Do you need a pci or isa scsi card? I have a few lying around.

I am no expert on copyright law. I think however that rewriting the loader needs reverse engineering and that would make it a copyright infringement. They put a lot of work in the os/4 loader and kernel and it's basically been a waste of effort because of legal issues. A shame really.

I tried to install it today. It came as far as the disk test in phase 1. Reported incomplete  LVM info on disk 1 and 2 and told me this is normal on a non-eCS system. This computer runs eCS though. It offered to fix the problems, I clicked ok (have a backup). After that I started the install again and it said drive 1 was ok, but 2 still had errors. Didn't show any partitios to install to. I broke the installation off and rebooted from harddisk. Bootmanger showed the wrong drive letters, but the system booted. Used DFSEE to fix the LVW info and reinstall bootmanager. Next try when I have more time and have figured out what's wrong with the lvm setup.

I've been using OS/2 since warp 3 in 1995, before windows 95 cam on the market. Before that I used DOS with Desqview because that was stable and win 3.1 was not. Warp did all win 95 did and a lot better, so I never looked back and kept using and upgrading it. I do almost all my PC work and entertainment with eCS, except Skype, because it's not available. That I use on my Win 7 notebook.
One of the reasons I like eCS is that I am used to it and familiar with it. And system maintenance is much easier and faster than with windows computers. The huge amount of temporary files and directories in several locations on the win7 notebook keeps amazing me. No 'cleaning' program ever removes it all. Has to be partly done by hand.
For someone new to eCS I can recommend the use of FC/2, a Norton Commander style file browser. Makes it really easy to browse and manipulate files, directories and archives and will give you a good insight of what is on the disk, i.e. what the OS consists of. The learning curve wouldn't be very steep if you have hardware that is completely supported. Chances are, it is not... On the bright side, that will give you an excellent opportunity to learn a bit about the workins of the OS:-)

I have a pc with ide cd-rom and sata drives. It stops the boot the same way unless I switch ahci and ide (dani) driver order in the pre-boot menu storage settings.

Why not an option? What are the criteria?

Ati X300 or X850 work well with Snap. so do Matrox millennium cards but they are slower.

You should get a download link immediately after registering. Perhaps it ended up in your spam box?

On my desktop it boots to the desktop when I change the driver order to first load the dani, and then the AHCI driver. Applications won't start except for one of the games. Firefox icon grays for a while when I double click on it, then goes to normal, without ff being launched.

I noticed something strange. The weather wasn't correct, so I looked at the location and noticed I was suddenly in Rotterdam near Schenectady:-)
After using it with the City parm it was correct again and I'm back in the Netherlands, even when using without the parm...

Tried on my Samsung netbook, booting (from USB CD) stops with os2lvm.add loaded. Both with acpi and safe mode. AHCI driver loads and dani too. Any idea what to try?
