If  somebody is willing  to do an update to the set of Hardware Manager icons  and add a few new icons pls contact me.

Hi OS4User

Are you talking about redoing all the OS/2 icons or are you referring to to creating a few new OS/2 icons?

You want OS/2 icons or PNGs?

Tell me want you want and I will see what I can do.

David

Setup & Installation / Re: ArcaOS 5.0/Win98 SE Dual-Boot - Questions!

Hi DF94

As for myself, I have one Windows 8.1 partition and 3 ArcaOs partitions on my SDD drive.

On one partition I have the OS/4 kernel installed. The other partitions are using the ArcaOS kernel.  I use two of the partitions for testing and experimentation.  The other one I do not touch except for updates and a few enhancements.  I keep Win 8.1 around for programs I can only use under Windows.  The number of partitions will be determined by what you plan to do with your computer.

I decided to do one more PNG folder grouping, this time yellow.  This is the most extensive folder grouping I have done so far.  Again, this applies to the dynamic displays found in ArcaOS.  Again, each folder must individually be replaced.  I have chosen to run the yellow with my OS/4 kernel partition and the multicolor folder scheme with my ArcaOS kernel.

As near as I can tell, using PNGs has little effect on my systems.

I have made a new blue PNG folder scheme for ArcaOS.  These are PNGs to be use for dynamic icons when using the Dynamic icon display.  Every folder has to be individual replaced which for some people may be more work than it is worth.

It has not happened for some time.  I use the 80x80 png icons that I have created.  I haven't said much while testing this latest version.  It is definitely more responsive and the best version so far.  3D icons is definitely a great addition to my ArcaOS.

Looks like it was meant to be compiled with C-Set/2, the precursor of VACPP. The CTRL-Z's are put in there by the editor, they're DOS EOF markers.
C-Set/2, http://www.edm2.com/index.php/IBM_C_Set/2 seems to be available at WinWorld, https://winworldpc.com/product/ibm-c-set/20

That worked.  It's compiling all of the .C files.  It's looking for masm386 to compile the assembly.

I've never seen a masm386.exe program.  Microsoft's Macro Assembler 6.x had a masm.exe program that translated the old command line to the new one used by ml.exe.

Any idea where to find masm386?

Hi Rick

Here is one I found.  However, it may be a later version than can be used.

https://cmeerw.org/prog/dm/rtl.html

There is an earlier version found on the following page dated 1989:

Hi

I missed something on the road. How it is supposed to be used the clock skins? On which OS/2 program are supported?

Regards
Just copy the folder and skin to the

drive:\sys\apps\dSSaver\modules\prclock\

Right click on desktop and select properties > screen saver > page3

Then select Pretty Clock and the module should be there.  Configure it and pick the "Start Now" button to see what it looks like.  If you don't like it, you can always delete the folder and the skn. Pretty clock is where you select the different clock modules for your screen saver, if you so choose.

A forgotten category: a few system-related utilities.

Just to be complete, all are text-mode apps:

Code: [Select]
CPUInfo   (CPUINFO.EXE, may be Dave Yeo's, shows flags and properties of the CPU(s))
Dhrystone (DHRY.EXE, CPU benchmark with YMMV-results, I saw an unclear grey blob as an unofficial icon)
DISKIO    (DISKIO.EXE, disk benchmark)
SysInfo   (SYSINFO.EXE, i.e. not SysInfo/2, a text-mode dump of several basic systeem settings and proporties)

Made a few quick generic disktest icons. Used a white background for most. Trash, modify, or use any or all.

Hello
This is a case very similar to what Pete comments:

https://manuals.easygates.co.uk/PDF/DEA/LIVI_ENG%20[483%20Kb].pdf

When trying to open the file from the Download Manager, clicking twice fails. But renaming it or from another application does not fail
In fact the correct link is including square brackets, and even the pdf. It seems that Seamonkey does not like square brackets ....

I just tested Firefox, Lucide, and Qpdfview.  All 3 programs display the bracked pdf just fine.

eCSoft/2 does an excellent job of explaining what is needed.

https://ecsoft2.org/qpdfview

It requires a lot.  I used the the quick install listing all the prerequisites and it works fine.

Hi Andre

I was out of town for a couple of days.  Got back today.  Then the power button on my computer broke.  I will have to remember not to turn my computer off.  I may not get it up again.

Did two whois icons.  The original and another one with the question mark modified.  I tried the interrobang.  I could not get it to look good at the same sizes.

I have attached the rings also with the icons.  You can always change it to the color you need.
