Title: AVxCAT 2.1.1.2
Post by: Remy on June 17, 2024, 11:39:51 pm
How to update AVxCAT 2.1.1.0 ?
1/ Have network up
2/ Start AVxCAT -> if available update is found, you'll get an information red message
3/ Menu -> Help -> Get update
Update can be a ZIP file needing a manual copy/replace provided files
Update can be a wpi file in which case, just follow installation

Note: Updated to 2.1.1.2 Fixpack 1
- Corrected: unexpected drdialog box at close time via Get update  (general close modified)

Note: if AVxCAT won't start after update (e.g. corrupted ini or required customization wasn't done as expected), try delete AVXCAT.INI file and redo customization

Hello Remy

It is nice to see that AVxCAT has an "update feature" on it.

I tried to check it today but the "Menu -> Help -> Get update" does not show.
Is version 2.1.1.0 GA3 [FP3] the latest?

Regards

Hi Martin !

AVxCAT 2.1.x.x will get all updates for V2.1.x
While AVxCAT 2.0.x only gets updates for V2.0.x

Is the network up (with or without proxy ?)
If the "Network up ?" option under parameters is enabled ?  then the network is supposed down, click on it to enabled internal network status

Getting updates from under help menu and with the MD5 tool under AVxCAT, the downloaded update is auto checked for correct MD5.
Out of AVxCAT, here is the link to get the latest update (I had to upgrade to FP2)
* Only usable on V2.1..x *
To find current V2.1..x updates, you can have a look here:
https://remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/updates/avxcat21.updt
https://remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/downloads/ (add filename as given into avxcat21.updt)

My problem with the latest release is that it is asking for a Dll package that is not avaible right now. Or so it seems.

My problem with the latest release is that it is asking for a Dll package that is not avaible right now. Or so it seems.

No more needed Dll's as before (rxu been replace - left compatibility - since several releases by rxutilex, mutch better)

Which dll are you looking for ?
If I'm right, you are under OS/2 or eCs but not under ArcaOS ?
(You'll have to download the rxutilex dll

All dll's are available (rexx dll's + bitmap dll)
Other dll's are additionnal programs required dlls but you should  find all links into the pdf doc or under my web site

Remy,
I am running Arca OS 5.1.

Ok, You have needed rexx dlls to start AVxCAT (the rxutilex is base installed on ArcaOs)
Just add needed additional packages with they prereq if not done yet.
note: 2 hobbesarchive link (ogg & id3v2) where incorrect under my EN web page (ok under FR web page). I updated the page.

Can you provide more information about the issue you have please ?
Or write me using the email link (from AVxCAT or using the given link into the pdf.
I always help to resolve issues found or give attention to any suggestion

Please read my "Note" in the initial message of this thread too.

Hi,

Due to some personnal need and may be very usefull to create video using presentation charts and overlay into a corner a speaker video providing
explanation and description of the presentation.

I extended the overlay option which is picture into video to video into picture (same sources but inverted order) and preserved the possibility to resize the video as well resulting video opacity too.

I renamed the Ulogo checkbox to U_pic checkbox and added a checkbox V.in -to use video into picture instead of default picture into video

note: remove (having the webcam as overlay to an image in live streaming generates a too long command not supported by rexx)
**** FOUND how to resolve when using webcam stream to overwrite image - WEB cam input for this overwrite option will be included

I can provide a pre-build of AVxCAT 2.2  (I hope have it finalized before end of year)
regards

Hi all,
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025

I decided to make AVxCAT V2.2 available as downloadable update via AVxCAT V2.1
Read the included text file and save existing AVxCAT as backup before replacing it with new V2.2
Included is an updated AVxCAT pdf file, a presentation of some improvements...

The update has an included prereqs executable file to check the system for missing tools and providing link list + download packages
(the auto install not yet enabled under the alpha4 buil of prereqs.exe)

AVxCAT V2.2 WPI package will be available later (n several more weeks and may be after prereqs more feedback/testing).

The program write to author been updated, I hope getting more feedbacks and/or suggestion from those using AVxCAT.
Thanks and best regards
Rémy

Note: In case of update link of AVxCAT V2.1 not enabled yet ! please, inform me here

Hi Martin,
I just did a test starting from 2.1.1.0 and was ok for me.
2.1.1.0 does 2 verifications (exe file date and version number)
- Run one time parameters and save. Then restart AVxCAT
- Was the network up and operationnal when trying to get the update ?
- What about AVxCAT.exe creation date after install ?

