Here it detects the right location, can't seem to post the ini file as attachment .

Is that the announced "testing of a 'big' comupter magazine"?

- No WLAN support
No WLAN support? That's interesting. I've seen reports on the newsgroups from people using WLAN.....

- No bluetooth support
Indeed. Wonder how many users need it.

- No USB 3.0 support
No, and should be addressed.

- No ivP6 support
Not an issue for me, but that could be a showstopper for some, I think.

- No working suspense/resume support
Not true. It works on some hardware. So, limited support.

- still weak USB 2.0 support
Yes. But there has been a lot of progress.

- Panorama is faster than before but still...
.
- it is still better to use APM instead of ACPi on older (legay hardware),
especially on Thinkpads up to "60
So? APM was the de facto standard when that hardware was made.

- The new icon set of ecomstation.ru - hopefully this can be changed in the
usual way :-(
Just some cosmetics. I've never cared about that.

This might sound very negative but I think it is better to tell people what is
possible and what not.

The old story: why not writing:

"eComStation works well, but only on selected hardware".

Yes. And most people who buy it know that and select their hardware accordingly
 :-\

:-(

With regards to support, I have had direct support from Mensys, to full satisfaction. I do agree that the response to tickets isn't always what it should be.

I am still a -lot- happer with ecs then with the win 7 that runs on my notebook. Whenever I need the thing windows will either complain about 'low memory', needing a reboot to prevent the system become unstable or just be incredibly slow because it's doing yet another huge set of updates.

Nope. The order is still 'open' when I log in to my mensys account.

Setup & Installation / Re: eCS 2.2 YUM/RPM question
« on: January 30, 2013, 06:59:04 pm »
I already have rpm/yum on an alternate drive. When the new eCS comes out and I would install it on a second boot partition with rpm/yum in the same place as it is now I expect there might be problems because files would get overwritten and the database will get messed up. So I intend -not- to install rpm/yum but simply copy and paste the appropriate lines from the old config.sys to the new one.

I ordered it per invoice. As soon as I receive the download instructions I will give you a link to get it from me.

Applications / Re: Qpdf
« on: January 24, 2013, 06:38:58 pm »
If I try to open a pdf from another directory than that where qpdfview is installed it complains about popqt44.dll not found. So it seems to me that qpdfview doesn't look in it's own directory for its dlls. Is that correct and does it have to be placed in the path or at least do the dlls have to be moved to a directory in the path?

This will not remove anything the installer has put in the registry and files that aren't in the prgram directory.

I googled a bit and found that you need the installshield uninstaller. Copied IsUninst.exe from a win machine and ran it with pe isuninst.exe -f<"full path to the uninst.isu file"> Note, no space between the f parm and the text string

This program does install flawlessly with odin PE. But how does one uninstall it?

Setup & Installation / Re: Can't use Facebook and Twitter in Firefox
« on: January 17, 2013, 06:15:21 pm »
Try with Qupzilla instead of Firefox to see if that will work. I have a slight problem with Firefox and Facebook that doesn't show when using Qupzilla.

Are your bookmarks still there? In other words, does FF start up with the right profile? Is your profile not corrupted (do you have a backup of it)

All I can think of is that these don't point to the right directory:

SET MOZILLA_HOME=C:\HOME\DEFAULT
SET MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=C:\PROGRAMS\MOZ_PLUG

Hardware / Re: Connecting and transfering files to/from an HP 50g
« on: January 10, 2013, 02:47:02 pm »
If the HP uses fat16 or fat32 it might be possible. It might be necessary to use dfsee to format and partition the sd card.
What do you mean with 'did not figure how to configure and use USB ports...'?
On ecs2.1 the basic install should include all you need.
First download the latest USB port drivers and install them:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/h-search.php?sh=1&button=Search&key=usbhcd&stype=all&sort=type_name&dir=%2F
You can use usbcfg to configure, this will also show the numer of port drivers you will need.:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/h-search.php?sh=1&button=Search&key=usbcfg&stype=all&sort=type_name&dir=%2F
If it doesn't work, check with pcidock if the usb drivers have an irq. You might also try to switch the ports to or from legacy usb in the bios.

Sometimes I think mr. Levine can read and understand these error messages easier than I can my 10 year old sons schoolbooks:-)

Keep us posted on the developments. A working GTK will certainly make a lot of software ports possible!
