TFF is not exactly in great shape
Yeah, TenFourFox was usable enough for banking and such but I usually disabled javascript altogether for general browsing even on a G4. And forget embedded video, modern codecs choked it.

as for Pale Moon it is buggy
;D What did you expect from furries?

There's not many options besides the QT based browser. FF52 could still be ported and then the various forks such as PaleMoon could be ported. Really, now there is the Webkit browsers, Firefox and its forks.
Users of older PPC Mac hardware are truly blessed by Cameron Kaiser's work on TenFourFox. The Pale Moon/XUL project is also interesting as from it there has spawned independent forks for OS X Snow Leopard and even Windows XP!

Yes, YouTube has started to bug me daily to read this, accept that. http://www.tonvid.com is a more streamlined interface for the videos and https://startpage.com lets you do regular google searches via proxy, might be better...

General Discussion / Re: OS/2 on a Via C7 desktop?

Let me know if it is ok.
Yes, very good. The entire Cx0 lineup (C10LE, C30LE etc) is pretty much identical and differs only regarding RAM/flash size and what kind of OS the model comes bundled with. ACPI is not strictly needed as the chipset runs very cool, DaniS506 for the IDE, SNAP/Panorama for video.

crippled terminals
Besides the übersmall form factor (no space for a real harddrive) the Cx0 was quite capable, got everything to work from Windows 98/2k to Haiku and lighter linux distros. Not bad for €15!

::) The thing completely died on me so I'm guessing it was bad hardware after all - attaching pci.txt anyways.

Need to load socketsk.sys and afinetk.sys instead of sockets.sys and afinet.sys.
socketsk.sys and afinetk.sys are already the default.

After a succesful ArcaOS 5.0.4 install on the Wyse thin client I'm unable to use the network for long, can ping and sync the time but starting any browser results in:
Exception in module: SOCKETS
TRAP 000e

Might be the Velocity ethernet driver?

I would be awesome if you can share the hardware report of it, so I can include that wyse pc on the Wiki.
OK, I'll do a clean install this weekend and see if it still works.

Setup & Installation / Re: Triple OS setup?
« on: September 02, 2020, 08:15:57 pm »
Not planning to triple boot or anything so this is just my observation  ;)
Successfully installed Haiku beta2 on empty primary partition (as it ran perfectly from a USB stick) but was unable to boot it directly with AiR-BOOT 1.1.4:
bios_ia32 stage1: Failed to load OS. Press any key to reboot
I believe the same error popped up when I tried AiR-BOOT on a non-OS/2 machine as well, then I just booted via GRUB. HAIKU also has its own simple bootmanager.

It's great that ArcaOS is so versatile - I still have some big box win3.x productivity software to test  ;)

Unfortunately the glossy Riot client no longer works with older web browsers like OS/2 Firefox/SeaMonkey or TenFourFox for PowerPC Macs - fortunately more lightweight web clients like https://matrix.org/docs/projects/client/scylla work better!