To get the update manually:
https://remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/downloads/[add the update filename]
Filename: AVXCAT_Y25M2R2.zip  (case sensitive)

Hello Remy.

I' now on version 2.2.0.0 with your indications of downloading the file and unzipping it on the 2.1.1.0 installation.
It seems to be working.

Checking the AVXCAT 2.2.pdf file, it says it works with - http://silk.apana.org.au/vorbis/oggvorbis-1.2.0-os2.zip
Will it work fine with https://hobbesarchive.com/Home/Download?path=/Hobbes/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/sound/convert/OggVorbis_1-3-3.wpi
Do you think it will be fine to update to it?

Hi Martin,

PDF typo (should be 1.3.3 now - older version may work too  ::)) Thanks having seen this
I'm going to update it to prevent regression.

Could you give a test on prereqs exe ? check found missings tools/dlls and save results into files (from the menu) and look at them for provided links?
note: If no ogg installed, it will provide v1.3.3 link

Hello Martin,

I made a WPI including an updated alpha prereqs tools (for missing packages links list/get missing pakages)

You can add this link for the WPI full install (add the missing " : " into the link name)
https//remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/downloads/AVXCAT_S-2_2_0_0.wpi

For only latest updates, check for filename and its MD5 checksum >  https//remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/updates/avxcat21.updt

note1: update files are under the same path as WPI's
note2: for zip files uncluding @unixroot as first directory level, creating a @unixroot symlink makes the unzip easy.
e.g. on the unixroot drive, a few usefull commands
            ln -s . @unixroot'    /* ln cmd to create symlink */
unzip zip_file.zip    /* file will be unzipped ignoring @unixroot */
            rm @unixroot       /* remove symlink */

I didn't update my webpage yet and I will done in a few weeks (working more on prereqs)

Hi!

Minor updates on AVxCAT v2.x which is now v2.2.2.0 FP1
(more compatible with a rpm installer)
- for those having python installed (AOS), MD5 no more needed
- added a python hash option under internal filemanager  (add ;*.* at end of the fm filter list to show all files)
  (MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384, SHA512)

update available through AVxCAT update option else use the provided update information link from within this post.

( June 18, 2024, 08:52:53 pm )
https://remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/updates/avxcat21.updt   (update filename included)
The update file is under downloads dir using my web link.

note: next update should more change the prereqs installer on which I'm currently working on

Information:

After avxcat following the update get + installation (an avxcat.exe replace), a py script is created for those having python installed named: avxcath.py
The script is writtent to work with python 2.7 which is base installed under AOS v5

You can use it as follow:
[..:\]python avxcath.py x filename
     x a number between 0 and 4  (0 for MD5, 1 for SHA1, 2 for SHA256, 3 for SHA384 and 4 for SHA512)
filename can be full pathname and for special cases, can be put between " e.g.  "file name"

The result is displaied like MD5 does it (but for md5 only)

e.g. python avxcath.py 2 avxcat.exe
       SHA256 (avxcat.exe) = 88beadd53d76336038fa2fa1fa5540b5967fdbb67ae156989d4c46424b600797

e.g. for MD5 result
       python avxcath.py 0 avxcat.exe
       MD5 (avxcat.exe) = ba1247ba2380aad807da9431cb2cae92

replace C:\var\temp with you temp path or remove C:\var\temp\ to have the file into current path used to issue curl cmd.

The firs cmd is very important and should get correct value.

Ok, thanks.

Your network is not seen to be up by AVxCAT.
1 message is missing into the extra log:
avxcat: external network responded to a single 10 bytes ping packet (available)

I'm going to add a message in case the network is not seen to be up instead not issuing a message.

I assume that the "network up?" entry under parameters menu is enabled which means that the network is seen to be down
Try to clic on network up? from parameters menu to check network status.
Are you able to ping my web site ?

Updt (found a bug when cdda2wav is disabled):
Please enable cdda2wav option under avxcat parameters and have cdda2wav.exe installed and give a new try.

