I'm in the process of building a new ArcaOS Laptop (T540p) and starting to load up my old applications. I've installed PmPatrol, but it fails to start. A quick CHKDLL32 shows that DOSCALL1.DLL can not be loaded because orginal 154 (DosQProcStatus) could not be resolved.
Any ideas on how to get around this? Is it ticket time with Arca Noae?
Thanks

There's one I haven't seen in a while. Downloaded http://web.archive.org/web/19970215092459/http://www.musthave.com:80/OS2/ftp/pmp43.zip (http://web.archive.org/web/19970215092459/http://www.musthave.com:80/OS2/ftp/pmp43.zip) installed and it is running fine on ArcaOS.

Thats the version I'm running. Looking at the contents of the .zip all the dates/sizes match up. I should mention that my ArcaOs is V5.0.3.
My DosCall1.Dll is 132401, 11-24-2011.
This is on a fresh install of ArcaOs V5.0.3
Cheers,

Downloaded http://web.archive.org/web/19970215092459/http://www.musthave.com:80/OS2/ftp/pmp43.zip installed and it is running fine on ArcaOS.
I got that, and installed it on my Asus M3A78-EM quad core, in ArcaOS 5.0.3.1. I did not re-boot, I just started it, and a few seconds later, it froze the machine. The mouse won't even move.
I forced a reboot, and started it again. So far, no hang (and no DOSCALL1 problems), but it placed a lot of garbage over top of the bottom XCenter (and I do mean GARBAGE, the information is mostly useless). The XCenter widgets are far more informative, and take up a lot less room. I did not try to configure it, assuming that the most useful information would be default. There is probably some setting, that you are using, that is no longer compatible with OS/2.
I don't think the problem lies with ArcaOS. It is more likely that PM Patrol is just too old. I would be amazed if software that old, doing what it does, would not have problems (it is dated July 1996, after all). There have been a LOT of changes since it was written, and some parts may no longer be compatible with newer stuff in ArcaOS. ACPI, AHCI, and the modified kernel, would seem to be the most likely to be incompatible. None of them existed (in the current form), in 1996. I am also not so sure that CHKDLL32 is current enough to handle the job. PMDLL.EXE is included with ArcaOS, give that a try, and see if it tells you the same thing.

It is not DOSCALL1.DLL that contains the implementation of "DosQProcStatus" but rather it is DOSCALLS (which is a "pseudo" DLL name for all the routines that are directly implemented in the kernel OSKRNL, you won't find a file DOSCALLS.DLL on your hard disk), look here:
http://www.edm2.com/index.php/DOSCALLS.DLL
If you get an error that ordinal 154 (DosQProcStatus, also named Dos16QProcStatus because it is a 16-bit routine) cannot be loaded then you have some severe problem. It could mean that the application is expecting a much older kernel version or DOSCALL1.DLL version of what AN comes with.
Over the decades, IBM has "shifted around" a few API routines and additionally, there exist different versions of DOSCALL1.DLL for SMP kernels that are in use today and for the old W4 (single core) kernel.
It would be interesting to know what "bldlevel.exe" reports for OS2KRNL for the OP in comparison to the OS2KRNL version that Dave uses.

Hi Erick.
Just in case, I also just downloaded the file (from the link posted here) and run it on ArcaOS 5.0.3 and I think it is working. (Check screenshot).
Regards
Update: I run it on a VM (Virtuabox) that is running the UNI kernel.
-
It runs for me as well on Arca 5.03.
-
Are the folks that report it working, executing the SMP or the UNI Kernal?
I installed the program into a VM that is running the UNI Kernal and it works fine. It seems to be something related to the DOSCALL1.DLL installed with the SMP Kernal for me.
I'm going to try a fresh install and see what happens.
-
SMP kernel here.
-
SMP (patched for ArcaOS) here too. You may be using some feature that isn't being used by default, and I am not about to try every feature of PM Patrol.
-
SMP here as well.
-
I also have no problems in smp 503. This application makes use of sound every so often, check that you have updated the uniaud20181126.exe is after the version of Arcaos503

I just installed the app. It runs fine here, I am using eCS 2.2 beta with 8-core AMD CPU, SMP kernel 14.106.
No crashes or such, I tried all features. Just the network monitor never shows any activity :-)
The app seems to be ok. There must be something else going wrong.

Ok, I figured out what happened. When I added my Personal Tools set to the LibPath, I made a typo It had .F:\Tools\Dll; instead of .;F:\Tools\Dll;
For what ever reason that caused the problems with PmPatrol.
Thanks to all for the assistance and sorry for the wild goose chase.
Cheers,
