wno-dev .. 2>stdout 1>stderr
