Internet / Re: Firefox - 45.9.0 for OS/2 GA1.1...anyone...anyone???
« on: April 21, 2018, 11:04:23 pm »
In my case this version of firefox 45-9-3, works the same as others, but youtube videos they are not visible. A wheel comes out spinning, and the video is never loaded. When closing it does not close either, I have to kill him.
The videos on YouTube, had two problems,
1 - sometimes stopped the video and to continue I had to press Wi-Fi on-off and I continued
2- The second problem was that the sound was repeated, and you had to close firefox, and tell cancel
so that it continues.

The first error was repaired recently but the second error was not.
The second error now, is very similar to the first, sometimes I have to press Wi-Fi on-off to continue.
Sometimes when you stop by clicking with the mouse on the time bar projected, continues to be seen.

The versions that work best for me are the FF45.5, and almost all the seamonkey.

But I also have applications that need wifi on-off to continue, and that do not have nothing to do with the browser.
1- In a two-window session, if I execute qbasic, pulse esc, alt + f, and move through the menus
it locks, if I leave it the laptop heats up and goes out. If pulse wifi on-off continues without problems
until it locks up again, the application.
2- If I run find ... of the xcenter, looking for a file in a large unit, the same.
3- If I run find ... of the xcenter, and tell it to save the result in a folder, the blocking
it's the same but much worse, not just wifi on-off to continue, I have to remove and plug the mouse usb to continue and turn off the computer.

In a full-screen DOS session the qbasic does not give me that error.

I have the host with arca502, and using guest xp created with the previous version works fine for me. VTx is selected. Although he tells me that this error is working well. But if I try to install ubuntu as guest or arcaos it gives me the error -1018 ... and when it starts it gives me an error in the installation.

Hello Valery
About your coment this in ecs2.2:
ifs=d:\os2\jfs.ifs /autocheck:* /cache:128000 /lazy:8,60,5 /p1
I modified in arca502, the config.sys following your suggestion this line
for this
IFS=C:\OS2\JFS.IFS /cache:128000 /LW:5,20,4 /AUTOCHECK:*
And now I start the two versions of the virtual box well.
The error he gave me was -1018, and it started sporadically. Now is ok.

In my case, I have not installed any more libraries, than the ones I already had with Firefox or Seamonkey.
Also sometimes I do not boot, but if I run first firefox or seamonkey the previous version and close it. It always starts me.

Here doing tests with virtuaadresslimit 512, I got this error in a trp that seems interesting
. It says memory failure, js, see the attachment. and do not start.
The previous version of seamonkey, can work with 512

In my case the results are sporadic.

The VM may not start up when I try it 5-6 times, and then the next time it will boot.
Yes, is sporadic, 2 times 5 times. I guess that's why he asks for the timertest.

1) Is the Windows XP VM your using one that you  created under the OS/2 version (5.0.6 or 5.0.51?) or did you use a VDI that was created under another version of VirtualBox (eg. under Windows?). In my case it was created on a Windows machine using VBox 5.0.22.
Create in 506 with os2 , and I return to 506.
Libcx 060
I tried the Virtualaddresslimit you suggested - no difference.
I am testing this value of virtualaddresslimit,  I'm looking for more system stability, and for now what I think works best is to disable the sounds of the system. But this has to be checked every bit, because in start-ups it is activated on its own.

Both VM's are recognized by VirtualBox, but when I attempt to boot them, more times than not I get a message "Unknown error 1018 - during initialization of the runtime" (JPG attached). The detail screen comes up with a message that "The Virtual Machine WindowsXP has terminated unexpectedly during start-up with an exit code 1 (0x1) in Component "MachineWrap" (JPG attached).

This does not occur ever time, as I can boot the WindowsXP VM, especially if I use "Machine - Start -  Normal Start" from the Menu Bar, but, after multiple boots of both VM's in VirtualBox, the results vary.

I was wondering the following:

1) Has anyone encountered that problem starting up a VBOX VM session? (It seems to occur with both the Window XP VDI and the Windows 7 VM that I have not installed yet,)

Is there a workaround?

