Hardware / Re: H.P. 2025 need help Per!
« on: June 27, 2015, 10:53:22 pm »
I just set it up on another system with the same results.
LPD server 192.168.1.140
LPD Printer HP2025
Port Name SLPR1
Timeout 45 secs
Preformance Nothing selected

No activity on printer, File is sent but no printer response
Driver is installed and outport port SLPR1 is selected

I also tried setting up in CUPS and that all went well and it printed sucessfully a color test page, but when i created the desktop object
and tried printing both a Web page and a Text Document,  it blows off everything and returns to the desktop.
My God I hope I havn't bought another "Boat Anchor" --- one small pluss, this printer is soo heavy it will anchor a pretty large boat!

Thanks for all the help   klipp

I'm running eCS 2.2 beta and creating a pretty much the same as you have indicated, but there is no HP postscript driver 3700 ps" listed. The driver I've been trying to use is POSTSCRIPT .HP Color LaserJet 3700 PS. Is this incorrect?

Thanks for you're response Per. Using http://192.168.1.140 works as you described, and you were also correct that the machine listed NPIF9E888 incorrectly and I changed it to NP1F9E888. But still nothing when I try to print. I guess the only thing remaining is to try it on a different machine. I did try it using CUPS  1.4.8 and calling it a HP Color LaserJet CP 2020 and it worked and sucessfully printed a Printer Test Page but I've forgotten how to set up the Desktop Printer Object -- Well, i thought i knew how but what i tried didn't work.
Do you have any other suggestions? Alex? How about you?

Thanks to both of you!  klipp

I need more help PER! I just got my H.P. 2025dn today but have not been able to get it to work. What did you enter for SLPR1 properties? LPD Server=???? and LPD Printer=?????. That's the only thing I can think of that I might be setting wrong.

Hey Per, I just got my H.P. 2025dn. Havn't been able to make it work yet though. I'm trying to use you're setup instructions with SLPR port. I got the LPD Server set as 192.168.1.140 which is the same as the IPv4 Address. But I don't know for sure to enter as LPD Printer. Setup on th H.P. 2025 does not show a LPD Name. Could you tell me what you had to enter for both of these items?

thanks  klipp

Man O Man!ยก THANKS to all of you! You've cleared up a BUNCH of questions about printers for me, and I'm sure a bunch of other OS/2 users. I'm going to go ahead and buy those 2 HP cp2025's !
Thanks again -- You all are whats keeping OS/2 -eCS ALIVE!    klipp

Hey Pete, I did some digging and there'e a whole bunch of H.P. printers needing thar HPLIP  driver, H.P. has released two different upgrades to it and it still doesn't work. But of course it works with Windoz! Anyways I've got the cp 1025nw boxed back up and am going to try to return it tommorow. They told me it was guaranteed to work with both Linux & OS/2 so possibly I might get my money back. Although in the past I've had problems with Mexican guarentees!
Thanks for the input     klipp

Hi Per, I've located 2  H.P. cp2025 printers and was hoping you could describe how you set it up if possible in some detail. One of these printers will be for a client if I'm convinced it will work well. I guess I still don't really understand you're post concerning using a "host based" vs a PDL printer.

Thanks for you're responses   klipp

Thanks Per, Andi & Michael for you're replies. Unfortunatly none of the printers you mentioned are available here in Mexico. I did just buy a H.P. CP 1025 which I was fairly sure would work! BUT it looks like I've just bought another "Boat Anchor". It doesn't even work with Linux, let alone OS\2. PER, if you are reading this post, could be a little more descriptive as to how you got you're H.P. cp 2025 to work? Which eCS supplied  PS Driver did you use and did you install as USB? I'd appreciate any more information you could supply as I might be able to get my hands on a cp 2025.

Thanks again  klipp

Hello Renee, I can't help you, but I have the same problem with a Laserjet Pro 1025nw (H.P.)  which has ePrint, could you describe how you set up you're printer on google, assuming you are doing it from OS/2?

Thanks  klipp

Has anybody bought the Hewlett Packard m252dw Color laser printer? It looks like it should work, but I'm done buying printers that don't work with OS/2. I would like to know other people have used them without problems before I buy another one.

Thanks for any replies   klipp

Pete, You were reading my mind! I've been trying to figure out what Greggory meant when he stated "look in the Docs for the switch to turn sound on" -- then you're post showed up, and there was the answer! I knew nothing about having to turn on sound, now it makes sense.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!  Mybe this horse isn't dead afterall. My thinking is that once I can make sound work with VPC, possibly I'll be able to make it work when compiling VirtualBox versions also.

Thanks again   klipp

Hi Greggory, Thanks VERY much for you're response. You provided some very useful information and it also looks like you can prove that VPC is capable of producing useable sound in Guests running under a eCS host. I would really appreciate it if you could E-Mail me at rklipp@megared.net.mx and I will fill you in on my particular situation. I'm working on this now in conjunction with my efforts to compile a newer version of VirtualBox for OS/2 - eCS.which you can view at os2-ecs-mexico.com/VBbox/2 Access.

Thanks  klipp