AVxCAT 2.2.2.0 fp2 update online including the network fix (if cdda2wav not set) + a few more messages and set threads to 1 when "add pic" is set during audio conversion with coverart due auto or more than one thread puts ffmpeg into a hang state (without "add pic", auto is ok)

note: included an updated alpha build of the prereqs "with drdialog opened" in case of failure (when clic on get/install, only get files but the install is not fully operational. Of course, you will have packages downloaded and using the command from under yum log, you can run the yum install process for yum missing packages.

Hi!

Major update on the prereqs tool now initial beta.

# Prereqs installer

V0.1 beta build
    - Enabled install process
    - Zip file can include @unixroot type entries or normal entries or wpi file !
    - Zip including @unixroot entries will be put under the corresponding unixroot path @unixroot\usr\... if unixroot if found and enabled
or under @unixroot\usr\local\... if local unixroot is set on and used
note: if local unixroot doesn't exist and you set it under prereqs, installation will be done under @unixroot\usr\local...
but currently, you HAVE to manually update you config.sys by adding @unixroot\usr\local\bin and \dll paths
    - Normal zip file needs destination path. By default config.sys programs default path is proposed and may be changed via the prompt
    - Zip including a WPI file will be unzipped and wpi executed
    - wpi files should run opening warpin
    - exe (wpi executable) are run
    - rpm packages not tested yet due mostly installed through yum packages
    - yum generated list can be run and installed at end of other installed files during the same process or though yum log menu entry
    - bubble shows useful info to well use prereqs

Note: once Prereqs has installed all missing AVxCAT needed packages, AVxCAT first time run (or with no saved parameters) should find most important packages

https:  [remove this]  //remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/downloads/prereqs_01b.zip

Hi Remy,

I tried your prereqs installer... here is what I did and some observations:

Installed AVxCAT 2.2.2.0 (over 2.1.1.2), got FP2 and copied, then ran the prereqs installer. It said I did not have ID3V2, Timidity, Ogginfo, and Leech. I did already have timidity, but the path was wrong on the parameters page, so changed to the correct path (C:\Programs\timidity). I choose to download and not install, ran it and everything downloaded (plus some other stuff). Installed all in the locations suggested by the structure of the downloaded zip files (\usr\local\bin and \usr\local\lib were already on my path) and ran the Leech WPI. Then re-ran the prereqs installer and this time it said I did not have ID3V2 and Ogginfo, but again the paths were wrong on the parameters page. Changed the paths and now everything is recognized under AVxCAT parameters, except priority.exe was colored yellow (why yellow?). Manually looked for priority.exe on my system and it was missing, so installed FM2UTILS from WPI. Now priority.exe is white on the parameters page. Re-ran the prereqs installer and now it said I did not have priority.exe (but do and it is recognized on the parameters page). Tried again and it still shows priority.exe is missing.

Now it seems everything needed is set up so I started trying things. Noticed under 'View' on the toolbar, you can open a log window at the bottom and see what is going on under the hood. At the beginning it shows loading and testing various components. There were 2 it did not find: 'rxtnsion not loaded' and 'Voix not found'. I went to Hobbes and found Voix and installed, but could not find any 'rxtnsion'. At least now it finds Voix.

Thanks for creating AVxCAT! It is amazingly comprehensive and so somewhat complex - will spend some more time trying it out.

Regards,

EDIT: The problem with priority.exe is that I did not reboot after installing FM2UTILS. Apparently, it adds the path to FM2UTILS to PATH and AVxCAT uses that to find priority.exe.

Hi David,

Thanks for you helpful comments.
AVxCAT V2.2.2.0 FP2 update if planned to be installed over AVxCAT V2.2.0.0 FP2 WPI
AVxCAT V2.1.1.2 get upate not enabled to get V2.2.2.0 FP2 (I'm going to enable update to V2.2.0.0 wpi)

AVxCAT base WPI package includes some missing dlls you are looking for.

Priority is yellow because no more a requirement if under AOS and the color is a warning not red.
When priority.exe is missing I use default available codding

If you have installed dlls from under AVXCAT v2.2.0.0 WPI (you should have rxtnsion...) and you may missing some other elements, pdf due V2.2.0.0. is a main update.
Of course, you can run V2.2.0.0. FP2 WPI over current installation and then replace AVxCAT and Prereqs  from those into AVxCAT v2.2.2.0 FP2 (that's all) to get latest update.