I just saw the mistake you're making.
But I only get the first time I run the virtual machine xp. If I execute it a second time, I do not get any error.
I'm not using highmem.
And virtualaddress = 2840

Hardware / Re: How to find or extract a Postscript printer driver?
« on: March 26, 2018, 08:33:55 pm »
Hi Pete
If you are using a postcript printer you do not need to install it in cups.
You are right, it should be like that.
But following your comments, I created another printer with the same ppd, but from this other program:
C:\SYS\APPS\PRINTMAN\PRINTMAN.EXE/create   (Install Printer)
The printer is created, it even indicates a port already configured LPD, but it does not print anything.
I change the port and it does not print anything.
If you are using a raster printer (most inkjets) you *do* need to install it in cups as cups is the software that does the conversion between postscript and raster enabling the postscript output from applications to print on raster printers.
ok 100%
You used cupswiz which starts with creating the cups printer, imports the ppd file used with the cups printer into the pscript.drv and finally sets up the OS/2 printer object.
Yes, But my system works, is there another system to do it?
In the past, the other way was to create your own printer with

I had a very curious case, installing a printer. I comment on it if it can help someone.
I just installed arca502 from the beginning.
And I decided to create a new printer, a printer that worked in the past with psprint and whose ppd is correct.
I do not install it in cups.
I select this program
C:\SYS\APPS\CUPSGUI\CUPSWIZ.EXE  (install cups printer)
In the installation I select the ppd that is correct, and I believe it.
I try it and it does not work, it can be the port ...
Change the output port and it still does not work.

Click twice on this file:
I select the printer and drag it to the desktop, I put the port in it and it works.

The conclusion that I get, is that you do not need to install the printer in cups to make it work.

What strikes me is that the two printers use the same driver, and with the same port, one does not work and the other does.

Funny, I had never seen that mistake. With none of the pc. Could it be something of the language?

Of the three files to make the cupstestppd only in the Lexmark passes the test. The other two fail.
Can you tell the models and if they are of injection or laser?

However, when I attempt to print two lines of text from e.exe to the created printer, both lines are printed on the same line of the paper.
The e.exe fail to print. Use other editor epm.exe

Hi Michael

You should find psprint bits here [dvd]:\CID\SERVER\PRINTPAK\PSPRINT.ZIP

I suggest you try the following
1] Delete any existing printer objects and queues
2] Open a command line in [BootDrive]:\sys\install\PRNDRV\PMDD_6 and use DEL * to clear the directory - you will have problems trying to delete a .DRV file using the Desktop
Just call attention to delete this folder ?:\Os2\dll\psprint have two options
a) Start with alt + F1 when the OS / 2 icon appears in your left window and then F2
b) Boot the system from the DVD and use the system maintenance and open a comamdcom
3] Open a command line in [BootDrive]:\OS2\DLL\psprint\psprint.drv and use DEL * to clear the directory
4] Unzip [dvd]:\CID\SERVER\PRINTPAK\PSPRINT.ZIP into the [BootDrive]:\sys\install\PRNDRV\PMDD_6 directory
5] Use Computer -> Printers -> Install Printer to create a new printer

The Arca Noae Package Manager should show any hplip updates - you may want to install the netlabs-exp repository as that shows v3.17.11-1 available but be aware that the "exp" probably means experimental.

Thanks Pete, I was thinking about the browser, but no, the problem was in the RAM Disk, which had it as fat32, and apparently is incompatible with the new versions of the FAT32 driver. Modify the ram disk to hpfs, and all ok. Even the computer works colder, because I had a problem of overheating.
Can you confirm is you are run with a ramdisk with fat32?

There are 2 differences between the above test and the original burn:-
You sure were not 3 differences?
You run firefox prebious to start dvd?
or you start de pc and run dvd

I guess I'll never know the answer...
I hope so, because if not it will be a bug not repaired.

I'm sorry, but I can not tell you, if the machine uses you, and you know that those errors are for the fat32 in beta, put the last one. If it is a work team put the most stable.
I can say that I do not have the last one installed yet. And that two programs have given me similar problems of hanging the system, the DVDtoys, and the Zippy

PD: For Ivan, you can unpack the *.iso files with zippy.  I have read another message from you and commented that you unzip iso in windows. About memdisk ... Thanks.
