I see the button on Firefox on ArcaOS. The only way I don't see it is if the user is not logged.  (picture attached)

Back to the PCMCIA issue, I still do not have a solid clue:

I see the devices report:
  Vendor 104Ch Texas Instruments
 Device 8036h PCI6515 Cardbus Controller

  Vendor 104Ch Texas Instruments
 Device 8038h PCI6515 SmartCard Controller

And the config.sys shows this:
 BASEDEV=PCMCIA.SYS /P
 BASEDEV=TI1225CB.SYS
 BASEDEV=AUTODRV2.SYS
 DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VPCMCIA.SYS
 DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\PCMSSDIF.SYS
 DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\PCM2SRAM.SYS
 DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\FLSH2MTD.SYS
 DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\PCM2FLSH.SYS
 BASEDEV=PCM2ATA.ADD /S:2 /!DM /NOBEEP
 ...
 BASEDEV=OS2PCARD.DMD

Do you have the PC Card Director tool there? Do you see any activity, beep or anything on the PCMCIA tools that a card is inserted when you plug one?

I did try running pccard director, it claimed my machine was a thinkpad of sorts but the installation failed. So not sure what to try next, its not terribly important was just something fun to work on.

another note, I am trying to cp some files of the arca system to a truenas, I can mount the drives ok I can change to drive create dirs ect.  however when I try to copy a folder from arca to the network storage it will copy the dir but not any of the contents I get

cp: cannot fstat `g:\os2\ftn\config\binkd.cfg`: permission denied

Not sure what is going on when I ls -la its root:root owns everything I should be able to copy those files

I no longer remember much about PCMCIA devices. I have some information on the wiki here: https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Socket_Chipsets_Matrix_PCMCIA

I guess it is required to know which PCIMCIA chipset does the Dell laptop has, and what PCMCIA card device do you want to use?

Can you run "testlog generic" and upload the log file to gave more context on how is your hardware and config.sys?

Here is the log file.  I tried to reply to this post on the arca machine with firefox, however the buttons to reply etc at the bottom of the message were not there? Is there a reason I would experience that?

Greetings,

I have arca running flawlessly on an old dell latitude d610 with one exception.  The pcmcia slot appears to not be loaded, I thought it was the old card I had that was bad, but arca reports no pcmcia slot.  How do I rectify this? Would be great to use usb card or a little faster network...

Hope everyone is well

Yes, that has a version of cxl for Borland Turbo C. Researching it seems the original author sold it to someone else who extended it. cxlos2.lib is a static lib and it being built for Borland is likely the reason that newer Watcom's aren't compatible.
Unluckily there is no pp386d.pch a precompiled header. There is a wpp386.pch which seems to have been built in my attempt to build it. It might be possible to find the header that was precompiled or reverse engineer it. Unluckily I'm not a Watcom expert.

Well I certainly appreciate your efforts thank you very much for trying...

Greetings,

I wonder if this one is any different, I will look around for the libraries... I found some called TCXL, and these https://github.com/steeve/ToneLocs, the ZIP attached includes a CXL folder might be the ones

So do you think its a no-go?  Ah well it would have been nice to use lora again on os/2 as that was my original setup on my BBS back in the early 90's..

Thanks for your efforts I surely do appreciate it

Greetings,

A few of us have been trying (very much amateur's) to compile this source code on arca for a BBS program.  I believe it is watcom C?
Anyone have some advice, direction? Or willing to give it a try if you have the experience? Ill attach the zip of the source..

Hope everyone is well

Greetings,

Getting further along in getting my Arca setup going... I am trying to get it to print.  I have the above mentioned HP printer on my network, Arca sees it, which was good but when I print to it, it prints one garbled line across the top of the page and that is it... Anyone point me where to trouble shoot?

Hope everyone is well and staying safe

Greetings All,

I hope everyone is well out there!  I cannot remember, can I start an application say like file commander from a 4os2 prompt from any dir by say typing "fc"?  I have that dir on my path statement in config.sys, I just do not recall if that is possible under os2 or arca?

Regards,

Rick

Personally, I use File Commander for things like a cmd line text editor, file manager etc. Shareware but no nags etc, http://silk.apana.org.au/fc.html

Thank you, this is just like midnight commander which I am familiar.....!

Greetings,

I have followed all of these tips on a thinkpad t430s with 1080 screen.  I have it mostly working, however once in DOS session I can get BBS started but for some reason if I do a simple "dir" command it closes DOS completely

Any thoughts

Regards,

Rick
