Is there anything I should be aware of before installing Warp Server on ArcaOS?

I assume I can install it without breaking anything....

Setup & Installation / ArcaOS on ThinkCenter M93 Tiny
« on: October 12, 2017, 12:33:59 pm »
I'm sure I posted this a couple of months ago but can't find any trace....

I'm trying to run ArcaOS on a ThinkCenter M93 Tiny but the keyboard and mouse do not work. The system runs OK on a ThinkPad  X61, but on the M93 Tiny it boots up but I can't do anything. The clock works so the system has not hung. The keyboard works with the Boot Menu, but once ArcaOS boots I get no response.

What should I try?

Setup & Installation / LVM cmd reference
« on: June 24, 2017, 08:26:15 pm »
I've been looking for a command reference for LVM, something on a web page or a PDF would be ideal rather than 'lvm /?'

All the web searches I've done point to Linux references.

Utilities / Backup software

Does anyone know of any backup utilities for OS/2 which restore an OS/2 installation from a network? I'm thinking of something like Clonezilla...

Setup & Installation / PXE booting OS/2
« on: June 20, 2017, 11:20:06 pm »
PXE is a great way to boot a system from the network rather than from local media. IBM's DHCP server for OS/2, part of WSeB, can be set up to enable remote boot via TFTP, which is part of PXE. I've tried to get this set up a number of times but never succeeded, but I want to give it another try. Anyone know what the bootfile is called? The file, that is offered to the network boot client?

How can I tell if there would be any chance of OS/2 /AN working on a Lenovo ThinkCentre M93 Tiny?

Hardware / Reference diskette for PS/2 Model 95
« on: June 18, 2017, 10:00:50 pm »
Venturing into the loft I couldn't help wondering if my old IBM PS/2 Model 95 would start up. It hasn't been switched on for 10 years, but I have WSeB installed on it and used to use it as a RIPL server so I wanted to know if it still worked. Unfortunately there were startup errors which needed a Reference diskette, which I found but it couldn't be read, so I'm trying to create a new one, but all the old IBM files have either been deleted or moved elsewhere. Anyone know where to look?

Storage / JFS on FreeBSD

Given that there is an OPENJFS, is there any reason why this couldn't be built on FreeBSD?

Setup & Installation / format /fs:hpfs does not work
« on: June 18, 2017, 01:26:12 pm »
I'm trying to format a new partition from a Warp CP2 CD using the command prompt. The disk has already been partitioned with two partitions (C: and D:) having been created. At the command from I run:-

e:\os2image\disk_3\format c: /fs:hpfs

and get the error msg

SYS1311: The system files are missing

Anyone know which 'system files' are being referred to?

I can format as FAT without any problem.

Last year I found a PDF of IBM's Redbook - Warp 4 CID Rapid Deployment Tools but can't seem to find it now.

Anyone know where to look?

Setup & Installation / USB support in original CP2 CD
« on: June 14, 2017, 11:54:06 pm »
I've been installing OS/2 CP2 (4.52) over the last couple of days to try and get up to speed. I had forgotten that it came with USB drivers and that by default they are commented out in CONFIG.SYS, I've just uncommented all eight of them but have no idea what to expect. What can I do with these drivers? ... I can't seem to read a small USB stick.

I know there are updated drivers available, I just wondered if the original ones actually did anything?

Is anyone aware of a utility which will convert *.DSK files to *.IMG files, ie images of those files which can be mounted?
