For the past several days, I have been getting redirected to a page with this error whenever I log on to OS2World.

Logon itself succeeds. I can hit Back or select the Home page link and continue from there.

Applications / Time sync in VirtualBox guest off by 1 hour

I'm setting up an OS/2 (ArcaOS 5.0.6) guest in VirtualBox 6.1.22 running on Windows 10. 

I've installed the OS/2 Guest Additions, which (among other things) keeps the guest time synced to the host. Except... it insists on setting the guest's time to 1 hour behind the correct time. I assume that it's failing to take DST into account.

My guest TZ value is:

TZ=EST5EDT,3,2,0,7200,11,1,0,7200,3600

which is correct, and works fine for native OS/2 time sync programs like DAYTIME.

My host (Win) is set to the UTC-5 (Eastern US & Canada) zone with daylight saving time enabled. It does show the correct time (which is one hour ahead of what the guest shows).

Has anyone seen this before, and have any ideas how to fix it? This is a real problem. I've temporarily had to disable Additions entirely but that's obviously a terrible workaround.

Applications / SeaMonkey 2.42.9 CPU spiking

Since Google Drive and DropBox have both ceased to function properly with SM 2.35, I've had to bite the bullet and upgrade to 2.49.9.  (I'd previously tried several times and given up due to the extreme frequency of hangs.)  I created a new profile and migrated my important data.

Now, I've tried all three of Dave's builds (o2, o3, and o3s) and all of them exhibit the following behaviour (both with my migrated profile and with a completely new, blank profile).  As long as SeaMonkey is running, the CPU spikes to 100% every 14 seconds, for about 3 seconds each time.  During these spikes, the system briefly becomes unresponsive (keyboard input blocks, etc.).  This occurs even if SM has nothing at all open but a blank tab.  SM doesn't even have to be in focus; in fact, it's more annoying when I'm in another application trying to type or do something, and the system keeps going unresponsive every 14 seconds.

Obviously this is untenable. Does anyone else see this phenomenon, and does anyone have a suggested solution?

Applications / Installing IBM Pen for OS/2?

I've downloaded the "Pen for OS/2" package (v4penos2_2.zip on Hobbes) and am trying to install it on my X60t.

However, every time I try to run PINSTALL.EXE I get this error popup stating that Pen is already running.  (It isn't.)  Selecting OK causes nothing else to happen, and I can't install it.

Does anyone know of a solution?

Networking / Using rsync-to-rsync between two OS/2 systems

I'm trying to mirror a directory between two OS/2 systems using rsync.

I run 'rsync --daemon' on one system and then try to use rsync from the other, using a command for instance like 'rsync -ahnuvzX --progress . rsync://192.168.0.4/kmd'.

However, no matter what options I use, I always get this error:
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [Receiver]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(605) [Receiver=3.0.9]

(I've also tried specifying the remote address as '192.168.0.4::kmd' which makes no difference.)

The rsyncd.log on the side running the daemon shows this:

2014/01/04 15:26:19 [209] rsync error: syntax or usage error (code 1) at clientserver.c(957) [Receiver=3.0.9]

The file rsyncd.conf is located in %ETC% (which the daemon requires in order to run without complaint) and I've also put a copy in /etc just in case. So I suspect the configuration file error is spurious. Here's the contents of the file, though:

path = w:/kmd

Can anyone help?

Hardware / ThinkPad X60 tablet pen & multi-touch support?

I recently picked up an X60t (pen+multitouch model) because I need a highly portable system for carrying around campus.

I've installed eCS 2.2 beta - so far so good, for the most part - all the usual basic devices work (although I had to change the video to Panorama as I got constant hangs with SNAP).

Now I'm looking at getting the touchscreen working. I downloaded Wim Brul's PENTOOLS02.ZIP and have been going through the instructions. However, I'm kind of stuck. I managed to compile and run ACPITREE.EXE for current ACPI. However, the output doesn't show any IRQ value, so I'm not sure what to specify when loading PSCOM.SYS.

I tried the (1,200,4,I) value suggested for the X61.  However, when I run COMRAW.CMD with that set, and try a few stylus actions, I just get a 0-byte 19200.RAW file.

Any ideas?