About incorrect path under AVxCAT, this is because the paths already set are saved into the ini file.
To check if all is found, you can rename the avxcat.ini file and start AVxCAT (a message will tell you to do setting), go into parameters and check found paths (it should be ok). To use your initial setting, copy back your original avxcat.ini file.

By default, AVxCAT doesn't use icon view, I suggest you to give a try which simplifies usage (for some specific or customised conversion settings, go back to normal view).

Starting from a fresh installation before any AVxCAT setting, all additional tools path should be found and juts 'save parameters' after verification, I'll suggest to set cdda2wav, web and tracks naming convention + set to use priority with suggested parameters which will be helpful for some king of conversion.
About priority, prereqs.exe should find it if missing (but you can ignore it under AOS if you prefer and AVxCAT will use other priority codding)

With the latest prereqs.exe 1.0 beta (only starting from this one), all install steps are done by prereqs.exe if you choice install instead of download only. The packages are identical and what prereqs does during the install:
- it goes through each downloaded packages
  - If zip -> it checks archived first level name and if @unixroot found (which means you already set an @unixroot under config.sys found during pre-scan by prereqs) symlink is used and @unixroot replaced with the found @unixroot drive letter. If local if found under @unixroot and/or user set, packages will have local as destination (if local is not part of paths and libpaths under the config.sys, it should be added manually yet)

To use simlink for manually install packages: create a simlink (ln.exe), unzip package, remove (rm) the created simlink

  - If zip but a wpi is included (e.g. timidity); prereqs unzip the archive and run the warpin
  - If the package is an exe file (supposed warpin executable). It is run
  - If the package is a wpi then warpin is run
  - For missing rpm packages available through yum (AOS), yum install can be run for all missing packages or it can be run later, the command line is been saved into the yum log file (or prereqs yum log entry)

Regards

Next upgrade is expected to update config.sys if 'local' doesn't exist and is user set under prereqs and I'm looking (may be later...) to make prereqs usable for other programs needing many additional tools (using external customized file to identify packages and links)

After run AVxCAT V2.2.2.0 FP2, you'll find a created avxcath.py (a basic python2 script usable to check hash code of files) used to check MD5 when downloading future updates though AVxCAT.
e.g. python if base python under AOS or python2.7 avxcath.py 0 file2test   (0 = MD5, 1 = SHA1, 2 = SHA256, 3 = SHA384, 4 = SHA512)

Remy,

Thanks for the detailed reply! I now see the rxtnsion.dll in the \AVxCAT\DLLs directory and also Voix.exe in the main \AVxCAT directory. Don't know why the log window said they were not found. I'll also try some of your other suggestions...

Regards,

I am receiving:
"Downloaded file has incorrect MD5 checksumm, try again or get update from author site

I see a reference to python doing the MD5 checksum, in case there is something about my python setup:

Hi andy, interesting !
Of course, I only use python 2
python2.7 seems to be seens having 7 as extension instead of exe  (using python2.7.exe as it should)...
(I've added more association in the past and may be this is the raison I missed this problem)
I'm going to update my code to use python2.7.exe instead of simplified python2.7
Thanks having seens this.

After getting this error, check your temp path, you should find the downloaded zip file and you can manually issue
python2.7.exe avxcath.py 0 AVxCAT_updt.zip      (avxcath.py is located under avxcat path, created at first avxcat using python run)
and check with the md5 from into
https://remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/updates/avxcat21.updt

(or use md5.exe)

Carrefully:
As alternate option, try renaming python2.7.exe to python.exe (after saving original python.exe) under \usr\bin
And restore as it was after update

Updt (corrections done):
AVxCAT v2.2.2.0 FP4 (included prereqs.exe 1.1beta) online

Updt: If you already have AVxCAT 2.2.2.0 FP4 with prereqs beta 1.1, you can download again avxcat 2.2.2.0 FP4  (with prereqs beta 1.2) using following command
Code: [Select]
curl --max-time 600  -z 12-Aug-2025 https://remydodin.levillage.org/doc/realisations/downloads/AVXCAT_Y25R2M2.zip --output "C:\var\temp\AVxCAT_updt.zip
note: change C:\var\temp to your destination path.
