Setup & Installation / Re: Help ! How to: Installing MPlayer/2 !
« on: July 12, 2014, 09:17:44 am »
Looking good. One thing I notice missing is any reference to fonts, how to specify which font to use.

...

Added the subtitle section.

http://www.os2notes.com/os2mplayer2.html

And is at final rough draft thank goodness, took a lot longer then I thought it would. Any last minute suggestions or questions answered ?

I recommend using the install script, it sets everything up nicely ! Including associations.

Upadated Media Pack & Drag & Drop Install script for Mplayer/2 !

Updated to v.008 - http://www.os2notes.com/os2mplayer.html

Backup up the .mplayer directory in the home directory

Need help improving this please !

Media Pack started as a Rexx install script for mPlayer.

1) now it has the ablity to install mPlayer/2 by Drag & Drop.
2) the ability to install the MP3 codec
3) remove the old MMAVI class has also been added to the script.
4) becomes the default media player after the old MMAVI class is removed
5) DVD playback, many issues though, especially with menu enabled
6) associated the most popular vid codecs

With the MMAVI class gone Mplayer becomes the default player for AVI files, no more right clicks just to play.

Cheers

No, just those two, though if I unimix -names list I get the attached list:

That's strange my install script nor the guide changes anything. Do you get sound from playing PM123 or any other vid/music player ? If not then the driver is misconfigured.

If you do get sound from PM123 or other vid player then:

1) use the latest mplayer, earlier versions use different config options
2) make sure the 'config' file is in the \home\default\.mplayer\ directory
3) change ao=kai:dart  to  ao=kai:UNIAUD  or remove it

And that's about it, but it sounds like your driver, I have a dual-core /w ACPI with no problems :(

4) try the latest UNIAUD driver: download

Or use my install script - http://www.os2notes.com/os2mplayer.html

Hi Greggory,

Thought I would give this a try on my 4 core box - everything is OK except no sound output.

On checking, unimix does not show anything other than line playback and mic volume, yet systems sounds work.  Any ideas?

There's no 'Master Playback Volume or CD playback options' ?

Thanks Gregg. The article looks great.

My observations / doubts are:

1) On point "2.2 Install Codecs". Are the codecs on the same mplayer installation files, or do I have to download them somewhere else.

Thanks Martin, and codecs are separate, see 1.2 for the link to download them.

Quote
2) 1.5. I think it will be a good idea to upload "http://www.os2site.com/sw/mmedia/video/regionset.zip" also to hobbes, since not everyone has OS2site userID and password to download files.

I agree let Hobbes decide.

3) 1.8. The testcase UNIAUD32 is no longer here: http://www.ecomstation.co.kr/komh/testcase/uniaud32_test.zip

I'll have email him and see if current UNIAUD is Ok

Quote
4) Maybe you can add some screenshots, I like them ?  :)

Sure, but it's VIO

Quote
5) On 1.9 References, you can always add the URL of the original project: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html

I'll add it, I have completed the list I used.

I haven't use MPlayer, so I think it is great article.

Martin here's the easy version for using MPlayer, it's based on my FirefireDD install script !

http://www.os2notes.com/os2mplayer.html

Tip: Remove the old unless AVI codec, it was driving me crazy, having to right clicking then select mPlayer just to play. So after removing the old codec MPlayer becomes the default player !

Looking good. One thing I notice missing is any reference to fonts, how to specify which font to use. Not sure whether komh's build of MPlayer supports truetype fonts and whether it depends on mzfntcfgft. If nothing else there should be a reference to bitmapped fonts. See http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/fonts-osd.html

Thanks Dave ! Totally forgot about that, I'll add it in, yes to TT fonts:) I was fighting with that when playing DVDs. Trying to turn them off without success ?

I need help proofing an article for Os2world.com - Howto: Installing MPlayer/2

http://www.os2notes.com/os2mplayer2.html

1) Any additions needed.
2) Grammar and spelling.
3) Don't report any formatting errors, will fix last.
4) Does the Set statement for the codec dir needed anymore ?
5) Add to the Frequently_Asked_Questions sections
6) Add to the Tips sections

And FINALLY someone to add it to the Wiki for Martin, it's really a lot of work - a little help is wonderful sometimes !

Cheers

It would be nice when other users with the same issues on their systems can report it here or directly to the development team.

Could post a link to the latest releases ?

Programming / Re: 3in1 Drag&Drop Mozilla install script !
« on: June 23, 2014, 07:49:47 pm »
I should have noticed the lack of quotes  :)
Couple of observations. I used the advanced install option and chose f:\mozilla\firefox for destination, Firefox actually was installed in f:\mozilla\firefox\firefox. It needs to be clearer that it is asking for the parent or changed so that the user chooses the final install directory.
It would be nice if there was also an icon for safe mode as well,  firefox.exe -safe-mode. Same for TB and SM.
When using run!, K can be a waste of memory and perhaps a choice,  L should perhaps be there by default as the idea of using run! is to allow multiple browsers, email clients etc to co-exist without causing SYS2070's. I also like G to log everything.
I haven't tested SeaMonkey, hopefully you have an icon for mail and/or news.
Thanks for the work.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll get to work on that. I pretty much just started on Rexx, so bare that in mind ;) looking up every command for an example, Gerrr

Thanks,

Greggory

Hi Greggory, just tested your script. I keep my Mozilla executables in f:\mozilla so I unzipped the package to f:\mozilla\FirefoxDD-017b, ran the install cmd, edited the script so MozDir = f:\mozilla and dragged the file firefox-17.0.11esr.en-US.os2.zip and dropped it on the FirefoxDD Drag&drop icon. All I get is a quick flicker of the command window and nothing seems to be installed. What am I missing?

I did the same thing, but forgot to correct the comment - add single quotes around the path, sorry !

MozDir = 'f:\mozilla'

And it's at version 024b uploaded now use that one: http://os2notes.net/files/firefoxdd/

I noticed the last prompt says it installing to a different directory 'c:\programs' still - fixed that.  It will install to MozDir = 'f:\mozilla' any ways.

REMEMBER it makes a backup and deletes the original directory. So, MozDir = f:\mozilla\firefox is altered! just in case you added something non-standard to that directory.

Applications / Re: Firefox 17.0.11 won't start
« on: June 21, 2014, 11:51:58 pm »
The requirements are,   gcc473.dll, mmap.dll, pthr01.dll, stdcpp6.dll, libc065.dll and the mzfntcfgft package.
Most of these are available at Hobbes, in particular for the newer DLLs, http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/apps/internet/www/browser/moz_required_dlls_v1.zip.

Maybe some Rexx guru can send me some tips or additions to my drag and drop install script here:

Any help  ?
