most icons are packed in DLL files. These can be extracted with Martin Lafaix's Resource Decompiler, for example. I quickly tried the pmwp.dll and the pmviop.dll. The result is in the ZIP file.
I am still looking for more images as soon as there is some time for it.
@Dave I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the tip. But after a first short test, not much has changed, except for a few additional objects on the desktop. Unfortunately, the colors were not taken over. Styler is of course deactivated. So these are then adapted via the scheme palette.
I think it's less about functions than an overall fresher look. However, it is likely to be difficult without the source code.
I have been using OS/2 for exactly 30 years now. During the Christmas holidays I will take a closer look at adapting Arcaos to the look and feel from OS/2 2.1. It would also be nice to have a high-resolution icon set, corresponding adaptation of the color (probably the simplest part) and maybe a few smaller patches of the Pmmerge.dll. Let's see what is feasible ...
Ok, thank you for the information. I was subscribed to the IBM OS/2 and DOS ServicePac CDs at the time. Only the full version of version 1.1 was included here. Unfortunately, a 1.5 or a patch could not be found. At least not until mid 98, after which I canceled the subscription.
Unfortunately, what I can't find anywhere is VisualAge for Basic Version 1.5. SoftMaker's DataMaker for OS/2 would also be interesting software. As would the project management software OPUS 2.0 or MGI PhotoSuite.
@Martin: Is there a way to get VisualAge for Basic for OS/2 free use permission from IBM? I think it's still a very viable solution for developing small programs quickly.
Unfortunately, mine doesn't work under Arcaos either. I also use a ThinkPad T560 with a docking station, although the USB ports in this combination on the dock do not work anyway. Unfortunately I cannot use Lars drivers because there is no USB 2.0.
Could it be that WordPerfect uses the Micrografx Mirrors? Micrografx Draw, Micrografx Designer and Corel Mosaic for OS/2 use the Mirrors and have problems with the display of colors. You can easily use these programs if you drive back the color depth of the graphics driver, e.g. to 256.
Does anyone know if there was ever a fix for the Mirrors who fixes the problem?
