Tried to click on the circle at the right to restart the download? It helped here in the past for numerous time. Though I've no clue why sometimes the download is canceled immediately.

I don't know why that would cause RSync to use more time to transfer the files.
I don't know the details either but Steven explained it a while ago. Since then I switched off EA support for all my samba shares. I seem to remember there's also a switch with our rsync to disable this EA processing.

I can start the daemon 'git daemon --reuseaddr --base-path=/git_repositories/ /git_rerepositories/', I can sort of connect from the other machine with 'git clone git@server:/git_repositories/test' but get
Code: [Select]
Cloning into 'test'...
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.

My goal is to have git repositories on my server running OS/2. At first I started with ssh which seems to be the usual way to connect to a git server. But can't get this running. See the other thread - https://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php/topic,3175.0.html

Now I tried with git daemon which is in netlabs.exp. But can't get this to work either. Seems I've to setup a linux server instead...

I now can start sshd. F.i. from bash -
Code: [Select]
{0}[p:\etc\ssh] bash
P:\USR\BIN\bash.exe-5.0# /usr/sbin/sshd -D
Sort of connection does work but can't do anything like can be done on linux hosts.

I had to create keys with -
Code: [Select]
ssh-keygen -t rsa -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key
ssh-keygen -t dsa -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key
ssh-keygen -t ecdsa -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_ecdsa_key
ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_ed25519_key

Thanks. I will make more test the next days/weeks.

Key creation works. Although I'm not sure were is the best place to keep them. %etc% (M:\mptn\etc or P:\etc - boot drive or unixroot) or %home% (E:\home\default) in my case. Have to play with this. But it clearly shows my decision to keep boot drive, rpm/%unixroot% and data separated on different drives may introduce additional problems linux guys do not have.

I just had the opportunity to test sshd on win. It shows the same message -
Code: [Select]
....apps\git\usr\bin] sshd
sshd re-exec requires execution with an absolute path
So this seems to be
- no bug or
- cross platform bug or
- a user command error or
- a feature.

This is with latest openssh which comes with the win git version from yesterday.

Maybe we simply do not know how to install/use sshd correctly?

Probably I've stated before I've nearly no clue about all these ssh things. But in the meantime I played a bit. I did successfully connect from OS/2 to one linux box with the openssh5.3 version. But still can't get a sshd running on OS/2.

Is see only one single file in the zip - Dooble.exe. Do you mean starting this dooble.exe (not tried until yet) and look at the Help menu?

I have a need for a very small portable computer that will run ArcaOS.
You know this thread - https://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php/topic,2948.msg33308.html#msg33308 ?

No clue if it is still available.

Btw. I think a more meaningful subject wouldn't hurt ;-)

Thanks for the infos.

instead of a page I get an error page print out of some sort of PScript error.
No clue what your error is but it reminds my on my problems with the Xerox 6xx?? I had long ago. The fix at that time was to hexedit pscript to not send this one failing PS command which my Xerox did not understand. Luckily PS errors usually get printed in readable text and so sometimes can be deciphered. Unfortunately this Xerox failed after a few years of flawless use with a mechanical failure. Btw. the reason why I switched to my current HP Officejet Pro X476dw. But now I also want A3 ....

I found the Brother MFC-J6955DW which seems to have Postscript. On some sites they call it PCL6, BR-Script3 - which probably means it's not 100% Postscript 3 compatible.

Brother seems the only brand which have Postscript below 600€ now :-(. I've never had any device from Brother. I've good experience with HP. These printers usually lasts way longer than 10 years. I've mixed experience with (cheap) Xerox PS printers, bad experience with Lexmark.... Are there anyone else her with a Brother printer and want to share his experience?

Cups - I think there is not much problem with PCL or PS printers and cups. The mentioned HP 7740 is even selectable in our standard cups. No clue if anyone tested this.

Andy, your Brother 7365DN seems to be a GDI (host based) printer, right? Something I want to avoid. But the Brother MFC-J6955DW looks very promising.

Any suggestions for good A3 printer with postscript? Seems even HP gave up.

(FTR, MiniLVM doesn't use REXX at all.)
Thanks for clarification. Do you use standard PM windows programmed in C? With URE created resource files or manually edited text files? Just curious....

I'm thinking about buying a HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer but it only supports 'HP PCL 3 GUI, HP PCL 3 Enhanced'. Usually I have printers with postscript and/or PCL5(+) support. No I wonder if I can use the features of this A3 printing engine. I guess scanner will work the same way as it does with my HP OfficeJet Pro 475dw (smb, ftp?, email). Working fax isn't that important. But I need high resolution print outs on A3 page sizes (11 x 17"). Color, duplex and tray selection.

I'm pretty sure ported programs will work good enough with the help of cups. But how about the standard OS/2 drivers? PCL 3 seems pretty old but back at the days when OS/2 drivers where written I fear it was limited to 300dpi and maybe even color didn't work work PCL3. Any knows?

Is there any hope it would work when the others do not?
I don't think so, sorry. My question was because lvmgui need a working java environment while AFAIK Mini-LVM need some Rexx libraries.

Based on your comment I fear your problem is more fundamental. Unfortunately I'm out of ideas.
