Just wondered if WSeB contained the latest version of LAN Server... Anyone know?

Setup & Installation / Warp Server on ArcaOS

Is there anything I should be aware of before installing Warp Server on ArcaOS?

I assume I can install it without breaking anything....

I just reinstalled today and things seem to work OK - keyboard and mouse work just as they should, so I've no idea what was wrong previously.

I just noticed I can use Alt-F1 during booting and select from the available options but once booted there is no response.  Could it be the USB drivers causing the problem?

Setup & Installation / ArcaOS on ThinkCenter M93 Tiny
« on: October 12, 2017, 12:33:59 pm »
I'm sure I posted this a couple of months ago but can't find any trace....

I'm trying to run ArcaOS on a ThinkCenter M93 Tiny but the keyboard and mouse do not work. The system runs OK on a ThinkPad  X61, but on the M93 Tiny it boots up but I can't do anything. The clock works so the system has not hung. The keyboard works with the Boot Menu, but once ArcaOS boots I get no response.

What should I try?

Setup & Installation / Re: LVM cmd reference

That's exactly what I was looking for... I can't think why I didn't come across it.  I looked in the 'Assistance Center' folder and then 'Information -> Reference and Commands -> Command Reference' but that never opened up. Maybe I don't have the help system configure properly.

Thanks for the pointer. an interesting site which I had forgotten about. However, whilst there is a lot of info about LVM, including how to use LVM in programs, I couldn't see a list of LVM commands and how to use them...

Setup & Installation / Re: ThinkPad X220

Hi John

ACPI v3.23.01? - Not an ArcaOS install then.

Has the drive letter changed as a result of adding the drive into a system with another drive - the mSATA drive? Could be worth using the dfsee bootable CD to check drive letter assignment and adjust as necessary.

Is the X220 BIOS set to use AHCI or IDE disk access mode? - Using the Dani Driver suggests you have installed in IDE mode but the BIOS may be set to AHCI.

Regards

Pete

It's not ArcaOS, but it's an AN ACPI driver which I bought a year ago.

The BIOS was set to AHCI so I set it to Compatibility and tried again with my OS/2 disk. This time the boot process hung as it was loading DANIS506.ADD. Under Compatibility, Windows, which is installed on the mSata disk crashed immediately...

Can OS/2 run using AHCI?

Should I replace DANIS506.ADD with IBM1S506.ADD? I'm using a 320GB disk.

When booting on the X220 all the drivers get loaded and then this is displayed:

ACPI based Platform Specific Driver v 3.23.01

Daniela's Bus Master IDE Driver for OS/2 Version 1.8.15
OS/2 is unable to operate your hard disk or diskette drive

I don't know if this is relevant but the X220 has a mSata disk installed in addition to the hard disk I'm trying to boot OS/2 from.

Setup & Installation / LVM cmd reference

I've been looking for a command reference for LVM, something on a web page or a PDF would be ideal rather than 'lvm /?'

All the web searches I've done point to Linux references.

I haven't tried yet. eCS 2.2 b2 runs on it, too, if updated with AN Drivers and Software.

Any idea which drivers and software? I may already have the required AN drivers.

Hi John

That may be a problem if there is also a Windows boot partition on the same disk - but only for Windows. Usually there is no problem installing OS/2 to a hard drive in a pc then swapping that hard drive to another pc.

Regards

Pete

I have OS/2 installed on a hard disk which works in a ThinkPad X61, but crashes whilst booting in an X220. I'd be interested in knowing what I need to change to get it working in the X220.

Hardware / Re: Reference diskette for PS/2 Model 95
« on: June 23, 2017, 01:52:54 pm »
CMOS battery is on the planar behind the power supply.   The PSU has a blue twist knob that you unscrew and tilt the PSU down.  Then the battery
and memory SIMM connectors should be visible.

What is the model number of the PS/2 95?  It should be under the power button.  Can you post a picture of the processor complex?

I'm away at the moment, but will do so on my return.

I'm thinking of something like Clonezilla...
Clonezilla is an program for imaging partitions, that's different from backup/restore. It doesn't run from inside the OS.

Clonezilla can create images of partitions and disks and can be run from a network or local media, but unfortunately it can't handle OS/2.
I even tried using Unix 'dd' to create an image file of a FAT partition, but was unable to restore it as a bootable system.
