Hi Dave -

Thanks for the SMTurbo thing - it seems to have made my system much more stable in general, and like others have said, uptime for SeaMonkey is much longer.

Just thinking out loud... would it be possible to alter SMTurbo into a more generic 'Turbo' program that uses a text file containing a list of DLL's that can be loaded at startup (instead of hard coded)? Might be helpful with other sub-system DLL's that get loaded/unloaded over time...

Hardware / Re: WLAN to LAN Adapter that works under OS/2 available ?

Hi Lars,

I also use a TP-Link TL-WR802N 'nano router' with OS/2, as Moritz mentioned. One thing to be aware of - the one I have defaults to being a 'repeater' and must be configured using a wireless device (laptop) the first time (or if reset to default). After configuring to be used with ethernet (from a laptop) it can be configured from the ethernet side...

Utilities / Re: architecture/substitute of cmd.exe ?

 Hi Martin,

You should check out the 32 bit command interpreter by Jonathan Pollard (if you haven't already):

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/shell/cmd-1-1.zip

  It also needs these dll's:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/dev/32-bit/conrt-1-0-3.zip

I seems to me to be better than the OS/2 supplied command line...

Hi Tellie,

Is the idea here to add the listed URL to the list of repositories in ANPM, then install from there? If so, I can't get it to work - get an error: 'Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository'.

Applications / Re: How to make Tor work on eCS
« on: September 16, 2018, 03:40:18 pm »
Thanks again! It seems to work as well as the last one, but there is a new warning in the message log:

Warning: Cannot get strong entropy: no entropy source found.

Is it looking for some kind of randomizer?

Since Firefox 24, I have not been able to connect to HTTPS website URL's using Tor. I presume that is a defect in our Firefox, but was wondering if anyone else has seen this or even found a way around it...

Thanks, Paul! Got it installed and so far seems to work well with my OS/2 SAMBA server. I'll try some Windows shares next...

I wonder if it would be possible in theory to create a 'memory defragmentation' daemon that monitors memory and warns when fragments get below a specified size (or even better, defrags when needed)?

Massimo,

Zip files can be had here for the release RPM stuff...

http://rpm.netlabs.org/release/00/zip/

I also do not have a 'rocken.dll' file on my systems, but Wireshark works. A real mystery...

Massimo,

Check inside your C:\TCPIP\BIN\B4TCP.CMD file and make sure it has this:

if exist %etc%\inetcfg.ini CALL inetcfg.exe -set all

If not add it. This command applies the inetcfg.ini file settings when you boot.

Networking / Re: Routing Issues?

Ben,

The 'route add net' doesn't look right on the work machine - shouldn't it be 'route add -net'?

Gregg,

Hey, thanks for that! I never even considered running in a window, but yes - it works!

Thanks for building this, Dave! I'm having some strange trouble though, it works great until somewhere around the 3rd or 4th time I start it, the icon cross-hatches, but nothing appears on the screen. Doesn't appear in the task list either. This happens regardless of whether I reboot or not. I have 2 CPUs, and the CPU monitor shows 100% load bouncing back and forth from one CPU to the other. If I recopy the 2nd beta version over this one, then everything works fine again and continues working.

Unfortunately, TOP doesn't work on this machine (problems with OS/2 fullscreen sessions) so I can't look to see what is running when I try to start SeaMonkey in this state. Definitely a head scratcher...
