Also checking the hotels I can get the Quality Inn which is 0.4 miles away, and reduce from aprox $500 to $310.

How safe will be St. Louis to walk that at night?

I would seriously checkout that area before walking anywhere around there !

Martin on your sound looping problem, I am very interested in what REMming out:

RUN=x:\MMOS2\ QRYMMCD.EXE

does and if anyone that gets the hang of the WPS with only the mouse pointer showing does it go away.

Setup & Installation / Re: How to get ride of HPFS386
« on: August 24, 2014, 09:49:44 pm »
Since you said that you don't use HPFS

Zip -Srg9 x:\maintenance.zip m:\*

Format maintenance with JFS

CD  x:\OS2\INSTALL\BOOTDISK

SYSINSTX M:

Unzip x:\maintenance.zip

(I use maintenance as test system and regularly wipe it and unzip install it - takes less then 2 min.)

REM IFS=D:\OS2\HPFS.IFS /CACHE:2048 /CRECL:4 /AUTOCHECK:*

Also Ivan is correct they can't be switch without a reformat (386 => HPFS), so you may as well format it with JFS and get rid of HPFS completely(free up some memory).

And if for some reason you want to keep HPFS, 386 is way better why change it ?

I didn't moved the MMOS2 folder on this VM, but now the problem of the "Startup Audio" looping at the end for ever started to show up. I really don't know how to use MMFIX, but it seems it broke.

Try moving MMFIX around and higher in CONFIG.SYS.

Here's a thread on this issue, it took some time for the right placement for me but worked !

Wow,  something strange happend today to the VM I reorganized the directories.

...

So, I checked the config.sys and removed "folders" from autostart. On the next boot it broke.

WPS is considered a folder, so folders must be present in 'AutoStart'. It doesn't have anything to do with your re-organizing of directories. I learned the hard way on that a long time ago.

Hardware / Re: Webcam Support for OS/2 and eCS!!
« on: August 11, 2014, 07:35:20 am »
I have concluded :) the development and testing of my Webcam Support for OS/2 (and eComStation).  I have put it as WebSee10.zip and its source code as WebSee10s.zip both on my website and on hobbes. I have also put the latest version of my USB Resource Manager as usbres01.zip there.

I like to thank everyone involved.

Thank you Wim !

Logitech Webcam C270 works great here, I think it's a standard item at Walmart too ! On a new eCS 2.1 install using the different switches for a couple hours on each with no problems.

Started up the standard programs (most of them & used flash drive) installed with eCS 2.1 and Doodle's screen saver with no problems. Using VNC from my main box.

Oh, I tested the 640x480 only, SNAP with Radeon 850.

Hi Gregg,

I have 20 mp3s and all but one worked - eCS 2.1 ! Everything worked the same as the previous version.

One thing that would be great is adding the MP3 option back to the conversion menu. When you right click on a WAV file. Oh, any chance that libvpx could be added too, it was just uploaded to Hobbes.

Thanks for the work on lswitcher !

Well, if you know what to do, then I do completely misunderstand what's this thread for.

Because you didn't completely read anyone of my txt :) starting with I don't know what rsync and ssh does :)

I'm going to try and get Paul to port a better solution.

The Os/2 versions of Rsync and ssh don't work together !

Are you sure? Have you tried?

If that's true, that's stupid and should be fixed.

I'm the one that asked Paul for a different build and there's a 30+ message thread on it on the Yahoo group.

And even if they did data wouldn't be encrypted at the end point ? But there's not a good way to encrypt data and rsync it to a third party server on OS/2.

This would take care of everything:

The easiest way to transfer data with rsync securely is rsync over ssh, of course.

Ok, smarty pants !

Why rsync?

I have a OS/2 server with a overlay of eCS.

I use a hot key for popup and drag and drop files on a CMD file of rsync for a Dropbox on my server and my public folder.

And stunnel and rsync for backups. But there's not a good way to encrypt data and rsync it to a third party server on OS/2.  So, Im going to check out how many files change on an encrypted AES directory and rsync it. If you know of a better way, please tell.

I would like to add this to the OS/2 coummity - for offsite backups !
