Setup & Installation / Re: C0000005 error
« on: September 09, 2018, 11:35:02 am »
Hmm..  yep, I disabled Speedstep and the multiple cores;  no effect. I seem to remember finding instructions on updating the Kernel on the disks, but haven't been able to re-find it.   Still searching. Google seems to be going out of its way to not give relevant results.
Could it be the atapi or ibm1s506 drivers?  Needing a switch?   I hit alt-f2 and all the drivers loaded fine.  It seems to crap out immediately after CD spins up and the access light flashes, like the handoff isn't established.   Maybe the CD is corrupted;  i"ll burn a new one and try it.   I tried REMming out the RUN NPConfig.EXE;  no difference.  I've re-re-tried multiple dani1S506 versions (with respective DaniATAPI driver), with forced bus mode etc.  Maybe I'll try it with the IBM1s506 set next.

Honey Badger Mode Activated.

Closer!  I removed 3/4 of the RAM, so its down to 512mb.   On the third disk, it gets to "Loading, please wait...",  it beeps, the CD drive spins up and the access light flashes a few times...  and then the system halts with "System Installation failed to start the session."

Yes, set copyfromfloppy=1 is in the config.sys so that the drivers are loaded from the floppy diskettes rather than the installation CD.

Setup & Installation / C0000005 error
« on: September 07, 2018, 11:34:13 am »
I"m trying to install W4.5  and I'm getting a C0000005 Error on the floppy disk install.    Any idea on its where to look?

I  spent 4 1/2 hours trying to install v4.5 on Dell e510;  tried multiple Dani1S506 (and DaniATAPI) drivers but kept getting "unable to operate your hard disk" errors, so I switched back to the 2003 versions of IBM1S506 and IBMATAPI. Success! kind of ...     now I get to the "Loading..."  screen, but then it stops with this.
Search brings up a few hits but none are the same as this so I'm clueless.

Setup & Installation / bus master error
« on: July 11, 2018, 11:11:38 am »
I'm getting an error on a Warp 4.52 install on Dell e510. I updated the disks according to Alan Savage's workstation guide, but now get a bus master error after Disk 2.   What am I missing?

Setup & Installation / Swap on separate drive

I'm getting ready to install Warp 4 on a Dell e510 with 4mb ram and two 130gb drives.  Is it preferable to have the swap partition on a different drive than the OS?   It will be a dual boot WinXp/Warp4 box.  I figure drive 1 will have the os's and drive 2 will be an HFS warp swap partition and a large fat32 partition for user data and apps.

Setup & Installation / Re: moving desktop icons

Yea, I can get a little long winded at times :)     I think my problem was that I upgraded pretty randomly- fixpak  15, wr8610 & 21 then whatever I could find in no particular order.  Obviously not the best idea.
I tried checkini and it found a metric boatload of errors and 'can't access..."  problems, so I'll derez it and start over.

thanks for the ideas

Setup & Installation / moving desktop icons
« on: June 13, 2018, 08:14:50 am »
I've got a weird problem I can't seem to get a handle on and google is terrible anymore.
Installed warp 4 on a Virtualbox 5.2.12;  updated to fixpack 15, tcpip, kernel and gradd97 drivers.  Everything works great, so I  installed a few apps.  I'm not sure when the problem began, but moving a desktop icon breaks the functionality of that program.  For example, I installed WarpIn.  It works fine. The WarpIn icon is in a WarpIN folder on the desktop. I want to reduce clutter, so I drag the Warpin Folder to Programs, the standard Desktop folder.  After that, WarpIn No longer works- I get a Cannot Start Error, Check Path and memory.  Dragging the folder back out does no good.  Delete all the WarpIn stuff by os/2 DOS window and re-install.  WarpIn Works fine til I move it, then it breaks again.  Moving it back doesnt restore function.  If I click "Find Original"  it lists the only one installed at the same location as the icon.  Clicking on the found original in the search box gives me the same error.
This has happened on a few other programs, too. I've checked the path in the properties tab and it appears fine.
What am I doing wrong?
