Hi Martin,

With a Windows 11 host, I have 2 shared folders - one on a FAT32 drive and one on an NTFS drive. I only get that message you show in ArcaOS on the folder on the NTFS drive. I have the /eas switch on my FAT32.IFS line in CONFIG.SYS so seems that takes care of it there? I don't know of any way to get rid of that message, but would also like to know how (if possible). Wonder if there are any switches for the VBoxSF.ifs driver that would do it....

Just installed VirtualBox 7.2.0 and this problem has been fixed in the new additions. Thanks Martin for reporting in github and thanks Knut for fixing it!

Eugene,

With the HP15C emulator, you can use the num-pad for entering numbers and operators...

Hexen 2 seems to work well here too - thanks Dave for your work on these games - I'm having a blast! Is there any larger window parameters that can be used? 640x480 is pretty small on my computer screen, although I can maximize the window, but then it is very pixelated and stretched. Tried 1280x960, but it didn't like that (reverted to an even smaller 320x240)...

Regards,

EDIT: Duh! I was able to just grab a corner of the window and resize and it works fine...

Remy,

Thanks for the detailed reply! I now see the rxtnsion.dll in the \AVxCAT\DLLs directory and also Voix.exe in the main \AVxCAT directory. Don't know why the log window said they were not found. I'll also try some of your other suggestions...

Hi Remy,

I tried your prereqs installer... here is what I did and some observations:

Installed AVxCAT 2.2.2.0 (over 2.1.1.2), got FP2 and copied, then ran the prereqs installer. It said I did not have ID3V2, Timidity, Ogginfo, and Leech. I did already have timidity, but the path was wrong on the parameters page, so changed to the correct path (C:\Programs\timidity). I choose to download and not install, ran it and everything downloaded (plus some other stuff). Installed all in the locations suggested by the structure of the downloaded zip files (\usr\local\bin and \usr\local\lib were already on my path) and ran the Leech WPI. Then re-ran the prereqs installer and this time it said I did not have ID3V2 and Ogginfo, but again the paths were wrong on the parameters page. Changed the paths and now everything is recognized under AVxCAT parameters, except priority.exe was colored yellow (why yellow?). Manually looked for priority.exe on my system and it was missing, so installed FM2UTILS from WPI. Now priority.exe is white on the parameters page. Re-ran the prereqs installer and now it said I did not have priority.exe (but do and it is recognized on the parameters page). Tried again and it still shows priority.exe is missing.

Now it seems everything needed is set up so I started trying things. Noticed under 'View' on the toolbar, you can open a log window at the bottom and see what is going on under the hood. At the beginning it shows loading and testing various components. There were 2 it did not find: 'rxtnsion not loaded' and 'Voix not found'. I went to Hobbes and found Voix and installed, but could not find any 'rxtnsion'. At least now it finds Voix.

Thanks for creating AVxCAT! It is amazingly comprehensive and so somewhat complex - will spend some more time trying it out.

Regards,

EDIT: The problem with priority.exe is that I did not reboot after installing FM2UTILS. Apparently, it adds the path to FM2UTILS to PATH and AVxCAT uses that to find priority.exe.

Jan-Erik,

I have SDL2 installed, but version 2.0.18 (which is not the most recent - that one I had trouble with). I think you need SDL2_Mixer as well, but I have all the SDL2 items installed so not sure.

The 3 packages can be downloaded from within OpenTTD. The graphics will be downloaded the first time you run OpenTTD. The 2 sound files have to be selected from the 'Check Online Content' dialog to download them. Then you need to go into 'Game Options -> 'Sound' and choose the sound effects and music to use from their drop-down menus.

Just double-click on openttd.exe to run...

Hey Paul,

Thanks for this! It seems OK, but I still can't get music to play. I do have a MIDI object for WPS playing and I can play the MIDI files for the game from the WPS. Do I need to specify a 'music driver' in openttd.cfg for OS/2?

Regards,

EDIT: I had the idea to try the SoundBlaster 16 emulation and driver because it had MIDI support natively. The SB16 PNP driver from the 5.1.1 install CD installed OK, but on boot it says the SB16D2.SYS driver was not initialized. Anybody ever get the SoundBlaster driver working with VirtualBox?

Glad it works for you too. Besides the music, the only other thing I found that doesn't work is on the 'Help and Manuals' dialog, on the 'Websites' column everything there will lock the process - I presume because there needs to be a way to open a browser that is not implemented for OS/2.

I'm using KSoftSeq for MIDI, but maybe SDL doesn't recognize MIDI on OS/2?

Martin,

Yes, I am using UniAud and ArcaOS 5.1.1 in a VBox session too. Did you go into 'Game Options'-> 'Sound' and choose 'OpenFSX' in the 'Base Sounds' drop-down box? Same with 'Base Music' drop-down and 'OpenMSX', but that doesn't seem to work. You can also edit the openttd.cfg file in \Home\OpenTTD by hand. I set my resolution to 1280x960 there to get a larger game screen...

This is the best OpenTTD I've used yet.

It works here too. You need to download sound effects and base music separately (from the 'Check online content' menu). The sound effects work fine here, but I can't get music to play (is it MIDI). Pretty good overall though!

Regards,

EDIT: looks like it need a 'music driver' defined but none of the offered ones worked - and it is MIDI. Wonder if Kai could be used for this...

Sounds good to me too - didn't want to jump in to your request, but didn't want it to be forgotten either, thanks.

Working well here too, thanks Dave!

@Martin - FYI, there was a reply and question from textbrowser to your request for a password repository on the Dooble github site that you never answered. Did you see it?

Hi Roderick,

Would you have any insight into why this driver doesn't work with EFI? I would report to the developer, but don't want to just say 'It doesn't work'...
