Applications / Re: Test build of dooble with qt5
« on: May 01, 2022, 06:00:17 pm »
Hi,
l thank those working on Dooble, for me this is a great step forward!!

I have a x61 here with only ArcaOs installed (5.0.1), 3GB. On this machine Dooble runs well, not fast but very stable, until now. I could open any page I tried
@Remy : I can open your hompage right away and everything works, I can even look at the video concerning Warpstock and AvxCat.
The only Issue until now is setting a homepage to be opened when startting the browser.
I set this page as Homepage : https://lite.qwant.com/
The browser starts and seems to load the page but the page stays empty. Typing the address manually the browser loads the page with no obvious problem. No big issue anyway.

I have a second machine here, a X200, same installation. It has 8 GB installed, 3 GB recognized by ArcaOS. On this machine the browser starts but actually immedeately crashes when opening the most pages. I can load Os2world but as soon as I try to f.e. open a thread in the forum the browser crashes. Still working on this, I do believe it is rather a problem concerning QT5 on this machine, have to keep trying.

Hi Holger,
Are you able to send me the output of 'testlog uniaud' ? I'm curious what hardware you have. There were a LOT of changes in the most recent uniaud updates in AN, I'm not terribly surprised suspend/resume doesn't work. There were a lot of power related api's added in newer linux kernels, many of them I stubbed just to get things building.

@DaveYeo are you able to do the same on your T42? I'm assuming the T42 may still be AC97 hardware whereas the x61 will be HDA..

Hi Paul,
which address should I send the log to?

Regards
Holger

Hi Dave,

I have a x61 here, which caused a lot of problems in the last months. But right now I have a completely new installation of AN (the second released version). I run this with acpi 3.23.04 because this version allows suspend and resume to work, all newer versions do not, all newer versions of AN neither off course. The strange thing is that when I use the original uniaud supplied with AN I can suspend and resume and sound works after resume. With the new builds sound is much better, I even do not need any unimix line in config.sys to have sound enabled, but after resume sound no longer works, neither when clicking a file or for example with PM123.Not a big deal, I just wondered if someone else has the same problems.

Regards
Holger

Hi Dave,

does sound still work after suspend and resume? Can you play for example *.wav files after resume?

Hi there,
has anyone tried the latest uniaud32 builds (either Paul's or the one from AN) on a Laptop where suspend and resume works?

Setup & Installation / Re: OS2 Command Prompt Window

Yes, I am afraid this is a hardware problem, but right now I have no clue what could cause the problems. Any idea what could help to find the reason?

Setup & Installation / OS2 Command Prompt Window
« on: February 21, 2021, 02:42:05 pm »
Hi there,
since a few days I observed a very strange behaviour of the os2 command promt window. When I
for exmple open a command prompt window and type dir the command is executed but the progress is very slow? Opening a fullscreen command propt and then typing dir the command is executed and finished in a second.
I have the latest ArcaOS installed and the only thing I recently changed was to change from 2GB Ram to 4 GB Ram on this machine (X61)

Any Idea?

Hi there and thank yor for the information. Processed payment right now.

Go to: http://pmmail.os2voice.org/index.php?title=PMMail_for_OS/2

You can download the program, and try it. There is a newer version at; ftp://pmdevpub@ftp.os2voice.org/. but it is still time limited (120 days). Pick the newer one.

I am interested in taking a look at the newer version, but when trying to download username and password are needed?

Hi there,
this seems to be a very simple question. Where and how can I buy a license for PMMail?

Cheers

Hi Andi, glad it helped. Just corrected my first posting concerning leechmp3 and pm123. I made the same mistake when typing. The port is allways 8880

Applications / Freedb shut down

Hi there, I just wanted to share some information. Maybe old fashioned but I keep buying music on CDs. Occasionally I copy tracks or complete Cds to my harddrive, mainly using either RSJ -CD View (part of RSJ CD Writer) and AVxCat (great!!). Both programs used to query track titles from freedb.org which was shut down in June. There is an alternative which is gnudb.org. I have attached a picture showing my settings for RSJ  CD View. perhaps it may be helpful for others. I even tried leech.mp3 which I ususally do not use. Setting gnudb.gnudb.org 8880 in the config file for leechmp3 works. I then checked PM123 (player). One can configure the CDDA Play plugin by adding the server cddbp://gnudb.gnudb.org:8880. So when inserting a CD and using PM123 to play the CD the  CD and the titles are queried from gnudb.org .
I am still struggling with AvxCat. There is no setting where one could define the server to use, so I suppose remy ( the author) either uses a dll or there is a script that has to be adjusted

Greetings
Holger
