Mo,

The NIC driver needs to be located after certain other drivers in the CONFIG.SYS file, and gives that exact symptom if it is not. Run 'testlog generic' from a command line and in the file created scroll down to the 'Config.sys' section and see if it lists any errors.

Roberto,

Use ANPM (Arcanoae package manager) to install libvpx from the netlabs repository. There may be other requirements like that too, the error message gives a hint.

Networking / Re: Can not connect to TCP/IP - DHCP Client
« on: December 28, 2025, 02:45:20 pm »
Martin,

Glad you got it working. Normally the first line when you type 'netstat -r' would be 'default   192.168.10.1  0.0.0.0  0  UGP  lan0' which is your default route to your router. That seems to be missing, so you would need to add a default route on the 'Routing' tab of the TCP/IP notebook app. DCHP will get this automatically.

Martin,

With the USB ethernet attached and driver loaded and IP set to static, open a command prompt and type 'netstat -r'. What do you get?

Maybe it's not an alpha, 'About PMMail' says:

 3.26.00.2024 (32973)
 Dec 31 2024 20:39:44 +0000 (GMT)
 Session Time: 4.0 seconds

And it is currently available on Hobbes (uploaded back in July). It works OK here, just get a warning that it is expired and needs a license every once in a while. Thanks for keeping it alive and look forward to any new updates!

I was watching the presentation at Warpstock Roderick gave when he mentioned the new repo for WPI apps so I immediately added it to ANPM and was able to download and install everything on it - thanks Roderick! (and thanks Martin for showing it). It all works great. I agree with Martin that lswitcher and Dataseeker be included too.

One thing I'm curious about - there was an alpha PMMail 3.26 version awhile back, but nothing about it since. Will there be any further releases? The alpha does not seem to recognize my license...

Lars,

I never paid much attention to those 'Win_Res_xx' entries in OS2.ini - but noticed there is no entry for 1920x1080 resolutions. Do you know if this can be manually added? It looks like, besides the display drivers (entries 51 and 52), the entries only determine the font to use. If they can be added, then using the github screen driver, 1920x1080 could be added to explicitly call out that driver (which is what it seems to be good for). Anyone know of a document that describes these settings in OS2.ini?

Hi Martin,

With a Windows 11 host, I have 2 shared folders - one on a FAT32 drive and one on an NTFS drive. I only get that message you show in ArcaOS on the folder on the NTFS drive. I have the /eas switch on my FAT32.IFS line in CONFIG.SYS so seems that takes care of it there? I don't know of any way to get rid of that message, but would also like to know how (if possible). Wonder if there are any switches for the VBoxSF.ifs driver that would do it....

Just installed VirtualBox 7.2.0 and this problem has been fixed in the new additions. Thanks Martin for reporting in github and thanks Knut for fixing it!

Hexen 2 seems to work well here too - thanks Dave for your work on these games - I'm having a blast! Is there any larger window parameters that can be used? 640x480 is pretty small on my computer screen, although I can maximize the window, but then it is very pixelated and stretched. Tried 1280x960, but it didn't like that (reverted to an even smaller 320x240)...

Regards,

EDIT: Duh! I was able to just grab a corner of the window and resize and it works fine...

Remy,

Thanks for the detailed reply! I now see the rxtnsion.dll in the \AVxCAT\DLLs directory and also Voix.exe in the main \AVxCAT directory. Don't know why the log window said they were not found. I'll also try some of your other suggestions...
