Hello, I re-contributed to BWW and downloaded the AOO 4.1.11. Uninstalled the 4.x version I had before (cannot remember which one it was, maybe 4.2 ?), then installed this version, started the spreadsheet to check everything was OK.
Just like for the previous 4.x install, the WPS did not close properly after uninstallation - new installation (only things I had done in the session) - I got the window that prompts the user to confirm/input the location of the desktop folder, and the OS did not shut down properly (Ctrl + Alt + Del it was).
After the reboot, the INI checker pointing out a problem and suggesting to go back one version in the INI files, which I did. Stopped on a black screen, another ctrl + alt + del and the desktop appears. Of course, afterwards, no more icons in the program group for AOO.
Has someone had that problem with the AOO warpin installer ?

I have been using this version since it came out and no issues.
Have you tried a reinstall ?
Hope you get it sorted out.

Did you try AOO 4.1.2 rather than the older 4.1.11? I ask because I see no reason to use the older version.
-
Ivan are you beta testing that version?

4.1.11 is much newer than 4.1.2 :D

4.1.11 is the latest one provided by BWW

Interesting what you are all saying but I will stay with my AOO 4.1.2 that does everything I want and even allows me to solve problems for my win using friends.

Glenn,
Looks like you may have some other INI problems, and perhaps the uninstall/install process simply highlighted them?
Are you able to get back to a working config?
If YES, I would recommend running checkini to see what it finds.
For my part, that is pretty much the approach I take to each significant App upgrade:
1) clean existing INIs
2) save backup of INIs
3) execute the upgrade
4) save backup of INIs
5) clean new INIs
...yup, a bit tedious and time consuming but for the most part that has proven itself to be a reliable approch to producing a good outcome.
From a more specific hints/topics perspective, how about tossing this into your CONFIG.SYS if you don't have this already:
SET DESKTOP=x:\DESKTOP
where: 'x' is your boot drive.
