Hi Eric,

I noticed it vanished quite a while ago, I don't expect to see it return.

Applications / Re: Which program to use for ripping audio CDs to flac?
« on: September 11, 2015, 06:24:01 pm »
So far I've digitised 119 LP's to 32bit wave files, then used JRipper to convert them to FLAC for archiving, and MP3 for passing on to everyday listening.
Haven't had a single problem, well, not with flac conversion.

And after checking, over 184 CD's ripped to Flac and mp3's.

I still cant get David Parsons PMUniMixer binary to work, just tried the latest one from pmunimix-bin-0_70.zip (his latest one on hobbes).
I seem to have no problems with some programs that others do, and problems with programs that work fine for others.
To busy at present to worry about it when my older programs still do the job.

ding ding

JRipper might be the program I had to edit out a directory seperater '\' somewhere in the code, I don't think it actually worked at all for flac originally but that might be a totally separate problem to yours if you can get it to work at least once, as I don't think mine worked at all in the beginning with ripping CD's to whatever, or maybe I'm thinking of something else entirely different.

Hi Ivan

The file is a reasonably normal cmd file for java apps, might not even be needed but note there is a setting for LookAndFeel

Ignore the 'SET DIRCMD=' at the top if you dont do strange things with your dir command line :)

Hi Andi,

jRipper works fine for me, currently using Java 1.6
have you edited the jRipper cmd file ?

The cdda2wav file I'm using is

24/08/07  19:38     218092           0  cdda2wav.exe

and the version of flac is

28/12/12  21:51    1030721           0  flac.exe

both are set in jrippers setup paths.

Hi Joop,

Nice pictures you have, you can choose between 3 programs now;
http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e8.htm Siet, can also do batches.
http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e44.htm Batch Watermarker
http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e49.htm Watermarker, can also do batches.

Those photos are the ones I can put up with people 'pinching', my main photographic website
requires access information :)

Will try the above programs this weekend, have a few other things I said I'd do to still do yet

Thanks

Package is called prtscn18.zip  http://www.os2site.com/sw/internet/misc/prtscn18.zip

HI Martin,

I read Roderick's reply as..

Using the IBM DDK would be introducing old code that is nolonger relevant for todays hardware, from a programmers point of view it would be easier to compile modern code for usage under OS/2, that would also completely remove dependencies on code that is copyright and the licensing required in both legally accessing and using the IBM DDK.

I would be better legally, and very likely from a coding POV to recreate drivers from already open sourced code, or via a clean room method, you at least get rid of any legal problems right from the start and have a driver code base under current control.

I think I see were you are going with this but there is progress being made though slowly with new/updated drivers. Multimac, soon we should see SNAP again, USB drivers, word of possibly upgrading/advancing the USB Audio driver, which I'm very interested in so I
can use my MUSE USB sticks under OS/2 as well. Yes OS/2 lag's with driver development but look at how many people are working on it compared to other operating systems :(

Note, I've never looked at driver development under OS/2 so what I'm saying above could be me just blowing it out be backside,
just what I've picked up and possibly misunderstood in the process.

Applications / Re: Test build of Electrum Bitcoin wallet
« on: June 04, 2015, 08:04:18 pm »
A late reply,

Started the bitcoin QT client, let it create the directories it wanted then closed it down.
copied my blockchain over to /apps/.bitcoin and restarted the exe. Took a long time to
check the blocks which was ok as my server fell over after upgrading the firewall software.

The client eventually finished checking and started up fine, my wallet amount looked good,
tomorrow I'll restart it and make sure it talks to the net ok, I see no reason that it shouldn't  but
considering the time here and the time it took me to put a monitor, keyboard, and a DVD on my
headless server to boot and return to my previous version of the firewall software in between
the traps with fxwrap..  <== no server, no internet access, as the server sits between the inside
network and the outside world..

At least I updated my config.x in the process, it was dated 2001, shows how many times I'm
problems with this server since I upgraded it in 2007.

Thanks Sam and Paul,

I'll copy over my blockchain tomorrow or Wednesday and see how compatible it is,
then I might think about my wallet after :)

Hi Ivan,

I've noticed incorrect time keeping in Openjdk6 with Jalbum and a few other java apps, not a show stopper so I've never bothered investigating further, I'm in a -8 time zone with no DT but cant remember how many hours Openjdk6 was out.
